Father's Day...
A day to celebrate and remember, honour and thank.
There are so many things that fathers do and have done over the years.
I was fortunate to have a hard working father with firm family values.
He was not given to showing of affection in a grandiose manner, more reserved, gentle and kind.
A deep thinker, an avid reader, a fixer of things...
he grew the best tomatoes in his greenhouse and we ate them well into the winter!
he influenced me in so many ways...
I miss him.
My father and Mr. HB's father passed away several years ago only a few months apart...
my BFF's father died that year too...
it's known in our circle as "The Year of the Dads"
Happy Father's Day...
and thank you...
Our son is a father and that totally moves me...
to tears...
...of joy.

hi leslie,
what a wonderful father you had. and what a loving tribute. tomatoes into the winter is some accomplishment, he must have been a wonderful gardener. maybe that's where you got it.

Beautiful sentiments...My father and I used to enjoy homegrown tomato sandwiches (white bread, mayo and tomatoes straight from the garden)I thought of that when I saw your photo of tomatoes. He has been gone for so many years now......
It is known, that also a girl needs and benefits from a " strong" ( in a good way ) father figure. My own father, who died some 25 years ago, was a very gentle one. He walked in my mother´s leach. Luckily my grandfather ( from my mother´s side ) was one, I respected and adored. He died all too early. This father´s day must have been the most important father´s day for your son. Congratulations!
The gardener's cottage-He was not perfect...just enough...
Jenndon-Oh...I think I just might buy some white bread in memory of my Dad! Sandwiches for lunch!
Metscan-I share in your adoration of grandfathers...I saw my son today holding his week old daughter and the look in his eye will live in my heart forever!
