A long weekend boating adventure...

We have been out on our new boat this weekend!

Meeting up with friends and family on beautiful Pender Island over the long weekend is a tradition.
We have pot luck dinners, share appetizers, have cocktails and play disc golf. There is a trophy for the winning team...this year two teams tied. Lovely daughter and her fellow participated and were on the winning teams.

We took the cats with us which was quite an undertaking...
they didn't like it when the boat was underway but seemed to enjoy exploring all the nooks and crannies when we were at the dock.
They liked being able to be out on the back deck under the canvas as they could see other boaters, sea gulls and dogs which intrigued Chester but not Pepper!

It's a very cozy salon.

the compact interior requires creative storage solutions and minimal galley gear!

the ledges come in handy

our first dinner aboard

Pepper is snug and dry even when it rained

both cats liked the dashboard

Pepper snoozed on the cushions

Chester hung out on the dinette
(which I had to clean every time I used it!)

the boat handled very well

it helped that the seas and wind were favourable

we had a great cruise and lots of fun this weekend
and have a list of things that we want to improve and a few staples that we want to purchase.

I'm hoping to get over to visit Henry Brian and Isla this week.
I thought about our new grandson while away and I was fortunate to get several photos on my IPhone
from our lovely DIL!

Cannot wait to have another snuggle...
 I have gifts to deliver
and I think I'll cook them a meal so that they can enjoy an easy dinner.

Tomorrow is the first day of school.
It will feel odd not going back to work as I have done for the past 25 years!

What was your weekend like?

It sounds as though you really enjoyed the new boat. Are you celebrating not returning to school? September is usually such a beautiful month and now you have a new grand baby, I'm sure that it will be a love-filled month.

What a great way to spend the long weekend!
Out here we had a rather lazy weekend. There were a few Open Houses to visit on Saturday, and then Sunday and today we didn't move a car from the drive *bliss*!

What an idyllic weekend you spent. I've never seen cats on a boat, but know they were staples on ships long ago. Our weekend was one of illness for both me and my husband, unfortunately. We hope to be on the mend! Still thinking about your new grandchild and all the fun you will have this autumn. I hope you enjoyed not returning to school this morning!

Love that you took your cats with you on your new boat. Chester looks like he's quite at home on the water!

What a lovely week, I didn't know that you got a new boat ~ it looks so snug and comfy. The cats are really amazing, they made themselves right at home, now they are sailors too!

Such a cool post. I love cats on a boat.

I rode my bike to a little shopping center I live by and sat in the sun. There were three high school girls visting in a pavilion nearby. They looked so nice. They moved about actively as they chatted and wore beautiful simple clothing. Have you noticed friends often dress similarly? They all wore their hair down a little below the shoulders.

I have found myself thinking of missing the first day back after 25 years myself. Adventures like these on your new boat surely help.

Thank you for including us for the first meal, a truly special occasion! I still have scars on my arms from taking my cat "Mr. C." on a boat over 30 yrs ago. If you are willing to say, what did you name your new boat?

Good to hear that you are on the mend.
I spent the morning doing domestics, filling out a form on the net for a volunteer position, went for my walk, made a meal for my son and DIL and then made our dinner! Busy day but fun!

MY BFF and I like a lot of the same styles and have purchased the same things independently of each other! I think it is quite common for young girls especially to wear similar outfits...whne I was in high school there was a code of dress...jeans for sure were popular and it was Levi's, GWG's or Lees.

I thought about what my colleagues were doing but I was too busy to really dwell on not being there myself!

Well we are not really world travellers so I thought instead of Wanderlust we'd name her Waterlust.
