I love black with white and there is a surprising amount of black here in the Bungalow...

I ask you...
would an all white painting be interesting
or
would it be a canvas awaiting a smattering of colour?

You had me at white Hostess.
I have duly written down the bath salt recipe and look forward to making and indulging.
Now I'm assuming this artwork is yours? I love it to bits Hostess!

How about this white on white canvas:

the book is by John Pawson, one of the few books on design I bought in the 90's.

Oh, I *love* that painting! No, I do not think it needs color. The black & white is what makes it special-- it's so unusual, unexpected.
I prefer white towels in my bathroom too. In fact, this week (well, it will probably take more like a month) I am in the process of converting my bathroom to all (or mostly) white. This will include taking down some ugly wallpaper and painting some cabinets. I've never done either, so it will be a learning experience. :)
Oh, I just realized you were asking about white-on-white for paintings! I'm pretty sure I've seen one or two before, in modern art museums, and yes, they are interesting. I'm not sure if I could live with one, though. :)
I love white... I find it to be incredibly calming and soothing. I think that is what I love the most about Scandinavian design. And then you start finding and playing with texture... I think an all-white painting could be good or bad. It would depend on the artist's...well, artistry.

Dear Hostess of the Humble Bungalow,
I love your pictures! White is beautiful (I wear it a lot in summer). A white picture - I would see it as a canvas. I do like a dash of colour :-)
Love your white images Leslie. I am with you, I might find it hard to make White Wednesdays last after a few weeks. Interesting you should mention white canvases. A few years ago I did just that. I took three square canvases, added a wide strip of textured fabric (lace) along the center of each and then coated each, heavily with white paint. I loved the result and they have been resting on the wall in our bathroom ever since. I will do a post some day to show you :)

Great painting!
This post reminded me for some reason that I wanted to crochet some black lace to trim the white towels in my guest bathroom. I think I should go and get some thread today and get started. Like you, I love black and white.
Realize I do not decorate with, or live with much white, but do like it when I encounter it- such as in a hotel when someone else is cleaning!
Love your white items especially the look of the soap and that lovely roses painting... x
Oh, the white chemise-love, love it! I would use it as a nightgown!!!
This post ALMOST made me forget about Pepper and The Glove. Love white sheets, towels, robes, etc. Thanks!
