Easter Sunday...flower show.

There's a beautiful Anglican church located in the Metchosin area a few miles out of Victoria that every Easter time has the most spectacular display of native lilies and shooting stars.
The heritage Garry Oak meadow offers the best conditions for these wee native plants to thrive.
Mr. HB and I took a drive out to have a peek yesterday and I thought it fitting that I share the pictures with you.

"Look at a tree, a flower, a plant. Let your awareness rest upon it. How still they are, how deeply rooted in Being. Allow nature to teach you stillness."

~ Eckhart Tolle ~

"Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience."

~ Ralph Waldo Emerson ~

You wouldn't want to go traipsing about in the garden though for fear of trampling the plants.
En masse they look quite stunning don't they?

"I believe in God, only I spell it Nature."

~ Frank Lloyd Wright ~

Native garden flowers naturalize in areas undisturbed by the hand of man.

In our Humble Bungalow Garden Spring blooms are popping up at every turn.
I look on Spring as a time of renewal in the garden.
An opportunity to edit, and perhaps to add some new specimens.

The Magnolia that we purchased last year is blooming.
I love the pure white waxy petals.

I love a hellebore and have had my eye on the new burgundy black variety.
They seem to sell out as soon as they arrive at the garden shops.
Gardeners love a new varietal, something different and unusual, we may be frugal when it comes to our plants but show us something new and radically different and we open our wallets wide!

These yellow lilies are naturalizing in various beds in the garden.

We enjoyed our first harvest from our asparagus bed.
Delicious!

Mr. HB assembled our new deck furniture this weekend.
This is where I hope to spend many hours sipping tea and reading.
We'll certainly want to have some comfy chairs to sit on after a day spent working in the garden.

The garden posts are going to pop up more frequently as the season progresses...
hope that you will enjoy seeing what our wee plot produces.

Hope that you are well and making the most of your weekend.
Happy Easter!

I know that churchyard well as I pass it on my way to work every week. It is one of the prettiest places at this time of year. Happy Easter!

Beautiful churchyard photos. That little Anglican church reminds me of a similarly sized Episcopal church in the small town where I went to college. The windows were decorated with dried soap flakes stenciled like crosses.

I especially loved seeing your asparagus!

Happy Easter! Thanks for sharing your pictures - the flowers are beautiful and the setting so reminiscent of an old English churchyard.

We have the same deck furniture here (in Ontario) - purchased last year. The chairs are very comfortable and luxuriously roomy. You'll enjoy your lounging time! We finally had nice enough weather today to sit outside and enjoy ours for the first time this year : ))

Such a splendid display of nature's handiwork. This inspires me to add a few more varietals to my tiny garden. God certainly did a lovely job on the church yard.

Glad to see you are feeling better - or at least good enough to get out and about. Happy Easter! Or rather, as I see the time, Happy Easter Monday! all the best from Atlanta to you

Happy Easter to you. Spring is a lovely time of year in your part of the world, the natives in the church ground especially lovely. Hellebores are a favourite of mine too.

Lovely pictures and such inspiring words. Thank you for the beautiful post. We have been sitting out enjoying the warmth of the morning sun (in our new outdoor furniture) with our coffees while it’s still possible as we move into cooler weather here in the land down under. Think of me back to the coalface tomorrow after a restful term break… Glad you are up and about - take care. Tonkath

The flowers in the churchyard are so pretty. Lucky you to have an asparagus bed! Our community garden here at Cultus Lake has one, but I'm not sure if my share of the harvest will be enough to feed my husband and me for even one dinner. Your new deck furniture looks like the perfect place to sit and have a cuppa!

Lovely pictures! There is something peaceful about an old church and its grounds. I live in Victoria also. I haven't been out to Metchosin in awhile (since moving from Sooke). It's such a great place to explore. I always look forward to the farmers market and a visit to the Mychosin cafe :)

So nice to see the spring flowers! Thanks for posting photos of the church, as they helped me visualise the siding update I have to do at my cottage. I want dark soffit eaves and window casing, and shutters, and these photos will be a good reference.
