Darn it Kate Spade I am in lust!

Do you have a week that flies by so fast that you are left wondering where the time went?
So much living gets packed into a week and we measure a lot of our success by what we get accomplished.
A lot happens in those 7 days. chapters are read, meals get made, floors get swept, family is tended to, blog posts are published and pets are cuddled.
On top of the domestics duties I make certain that I take my walks as they are a priority, I practise some Yoga and there's the mandatory time set aside to savour many restorative cups of tea so it is not all work and drudgery!
This week I have been browsing online at the Spring collections...which can be a wee bit tempting.

One NEEDS to make some time for fun...a girl can dream...

I have been looking online at Kate Spade's gorgeous website and lusting after some of her scarves and shoes.
There is something refreshing about her line of goods...it's a little bit girly and whimsical.
I don't know if she would take that as a compliment but I do mean it in the nicest possible way.

I am so in love with this beautiful Giverny scarf.
If I still feel passionate about it after a few days I may buy it, but in the meantime I am still very happy with my white linen scarf.

L'Occitane almond milk is my favourite body moisturizer...
I slather it on my legs and arms after showering and it has a very subtle scent.
A little goes a long way so a jar will last many months...it's a little bit of every day luxury.

I think this scarf was an Eileen Fisher from several seasons past.
The versatility of white was the reason that I chose this at the time.
I like it for summer and it goes so well with so many things that I own.
You can use it as a shawl over a sleeveless top or dress and it is very feminine.

Now back to that gorgeous Giverny scarf!
it has such a pretty pattern that I can envision wearing with many of my solid tanks and tops.
It would be a versatile accessory and one that I could keep for years to come.

My birthday is in a few days so maybe I will splurge.
It's not a milestone birthday so there will not be a lot of fuss and bother.
My husband and I will go out for a meal, perhaps with our best friends.
There is a brunch planned for the weekend following my weekday birth date.
Now getting back to that scarf...
Sometimes a gal just wants to give in and throw caution to the wind and buy something fun,
besides do I always need to be sensible and thrifty?
I keep seeing pretty patterns for Spring in all the fashion magazines that I flip through...
have I convinced you?
Maybe you'll buy it and I can live vicariously through you!

What are you tempted to splurge on?
Have you got your eye on something to add to your wardrobe this season?

I love the gauzy white linen. But not being a scarf habitue, I can't tell if that particular Kate Spade floral version is more special than others!

That is a very beautiful scarf. I would like to see it person before considering buying it, as it is 80" long, almost seven feet and I'm only 5ft 2". It has very happy colours without shouting.

I think the scarf is a worthwhile splurge. It will look good on you and you will beautiful!

It's a lovely scarf. A little pricy for viscose, I think, but that's designer goods for you!

Might have tripped over a pair of shoes here. At least, I seem to have ended up with a pair in my shopping bag. Can I blame it on Spring's incipient arrival?

That scarf is definitely a beauty. I gave myself an early birthday present last week. Yes...it's a scarf, also with some color and pattern. Sometimes if you really love something it's worth the occasional splurge.

My week has gone by so fast it's a blur. I always have so much to do the week I head home from Florida. I just sat down now, with a nice Cava and peach nectar version of a bellini.
I had planned to splurge on many things this season, and haven't bought a thing except some Tom Ford cologne, and a few Eileen Fisher sweaters on sale.
I'm heading to Italy in a few weeks; so hopefully I'll find something wonderful there.

Perhaps a well-placed hint would not go amiss?

I have a hard time when it comes to spending money because I was raised to be frugal. We came into some money recently due to a seismic permit payment and my husband is saying it is all mine. He wants me to buy jewelry--a diamond snowflake 22 carat gold ring or diamond earrings. I am so conservative. I would feel guilty spending the money on myself. What to do?

I love the Kate Spade scarf!

Really surprised you call what you do on a daily basis "work" and "drudgery"..most people would love to have the time, spaces and resources you have!

The fabric looks quite light so it would wrap and drape well...I usually double wrap long scarves so I think the length would be fine. If I did order it and not love it I would have no problem returning it.

Which shoes? I like the navy striped Keds and the flip flops!

I hope you will showcase your scarf soon. Happy Birthday on Tuesday.

If your husband wants you to have something special you could give yourself permission. It might be fun to have something tangible to show for your windfall.

You are right of course! I am enjoying my retirement and I am grateful everyday for all the good things in my life. I'll chalk it up to writers hyperbole

One of the things I like about online shopping is I can bookmark something and think about it a couple days. If you still really love it, hey, it's your birthday! Lots of beautiful colors there.

128 dollars for a viscose scarf? No! Silk and I might be tempted!

It is HARD to give myself permission to spend money on myself. I tend to think in terms of things we need, instead of things like jewelry.

Scarves, Hostess, always scarves. Oh, and I love to splurge on lipsticks. The finances are a little tight this month, but the grey and freezing temps have left my husband and I wishing that spring would hurry. He began going to a golf dome to practice for the upcoming season. I decided to cruise Etsy and came away with an eternity scarf for $20 dollars. The "Bank" is not broken and I am eagerly awaiting my treat. Sometimes a girl just has to splurge, even if the splurge is a tiny one.

Oh, are you still rereading Simple Abundance. I am enjoying it once again and it has an entirely different meaning for me now. Before I had three active boys and a job. Now I am a content retiree and empty nester, but I love its calm and simple message.

I agree! You should visit Ten Thousand Villages on Government Street. They have lovely silk scarves for under $40.00 and the proceeds go directly to the people who make them.

Oh boy, I loved Keds, I live in them during my teen years.

Mr. HB reads my blog and mentioned that I have a mad money account and I might want to use some of the funds for the scarf! Mother gives me some money for my birthdays so that might be where I go to spend it!

I haven't been in there for ages...I used to shop in the Oak Bay location but it has been closed for years. Perhaps I need to walk down and check it out.

I keep Simple Abundance on my bedside table and start my day by reading the selection for that day! Her thoughts still resonate with me but as you mentioned it is a different time now with a lot less stress and demands. Little treats go a long way to perking up the months before Spring arrives. I crave colour in this dreary rain and perhaps that is why I am drawn to the scarf...it has such pretty floral accents it is rather like a bouquet of flowers. Now cheap and cheerful tulips are showing up at the flower markets, they are a wee bit of luxury that instill beauty for a few dollars.

Love the Giverny scarf. Such soft and pretty colours for spring/summer.

Scarf is lovely and if you like it, wee, that is what a splurge is all about!

I am considering a Longchamp le pliage bag for my trip to England
