50 Shades of Grey....

The book 50 Shades of Grey has caused quite a stir!
In recent conversations it seems to divide many readers who have read it.

I must confess that I have not read it and will probably not read it.
Have you read it?
What are your opinions on the book?

I have been greying things up quite a bit in the past year or so...
perhaps it's the cat and the kitten that have influenced my passion for grey.

It's what I am wearing today.

I suppose my version would read
5 Shades of Grey!

Have you got an exciting weekend planned?

I am hosting a baby shower for a co worker who is on maternity leave
have a bunch of ladies coming over to our Humble Bungalow for food and fun
and we'll all get to meet the new baby!

I'm enlisting the help of lovely daughter who is going to help me decorate for the shower.
She's got some clever ideas as she's been helping a friend this summer who runs a wedding planning service
and can make me a banner and add a dash of fun.

Enjoy your Friday!

I much prefer your Fifty Shades of Grey. A friend loaned me the book and I read about a fifth of it before I gave up - it would rot one's brain!
Re your comment on my post - I'm in the Mission area this week and have a view of the monastery spire every day when I drive to work!

Gray is a staple in my wardrobe for its blend ability. The book is not my style. Have fun at the party.

I have no interest in reading any of the "50 Shades" books. Just not my thing. But I do like your shades of grey though! You've "curated" some wonderful pieces. I've been trying to replace more of my black items with grey. Grey is a bit softer and easier to wear and mix with other colors.

Prefer your shades of grey, have just finished reading 'To the Lighthouse' by Vita Sackville West, have you read any of her books?

My week has been so hectic I am looking forward to a restful one.Enjoy your's.Ida

Grey and navy are two staple colors in my wardrobe...I still have black and chocolate, but are phasing those out. Those books are definitely not my cup of tea. I've been plowing through Susanna Kearsley's work, and just received the new Kate Morton novel. I'll be reading some to my hospice pt this weekend!

Very poorly written- just titillating to the nth degree. Currently, I'm reading Le Divorce, much better.

Grey is becoming a core color for me once again. I wore it in my early forties until I became tired of it and opted for black. Recently, I began adding navy which I have never worn.

Why hostess, you little vixen! I like your deep greys and interesting details. I'm not looking to read 50 Shades but am intrigued by why women are so captivated in this scenario. Right now I am reading all of Edward St. Aubyn's "Melrose Series" novels (downloaded in one set for my Kindle).

Gray, navy and black are my staple colors. I've always loved gray, for clothing and in interiors. You have some lovely gray pieces.

I am a grey, black and white fan too! I have a few pops of red thrown in, but just love the black and white. I too don't even have a hint of interest in the 50 shades book!

I read that book!
Love vintage fiction by gifted writers ~ Virginia Woolf, Jane Austin, Nancy Mitford...
oh the list could go on and on!

I have really enjoyed Kate Morton's novels. I see that she just published a new one, perhaps that is the one you are going to start.
Take care Gretchen

I enjoyed Le Divorce...the movie is cute too!

Love that grey tank. 50 Shades was like a Mills and Boon with whips and steel eggs in places they should not be....

I checked the book out from the library, read a few pages, and took it back ~ it was horrible, so badly written and boring, and I am certainly no prude.

Love all of your new fashion choice...all very useful and elegant.

Oh, and yes, I read the Fifty Shades of Gray trilogy. Also read Twilight and The Hunger Games trilogies. I'm not going to comment really, I read them because I like to stay connected to huge cultural trends. There's always something there when it's sort of "sweeps the world".

Love your greys however not sure I loved the 50 shades books...! Read the first 2 and don't think I will be going for the 3rd. Enjoy the Baby shower am sure it will be a lot of fun. X

Without meaning to sound like a prude, I find it very sad that young people are 'learning' about the opposite sex from books like this and from the internet. I don't care two hoots what adults get up to, but early exposure to books like this, which are now so readily available, seems to be really confusing young people about what they should expect from a partner. In the UK '50 Shades' is available in supermarkets, and so easily downloadable. Innocence between boyfriend and girlfriend will never be what it was, and I do realise that ignorance is no good either, but how far are we, as a society, willing to go?

I love gray and like you probably also have fifty shades of it...but not the book of that title. The subject matter and its popularity are...puzzling to me. Too many other truly good books to read; too little time.

I am, however, reading *Winter's Bone* (the novel on which the film was based), about a teenaged girl struggling to keep her family together in the Ozarks. The film was really good; the novel is turning out to be even better.

I think the only word for grey is sublime. And there isn't a shade I don't love, and I think there are at least 50 shades of grey. I won't read the book either but if Ryan Gosling is in the movie I might have to go see it. ;) As I frequently find myself saying, I'm not dead yet.

Help us please if we ever get complacent about being alive and savoring the joys of living!
Ryan Gosling has the looks and the talent perhaps you will get to see it on the big screen!

I love all these beautiful grey tones! I can't wear grey - it makes me look ill. And yet, I keep buying it!

We'll have to go thrifting again soon! I might be able to squeeze in a Sunday in November - let me know if you're interested. :)
