OOTD and then it's leftover Turkey Tuesday...

As the Hostess and cook I like to wear cool "food friendly" attire.
(it's hot in the kitchen)

My Christmas OOTD was a sleeveless LBD with black beaded flowers,
charcoal hose and black slingback shoes.

A black apron protected me from splatters...
I added a little bit of bling just because I felt like it...

Rhinestone Sherman pin
circa 1960

The Humble Bungalow Christmas table....
set in black with some silver accents.

Plain and simple.

Pepper wanted to jump up on the table
so we had to put her downstairs until dinner was finished!

On a walk in our neighbourhood
 we found some cedar cuttings
and I popped them into some matte white vintage pottery.

They sit on the window ledge above our sink.

I put the reindeer on the boughs
they were the centre piece
they looked lovely flickering in the candle light.

It's the Tuesday after Christmas and we have dined on turkey sandwiches with gravy dip...
decadent and tasty,
if it were not pouring rain I would have gone for a long long walk today.

We sat in front of the warm fire in the Bungalow living room and read books this evening.
There is such luxury in reading and relaxing.

The paper whites
 are pretty and perky
and have shown no signs of wilting.

I, on the other hand, feel like crawling into bed early
between the cool sateen sheets
cocooning with my book
sleeping long
to awake refreshed
ready to greet the day
renewed
with energy and an optimistic view.

I received the DVD
"Midnight in Paris"
and am keen to watch it.

Mr. HB gave me a Spa Package at my favourite hotel.
I am going to savour that gift...
Thanks darling!

I'd like to take a moment to thank you all
for your gift of visiting me here in The Humble Bungalow.
I value your comments
and hope that you will keep coming back.

I hope that you have been enjoying your time with family and friends.

Happy Holidays
and
Sweet Dreams

Hugs from the Hostess

What a gorgeous brooch!
Your home looks so serene and inviting. I'd love to curl up with a good book and Pepper if I lived at the Humble Bungalow, too! xo, A

Beautiful table setting, very dramatic.
I was so hot whilst cooking I had to keep stripping off! I felt like an 18th century cook, I really really need to get a window put into the kitchen, I think I'll die in the heat one day.

It looks and sounds like you had the perfect Christmas Leslie...I like your style, as always. Gorgeous pin!!

I am two books down and one to go...just have to decide which one. :) Best wishes for a very Happy New Year. I look forward to sharing and reading along with the hostess of the humble bungalow in 2012. :)

Your table looks so great, very dramatic. Love the brooch. In family photos of holidays, since I'm always the one slaving away in the kitchen, I always look like a mess, sweaty hair, cooking friendly clothing, etc. Must re-think this. Hmmm. An apron, good idea.

I too love your brooch and the comfy look of the "humble bungalow."

A spa gift makes for a darling husband indeed!
Happy New Year . . .

Sounds and looks as if you hosted and enjoyed an elegant, warm, family Christmas. You well deserve some cocooning now -- take care! (and yes, didn't it pour yesterday!)

Your Christmas table looks so elegant and serene. And your brooch, just amazing! It's a beauty. I'll bet those cedar boughs added some nice fragrance to the bungalow.

We`re still in relaxation mode here, after a rather large dinner party to celebrate TGD`s birthday last night.
Your table looks lovely - I`m sure that all around it must have felt the elegance, if elegance can be felt!
It`s still pouring out here!

Oooh, lots to love here. The 'sarnis' with a gravy dip, (yum), your beautiful table arrrangement, your outfit for Christmas and the film Midnight in Paris. Watched it on the plane over here and really enjoyed it. Am sure you will too. xx

I also received the DVD "Midnight in Paris" and can't wait to watch it again. I am also relaxing, doing a little light cooking (I'm on a healthy kick after the decadence of the holidays), and reading, but not in front of a fire as it is so warm in Los Angeles today! Looking forward to the next year at "The Bungalow"! Happy Holidays!
