White Wednesday and Breaking the "Rules"

The Fashion Police might consider citing me for this infraction....
I admit that I am breaking the rules...and do so with gay abandon!

Hint Hint...It's white Wednesday.

It's the rule about white...
are you familiar with that rule?

Hey Girlfriend...
these jeans are soooo comfy.
(they go with so many things that are hanging in my closet)

So why not wear white after Labour Day?
I have not retired these jeans to the "off season closet" just yet.

The COS striped Tee purchased in The Marais district of Paris.

New purchase from The Hudson's Bay
Style and Co.
Monoprix necklace from Paris.

Bianca Nygaard top
vintage coin necklace

Cloudveil Merino Tee and Zara shawl sweater vest
J Crew Venus Flytrap necklace

Eddie Bauer down vest and a basic white tee

Tweed jacket ~ Spenser Jeremy
Amalfi shoes
(a dressy affair)

same again but with Coach loafers.

Gap distressed denim jacket
Sperry Top Siders espadrilles

Silver is my current shade to accessorize these jeans...

Bangles ~ vintage, Tiffany, Birks, Boyd Bond, and artisan.

Vintage Belt

French Connection soft cozy grey top
it looks oversized but really is not baggy
the hem sits on the hips.

Worn with freshwater pearls

Stripes and white...
nautical and nice.

Love the weight and shape of this top.
It camouflages the midriff area which is not as toned as it was when I was younger!

Just saying that if this anemone can still bloom in October...
I can wear white jeans.

Hope that you are having a lovely week.

What fashion rules are you breaking?

Sunny daze...OOTD

We've been enjoying a sunny Saturday.

It started out quietly with the sun streaming in the windows.
I sat and leisurely sipped a mug of tea while I perused Sharon Santoni's newest book. I keep it on the coffee table in the Humble Bungalow living room so it's easy to pick up. If you haven't had an opportunity to browse through the book which features elegant homes and chateaus of Sharon's wonderful friends you might want to add it to your reading list.

We scurried off to Oak Bay Avenue for a coffee with our family...
our mission was shopping for Hunter boots for Isla...in pink.(of course!)
Afterwards we went off to the park for some fun and games.

~ OOTD ~
Banana Republic skinny jeans
Cloudveil wool tee from Costco
Barbour vest
scarf in a Burberry style pattern
(Xmas gift from lovely daughter)

comfy leather loafers
new from Winners

I have never bought anything by Coach.
(My son and his lovely wife gave me a Coach silk scarf one Xmas)

They also gave me this J Crew Venus Flytrap necklace.

After our park play time we got into our gardening clothes...
that particular OOTD will not be seen on the blog!

We've been outside for hours prepping the site for our new greenhouse which is due sometime in the next week or so...very exciting to think that we will be able to extend our growing season and that we will be able to grow heirloom tomatoes!

I'm going to freshen up and rustle up some super quick (and easy) chicken burritos.

~ Chicken Burritos ~
Saute sliced onions, red and green pepper strips until soft,
add 1 pound of ground or thinly sliced chicken to the pan and cook until soft and chicken is no longer pink.
Add a Tablespoon of chili powder and 2 teaspoons of cumin and stir
(Red chili flakes or a glug of Frank's Red Hot Sauce are optional)
stir in some regular ketchup, enough to make a sauce.

Grate some cheese, cube some tomatoes and shred some lettuce.
Arrange on a platter and the burritos are almost ready to assemble.

Heat burrito shells in microwave one at a time for about 60 seconds.
top with a small amount of the chicken mixture
garnish with veggies and top with cheese.
Roll up and eat!

Now how much easier could dinner be?
Simple
Quick and easy
clean up is a snap
~ then ~
it's time to hit the couch for some relaxation and Netflix .

Wishing you a Happy Weekend.

Denim Love ~ or is it Lust?

How excited are you about your clothing purchases?
Do you get a wee bit of a rush when you find the perfect piece?
Or do you feel rather hum drum and so so when buying clothes?

Well I got really excited when my new Gap denim jacket arrived and I immediately put it on to find it fit perfectly and I love the lighter wash. I bought the Petite but in a large as I have some "considerations" up front that necessitate a bit more fabric and I do want to be able to close the jacket without it gaping.

Can you picture this with white jeans? a printed skirt? a black dress with sandals?
I can and am already imagining all the combinations possible with my current wardrobe.

Hermes scarf with a pop of red...
which reminds me I must replace those red ballet flats that wore out.

JCrew necklace gets two thumbs up.

Sherman brooch oh yes!

The jacket is soft and already distressed so my work is done people.
Now I just need to get out and wear it.

~ ~ ~

I've done the seasonal closet swap and tried on all my Spring and Summer clothes.
The good news is that there will be lots of room for clothes!
The bad news is only two things fit!
Going from a size 14 to a 10 or 8 is exciting but it means that shopping is going to be very much on my agenda!
I have laundered and ironed all those too large items and have booked an appointment with the consignment shop in Oak Bay. I received several hundred dollars last season when I sold my clothes....it is not a lot of money but it will get me started as I need to replace the basics.

My walking partner and I are hosting a baby shower for a fabulous teacher friend who is expecting her first child in a few weeks.
It will be fun to see all the gals from work and catch up on all their news.
I had so much fun shopping for a baby gift!
Have you noticed how cute the baby clothes are these days?

What have you got planned for your weekend?
Hope you've got some time set aside for a wee bit of fun.

Thank you for stopping by...
