such a welcome change from the grey and gloomy February weather that has hung around for the past few weeks.
Living in the Pacific Northwest one gets used to these weather patterns but I never quite embrace them!
It's the clear blue skies and the sun that make my heart go pitter patter.
Blue Skies = Happiness
Oh there are many more things that make me joyful
but waking up to a sunny day does wonders for my mood.
the house lights up when the sun is shining
whites seem clearer and crisper
I love the glow of The Humble Bungalow when it is bathed in warmth.
this crystal hangs in the living room window
causing
prisms of light to dance on the walls
I picked up a couple of new books
that sound interesting.
I am filling up the book nook so I have some decent reading at the ready.
It gives me comfort to know that I have a stash of books nearby.
Heaven forbid that I should be at sea with nothing to read!
I know that summer is on the distant horizon
but when I spied these espadrilles I just had to say yes.
they are so very comfy
it's like walking on pillows
and the leather is buttery soft
Andre Assous is a Spanish Company
when I googled them I found out that he is considered the King of the Espadrilles!
Who knew?
If foot comfort is any reason why he has been crowned the King
I understand!
Life is too short to wear uncomfortable shoes.
Have yourself a lovely day
I hope that you've got something fun on the agenda and that the sun is shining where you live.

Are you going to be tuning in The Oscars this Sunday?
I know that I will!
I love seeing all the red carpet gowns and gems.
Mr. HB is outside pruning the roses as I finish up this post...
he is the "King of Pruning" here in The Humble Bungalow!
I think everyone should be appreciated for a superior talent and this is just one of his many gifts.
(I am one lucky woman)
Clean sheets are folded ready to be put away
and newly laundered pillows are in the dryer...
radio CBC 2 Drive is playing in the back ground and I am about to pop the kettle on for a pot of tea.
I have some reading to do for work this week and all I really want to do is to stick my nose into a new novel.
What's happening in your house?
Take care
Hostess

Your sunshine looks wonderful! We tend to take our sunshine too much for granted here, and are always hoping for more rain for the sake of our gardens! Those espadrilles are very cute, glad to hear they're comfortable too.
The blue sky always makes me happy. Both of those books look interesting. I still have a couple of unread books and I am revisiting some books from long ago. I can't be without something to read and I don't use my Kobo at home that much. I like real books with pretty covers. Spanish shoes seem to suit my feet well. I just bought several pair at a shoe sale at Lord's in Vancouver. Your afternoon sounds perfect. The weekend is not the weekend without CBC radio. Bon week-end!
It is a beautiful weekend here and I am spending it all in the garden ~ planting lots of annuals and other things. I am hoping for it to look spectacular this spring...fingers crossed!
I love the wallpaper in your bedroom ~ little prints have always been so charming.
I have great hopes for summer:). And you of course have your boat to look forward to!
Your new shoes look so darling and the soft leather looks heavenly. I too enjoyed todays glorious skies by way of doing errands around town.
Tomorrow is my day off and I feel that my silver tea service and tray are calling for a proper polish so I'll be doing that while watching PBS "Masterpiece Contemporary" saw the commerical and it looks intriguing. I may try to catch the Oscar pre-show, like you...to gander at the gowns and bling.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend and lets hope we will have more sunshine come Sunday :)
Oh you are so right with the blue skies equals happiness equation, that's all it takes to put me in a great mood, it makes such a difference.
I long for some warm weather, had a week of freezing -2 grey clouds surround the Barn.Ida
I sunbathed. A bumble bee landed on my fluffy robe and I think she wanted to make a nest in it. Doesn't that mean a very early spring?
It was a very short sun bath. I am careful with my skin, of course. :)
It's a slushy day in NH, a Sunday, and quiet. I am writing notes, thank-you and sympathy, nice papers and pen at hand. A walk nomatterwhat. Soup, homemade bread, and a pumpkin custard.
We've been having beautiful sunny skies here the last few days. Feels and looks like spring is already here.
Great shoes! That leather looks so soft. I bet they feel lovely on.
I have several pairs of those espadrilles!! You're so right about comfy shoes. The sun is shining here today and it definitely lifts my spirits. I'm making bread today, doing a little gardening then knitting while we watch the Oscars. Pretty much a perfect day.
Hostess, Lovely shoes .... can you share the name of the shop? (I am in Courtenay, but often venture to the deep south!) Have you seen the reviews for 'Parade's End'? It will be starting soon on HBO and is promised to be even better than Downton Abbey. Based on the books by Ford Maddox Ford; I got the trilogy on Amazon for my Kindle for a very modest price. Cheers,Kris
We too had a sunny day over here today. One of the first for weeks, months..
As our house has an aged panelling, it is exciting to see how the sun moves around the house from room to room and shares it´s light mysteriously.
Naturally, when we first moved in, my first thought was to paint everything white, but we didn´t.
We´d miss the special atmosphere of the old wood.
I had espadrilles perhaps in the early 80´s. At the time, they wore out really quickly.
I bet nowadays there are better made ones.
My Summer at Tiffany's is a wonderful book about a tine when Midwestern college girls who were very daring want to NYC to work for the summer. It's a great read.
I live in Chicago and a local store here carries Andre Assous - great espadrilles and I bought a pair of blue sued loafers 20 years ago that are as stylish today as they were then. I am alwayS on the lookout for his shoes.
Oh I'll have to check that masterpiece out...
I have also heard that Parade's End is brilliant and really popular in the UK.
I hope it comes soon to PBS.
We have our boat listed for sale...
it takes quite a lot of work to keep up with all the bright work and we are now wanting to have our holidays other than on the ocean!
Sheree I like your enthusiasm and wit!
It's true...everyone here seems happier when the sun is shining.
Yum your menu sounds delicious!
Adrienne,
Looks like we are sharing the same weather on the west coast. My garden crocuses are blooming and the daffodils are nearly open!
The shoes are so comfy and soft and I am looking forward to wearing them.
What are you knitting? I am working on simple dish cloths!
Hi Kris,
I have heard about Parade's End...it is getting rave reviews in the UK and the DVD was the top seller at Christmas. The shoes were brand new with tags and I discovered them at a local consignment shop. I see they are for sale online so you can shop from your computer!
It's true that many people want to paint the dark wood panelling white. We have a heritage home and it is meant to be dark wainscotting. There are a lot of bungalows in the area and many people have painted the wood walls and some if the colours are hideous!
I am hoping that these shoes do last but if they do not they are so comfy that I will order more!
Maybe I'll start that novel first!
When we go to Seattle next month I am going to see if I can find a shoe store that sells them because I do love shopping for shoes!
A rather quiet weekend here in the country. Our normally hot weather turned to grey skies, a bit of rain and lots of humidity, but the sun is back today! Love soft leather - shall keep my eyes out for the King's shoes on my next trip to Sydney. You scored again! Hope you had a lovely weekend with your new books ... and may a good week be in store. Let's see what the Oscars have in store! xxx
Still in recovery mode around here, but slowly getting better. The weather has been beautiful and sunny as well, and I did take a nice walk yesterday. Love your espadrilles, they're not meant to be hard working shoes, so don't worry about them wearing out - they're meant for fun.
Your novels look like fun reads, and hope you had a chance to start one of them.
What a lovely weekend! I enjoyed the oscars and was thrilled that "Argo" won for best picture. Isn't it a good feeling to have a stack of new books waiting to be read. I also can't wait for "Parade's End" -- one of your readers mentioned it. Hopefully it will fill the void now that "Downton" is over. Have a wonderful week! Love your espadrilles!
