Giving Thanks

Happy Thanksgiving!

Our neighbours to the south in the USA will be celebrating and giving thanks today.
It's a reminder for us to count our blessings.

Being thankful is something that I try to do each and every day.
Gratitude is a powerful tool...
it's especially important as it brings perspective and humility.

We have much to be thankful for and one does not need to go far to see that.

It might be the homeless person on the street whose hands are out
the young child who comes to school hungry
or the confused elderly woman in the grocery store who is having trouble figuring out what to put back as she does not have enough money to pay for all the groceries.

Take a moment
and pause...

I'm remembering my father today

as families gather to share a meal
there are many loved ones who will be missed...

reflect and give thanks
not just today
but everyday
for the rest of your life
for as long as you live

it's very humbling

(I'll get down from my soap box now and stop pontificating!)

Happy Thanksgiving.

  1. I believe in your sincerity.
    Have a wonderful day Leslie!

  2. I keep a gratitude journal daily as it reminds me just how lucky I am.
You look lovely up on your soap box...feel no need to step down on my account!

  3. Lovely post, thank you.
Well Styled Life - that's something I really need to work on, I've been complaining a lot recently but life could be a lot lot worse, I'm just finding it hard to make the mental switch to another way of thinking about things.

  4. i too keep a gratitude journal, i have for many years now. it helps me to see just how lucky and blessed i am on a daily basis. even through the toughest times there is always something to be grateful for.
thank you leslie for always reminding us of this. xo

  5. Thank you, Hostess, for thinking of us on our humble day of reflection and family. :)

  6. Thank you for the lovely thoughts,we need these reminders to step away from the rush of our lives, and think of those less fortunate.

Happy Thanksgiving to all those who are celebrating.Ida

  7. Thanks Hostess ~ a great reminder of really what this day is all about.

  8. Lovely post and thoughts, Hostess. A very good reminder.

  9. A lovely post. Thank you for your words.

  10. Well said and so true. I am so thankful for my family today.
    Love your blog!

  11. Thank you for urging us to keep the giving in Thanksgiving (in either country); Thanksgiving seems to have morphed into a shopping extravaganza under my nose and I don't like it one bit.

  12. If we could have a little of Thanksgiving every day our city, our country and our world would be a better, safer place.
