Quicker pasta and the menu for New Years Eve.

There's a happy Hostess in the Humble Bungalow these days!
Pasta making just got so much easier...

My first ever Kitchen Aid attachment,
it works like a dream.

It only takes minutes to run it through
and it is so easy
I cannot believe how fast this happens and with very little effort on my part.

I use the food processor to make this pasta
Adrienne from La Vie Quotidienne
gave me the recipe and I love how easy it is to make.

I made a simple sauce
saute onions, garlic and mushrooms in olive oil
add a can of DOP Italian tomatoes
some red pepper flakes, salt and pepper
and simmer for about an hour to allow the flavours to meld.

Cook pasta in boiling water until al dente
fresh pasta takes less time
so check often

sprinkle some parmesan cheese on top

I am getting ready for New Year's Eve dinner
several couples are celebrating at the table
on the menu...

antipasto assortment
(my BFF calls this a "picky plate")
Caesar Salad
fresh Dungeness crab
served in the shell ready to pick
drawn butter, lemons, and ginger mayo dip

(which my BFF is making)

I haven't thought of any resolutions to make just yet...
self improvement is one that I often consider
giving back to the community is another
and I think there's a new hairstyle in my future
and possibly redesigning
 The Humble Bungalow Blog...

What resolutions are you making?

I hope that you will pop back in 2012.

Best wishes for a Healthy and Happy New Year!

  1. No resolutions yet, but I'm thinking....A very happy, healthy, and kind New Year to you Hostess.

  2. Enjoy your get together, everything sounds wonderful! Happy New Year!

  3. Yummy, yummy, yummy! I am so impressed, I don't think i could ever do this, I haven't bought any attachments for my KItchen aid yet either.
Have a lovely New Year dear Hostess!

  4. The pasta looks yummy! And your dinner sounds even yummier. Have a wonderful celebration, Hostess. Happy New Year!

  5. Your New Year's menu sounds absolutely scrumptious! We're doing just chili and finger foods, (champagne of course) and will have a quiet celebration with BIL and SIL, and maybe a couple of friends.

  6. I made your delicious yummie choc nut made my HB's day, mine as well.

I have enjoyed following your varied, informative blog, and look forward to sharing 2012.

Happy, healthy and prosperous New Year. Ida x

  7. I have the lose weight new years resolution at the top of the list. Then to declutter more, next to save money by being more careful with the shopping business, so I can plan another OS trip! And finally to post more often, just one a day even just with a single photo! Hard for me to simplify but I think I can do it now that I have the phone and iPad all worked out.
    Happy new years!
I'll be getting there before you down here in OZ! I'll be on Sydney Harbour at the naval base so will get fabulous piccies.

  8. I want your pasta attachment. I love fresh pasta. Thanks for the always-enjoyable blog. Happy 2012 to your and yours.

  9. Happy New Year! I used to make a big list of resolutions but for the first time ever...I would just like more of the same. Nice life, lots of activities, adorable son, good business...what more can someone hope for?

  10. Yum! I'm ready for some pasta! Have a Very Spaghetti New Year!

  11. I've never bought an attachment for my mixer and I've had it over twenty years. I think your post just inspired me! So delicious looking.

  12. I've looked at that KA attachment and wondered.....thanks for satisfying my curiosity! Your New Year's Eve plans sound wonderful!

  13. Mmmm home-made pasta, nothing like it!! I know you will have so much fun with it. Next maybe pasta carbonara or fettuccine with chicken. Oh, oh getting hungry!

Wishing You and Yours all the best in 2012!

  14. So you are throwing another party at New Year´s, wow!!
I do think about " good resolutions for the coming new year " every year, but somehow, I am not able to go through them all.
Like you, maybe some minor updating on my blog????????. A promise to be more frugal ; ), a better mother and a better wife!!!!!!!!!!!!
The frugality part is going to be difficult though; I am just so impulsive. I must concentrate on thinking first and acting second..

  15. I am seriously jealous of your pasta... the 'free gift' attachment I got with my mixer was a meat grinder...a pasta maker is so much better! Looking forward to more of the Humble Bungalow in 2012!

  16. I'm almost tempted to run out and buy a pasta Sue, I got the meat grinder...which I have no idea where it is. Happy new Year....your menu sounds perfect!

  17. Happy New Year my friend!!
Sending you all my very best wishes for 2012!!

  18. Dear Hostess, it all sounds quite delicious, I would love to be a guest at your table.
My New Year resolution is to try to maintain a regular pattern of exercise. Nothing excessive, just a bit of daily stretching to try and achieve a more supple body.
Wishing you a happy and healthy 2012.

  19. Happy New Year to you - sounds like a really good night - hope you had fun - i dont really make resolutions but i do have a think and i have decided to embrace my life in the country more as i am such a London Girl and always wish i was there xx

  20. Happy New Year!

I'm impressed by your pasta making. Your dinner looks divine!

LOL I had the same champagne this New Year's Eve, mainly because I just had my Christofle, Perrier Jouet silver tray replated; after being scratched beyond buffing, by a housekeeper!
