TGIF and my newest scarf trick

Gosh I am so happy that it's Friday.
Nasty pain has been an unwelcome issue plaguing my upper back and neck.
OUCH!
I have had one massage and am scheduled for another one later today.
My masseuse has magic hands you'll have to trust me, she really is worth her weight in gold.

I think it must have been swimming laps at the pool that made these muscle seize and go into spasm.

I have been avoiding the computer and so there has been a lack on my part of commenting on the comments that you have so kindly left...
my shoulders seem to be up at my ears when I type so please accept my humble apologies...

In a magazine I was perusing I saw a new scarf trick which I liked very much because it felt less structured than my usual ties.
So I grabbed one of my Hermes scarves and simply tied in once and then on the second knot I didn't pull the end all the way through...

I'll pop a jacket over this and the scarf will add just a dash of colour
it will certainly say "rain rain go away"
and I hope it does!

The garden flowers are enjoying the moisture...

Last week when I went to the Spa
(salt scrub, massage and wrap)
they offered me fresh fruit and yogurt
tea and sparkling water.

Nibbling in the posh atmosphere wearing a plush white terry robe made me feel like royalty.
I did feel spoiled...
(thank you Santa!)

So
I have been indulging in French Vanilla Activia here in The Humble Bungalow
ever since...
I try to seize these snippets and savour them.

I wish you all a weekend with many moments of happiness and JOY!
Be Well.

Hope the aches ease up, it can be so all encompassing.
Ah yoghurt, I slurp down two cartons a day, it's one of my favourite foods.

Nice! I love the colors in that scarf. My back has been aching too, don't know if it's just age, or having been moving furniture and lifting boxes. But there's some advil in my future, no time these days for a massage.

Hope the aches go away soon, I know how horrible upper back and neck pain can be. It can limit almost everything you do in your day to day. :(
Love the new scarf tie, will have to try it myself!!

So pretty, what luminous spring colours in your scarf! I do hope you feel better.

An aching back affects every part of a person's body. I see a physiotherapist regularly for mine, and try to keep my core strong with Pilates. I hope you feel better really soon.

Your scarf is full of pretty spring colours, and grape hyacinths are featured in my garden this week, too.

Here's to a relaxing weekend and ironing those muscles out :)

Sorry about your neck discomfort . . . Love the new idea for tying the scarf . . , looks wonderful. When you feel better, can you do a tie tutorial? And does the scarf need to be square . . . Thank you . . . Be better, we AlL enjoy you!

Leslie: I sympathize about the back - me too! As soon as I find out what life is going to throw at me, I plan to book a massage, manicure and pedicure! Such luxury, I know, but so needed.
I will soon sit down for my 3:30 cup of tea - your lovely card sits on the table by my chair. It couldn`t have come at a better time. Thanks.
Love the colour of your scarf - I also like the knot!
You are ahead of us - our grape hyacinth is not in bloom just yet, but very soon!
Have a great weekend. Peg

I hope you feel better soon. I've been dealing with knee pain and allergies. Yuck. I like how you tied the scarf.

When you start swimming laps, if it's been awhile, it's very hard on your neck and upper back. I'd suggest one lesson with a swimming instructor, to look at your stroke, and help you so that it doesn't keep happening. I know, because this happened to me, and one lesson was all it took.
Hope you feel better.

Like the new way of wearing your scarf, very cute.

Hope you feel better soon, back pain is no fun!

A very pretty scarf Hostess and the colours are gorgeous. Just enough for us black and white girls.
Hope the pain disappears soon. As for any new google thingy (last post) I choose to bury my head in the sand. It's taken me long enough to learn blogging IT basics as is so change for change sake frustrates me no end.

What a pretty scarf, and I do like that tie!
My grape hyacinths have all been devoured by those marauding deer! Thanks for sharing a photo of yours.

So sorry for your pain in the neck. That is something I can relate to, having suffered from tension neck for decades.
These days, as I know mine were partly psychosomatic pains, I seldom have them, but when I do, I won´t hesitate to take painkillers first thing, as it only gets worse, if I wait.
Try to avoid draught, as it is the worst causer ( at least for me ). I even wear a soft shawl around my neck year around in the bed.
Riding the bicycle is bad too ( again the draught ). I can not imagine swimming either. But the good thing is, that doing stable work is good for my neck : ). Maybe you could volunteer to work at your sister´s stable ; ).
Anyways, try to relax your muscles over the weekend !!

That's a great scarf trick! I will have to try it myself! Hope you are feeling better soon!

That is my favorite yogurt too - the flavour is quite nice. Some yogurts can taste a bit fakey.

Hope you are feeling better! This week was absolutely ridiculous at work, I am going to try to lay low this weekend and relax after keeping up such an exhaustive pace all week.

Lovely scarf!

Another suggestion if you want to keep swimming - a lot of friends swim with a mask and snorkel so they don't have to move their neck at all. You get all the benefits of the workout, but no neck pain. Hope you're feeling better.

Hi!

It´s April first. Have you seen any changes made in the google, or was it just a April first joke???????????

We all need calcium and our bones will be stronger for it.

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

I hope that your back will feel better soon...it could be sore muscles after all your work.

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

If I could send rain believe me I would!

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

It sounds like we are all having sore backs.
I think the Thai massage sounds a bit rough! I'd have it done if it helped my back though, I am fed up with this nonsense.
Mr. HB and I enjoy the couples hot stone massages.
Hope you are having a great weekend.

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

Sounds like you know exactly what I am talking about...
hope you have fun with the new tie.

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

Thank you Duchesse...

I think I'll stop swimming laps for awhile...
and go back to the Yoga studio.

I love those grapes hyacinths!

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

How's your training coming?
How do you manage to train hard without getting injured...
any tips you care to share?

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

Bonnie I am not super great at staying still but have slowed down considerably.
Take care.

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

Your new ballet flats would look cute in amongst the grape hyacinths!

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

I'll make a note to do a tutorial on this...
yes the scarf does need to be square.

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

Sorry to hear that you are suffering Debbie...
I hope that you are sitting with your feet up and relaxing.

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

Oh I had no idea this would happen.
Kathy how long did it take for your neck and back to heal?
What course of treatment did you use?

I may give up lap swimming as it's been a major set back...
I will consider the aqua fit classes as many of the over 50 gals love it.

In the meantime I have signed up for a new Yoga class.
Hope you are feeling well.

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

Love your post on your entry hall and the flowers this morning it brightened my day!

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

The deer have eaten my new tulips!
So far they've left the hyacinths alone...but it's early days!

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

Funny that you mention about the scarf...
I put a wooly cowl on yesterday as I did feel very sensitive to the cold.

Can you recommend any exercises that worked for your neck issues?

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

Please let me know what you think of the tie...
maybe your Hermes scarf friend does this one too.

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

Hope you've managed to rest up and re-energize after your hectic week.
I think the texture and taste of this yogurt is divine :-)

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

It's a good idea but not really my style...thank you for the suggestion.

I might try the aqua fit classes as they are quite popular with the over 50 ladies at the pool.
I have signed up for a new Yoga class.

Mette,

I don't understand because the Blogger message was right at the top of my page...
Or perhaps it was an April Fools joke.... :-(

mette said...

Honestly, I have tried everything possible with professional help and by myself.
Having realized the source of my pains ( through therapy ), I seldom have neck pain anymore. And I am able to know what has caused it.
So, sadly, it is trying to avoid the draught. Painkillers, and a Volaren gel ( or similar ) spread over the hurting area + rest.
For me, it is important to medicate myself as soon as slight pain appears, waiting makes life a hell.

On a walk through Oak Bay on Thursday, I saw a family of four deer dining out in a pretty little garden. What a shock!

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

Is it the corner by Oak Bay Lodge?
the house with the white picket fence?
I've seen them there inside the yard and on the stairs munching the planters!

There were 5 in the cemetery on Friday at dusk...
they are everywhere!

I had acupuncture right away and it healed quickly. I love swimming laps and have no problem now when swimming. Hope you're better.

As I have just boasted having neck pains seldom, last night I woke up with an extremely stiff neck; having difficulties to turn in my bed with the pain.
A quick analysis of it as I grabbed my medicine : I had done no physical work on Saturday, Sunday. At this certain age, staying idle, is bad for the body and soul.
Feeling better now.
