recipe for recovery...a tasty diversion and a family field trip

To cheer me up my Mom and sister arranged to have an outing
we drove out of town to a lovely hotel on the water
sat on the outdoor patio on a warm and sunny afternoon
dined on a delicious and healthy salad
I shared my recent troubling eldercare issues
they listened
gave me air time
and support.

We stopped in and browsed at a thrift shop
we seldom visit.
I wandered the aisles
feeling rather foggy
 my thoughts were elsewhere.
The sun was streaming in the windows and this was in a ray of sunshine.
in the light I glimpsed the details
it tickled my fancy
a
leather handbag
butter soft
and
embossed
with chains and tags
and
long straps
in basic black
the workhorse colour
that takes me anywhere anytime

Canadian made

side zippers expand the bag
transforming the capacity
what a great idea.

I liked the "look"
a little more dressy
cross body
for hands free shopping

and the best part
it was
$10.00

I feel propped up
by comments left here
I am
giving thanks in gratitude for family,
friends,
and blog buddies.

You guys rock my world.

Dear Hostess, I am so pleased that you have spent such an enjoyable and relaxing day with your mother and sister, and do so hope that it has taken you out of yourself. The bag, what a find, looks positively wonderful and was clearly the bargain of the day, month or even year.

Have a really peaceful, pottering Sunday.

How nice that you were able to get away for some R&R. It sounds like it was a lovely day...and the bag, what a great bonus.

Sounds like a GREAT prescription for a foggy state of mind -- mother and sister, out of town, lovely hotel, water, outdoor patio, warm and sunny afternoon and a delicious and healthy salad...and a little thrift store therapy, of course.

Nothing like a new handbag (even a thrifted one) for a quick pick-me-up.

You have been in my thoughts.

A workhorse color-makes me: )-. Not a bad bag at all, Hostess. I have noticed, that I too look where something is made. This thing has become important for me too. Naturally I´m aware, that the label may be misleading. You are fortunate to have a sister and a mother still alive, and that you obviously have a good relationship with them : )

Oh - what a great find for a great price! I was thrilled to find a (vintage, scuffed) English made '60s pocketbook for about $9-10 at a vintage store - hand made by people not compelled into slave labor (what a concept).

Time away is very healing. When I cannot do more, I at least go to my beloved state park for a long walk in the woods or around the bird-nesting lake, or to my college town with its shops, museums and fun lunch places. Just a little time away can help so much.

artful lawyer- "Time away" is restorative...
an escapist movie, a great book, a walk in the country or visiting a city near or far...
new scenes viewed seem to be a tonic.
