New things in The Humble Bungalow ...

It is a lovely morning here in The Humble Bungalow.

Sunshine, blue skies and very little breeze.

I just got back from a walk along the seafront.
The first walk of the day 3.3 km and 5,210 steps.

My daily goal is 10,000 steps which adds up to about 6.2 km

Yesterday I changed the bedding and Pepper was very impatient...
she "assumes the position" on our bed during the daytime.

We updated our coverlet this year with this Laura Ashley printed coverlet and shams.

We also purchased a new wool runner for the hallway.

Staying at home so much has made me aware of lots of things that need attention.

I reorganized the spices using Bonne Maman jam jars.
These jars are a great size and fit well inside the drawer.

3 more jars are waiting to be filled...
I haven't decided which spices I need yet.

Sweet, juicy Tangerines in a vintage ironstone bowl.
We have a larger one of these bowls and it is filled with apples.

Weight Watcher 360 plan assigns ZERO POINTS for fresh fruit
so fresh fruits are my "go to" snacks.

All the walking is helping me feel better.
My muscles are tighter and my legs feel stronger.
I have noticed a change in my shape...
fewer wobbly bits!

Am reading The Which Elm by Tana French.
It is an interesting story and Tana writes such vivid scenes.
I feel like I am inside the rooms and gardens
beside the characters that are playing their roles.

I must close for now as I have a bunch of laundry that needs my attention.

What are you reading?

Any home projects underway that are keeping you busy?

Please feel free to leave a comment, I love hearing from readers.

Bedroom renovations are done!

The renovation took several months
due to our summer holidays
and
the schedules and work load of the construction crew.

Here's what the bedroom looks like today.

Built in drawers and doors replaced a very small closet space.

We have so much more room for our clothes and its much better organized.

I purchased:

new pillows
memory foam mattress protector
cotton sheets
bed skirt
throw

Chester seems to approve!

We are leaving the distressed floor as it is...
I am not planning on buying antique rugs which originally thought I would.

Not sure about art work on the white walls...
they look so peaceful and serene.

All white bedding is my favourite.

Claire Austin Rose

I am working on my list
"3 weeks in a carry on"
for my upcoming trip to Italy and France.

More about that next time!

Thank you for stopping by The Humble Bungalow Blog.

Gratitude...

The attitude of gratitude has been a huge influence on how I view life.
It has helped me gain perspective
feel joy
and taught me to be content.

Our bungalow has been a "gift" in so many ways.
We have embarked on many projects over the years to improve and maintain
the interior and exterior in the historic arts and crafts style.

I had to learn to be patient as all the projects took time and money.
Time and patience have afforded me the opportunity to weed out and prioritize what is most important and helped me to figure out what I really wanted to focus on next.

I have been lusting after linen bedding for several years...
linen as you may already know is not an inexpensive undertaking.

I saved up for several months to purchase sheets and a duvet cover with shams.
When I found these at Lands" End on sale at 20% off I quickly placed my order.

We plan to redo our bedroom and build in a closet with drawers and doors.
The room is small and we plan to use wainscotting and paint the walls white.
The floor is dark fir and the bed and side tables are dark oak.
Blue and mocha will fit right in...

We slept on the linen bedding this week and I can say that I am so happy with the comfort and coziness of the sheets and they will just get softer with every washing.

Chester and Pepper are enjoying playing in the boxes...
I leave them in the kitchen on the floor for a few days as they love them so much.

How is your week going?
Are you following along with the new eating regime?
Have you been walking every day?

My leg muscles are a wee bit sore after amping up the pace on my walks.

The scale is not rapidly reflecting my new habits but I am not discouraged
as it is going in the right direction!

Try not to be obsessive about weighing every day.

I know the temptation is there...
when you do step on the scale do it at the same time every day
and try to wear the same clothes so you get an accurate reading.
( you may want to weigh in wearing only your "birthday suit")

Remember to drink lots of water.

Hope that you have some fun activities planned for the weekend.
