Weight Watchers...and watching out the window.

Our kitchen window looks out toward the neighbours yard.
My laptop sits atop a quarter sawn oak trestle arts and crafts table so when emailing or blogging I can observe the work going on next door.

Here's a low Weight Watcher point breakfast that I ate a few days ago.
Low fat cottage cheese and fresh fruit.
I have been unable to focus on my WW since Mother passed away but now I need to get back on track.

It is proving to be more of a challenge this time...
I am trying to be disciplined but think I am in trouble and I may need to go back to the meetings as they really helped me before.

Coffee first thing in the morning is my only "real" caffeine of the day.
The rest of the time I opt for decaf beverages or I have trouble sleeping at night.

Dinner one boneless skinless chicken thigh,
curried quinoa and brown rice
salad with 1 Tbsp. of low point yogurt dressing.

Our views from the kitchen window are changing daily and dramatically...

This used to be a demolition site...just a big hole.
Things are taking shape as the building is being erected.

A basement and main are being framed here...

And here is the view a couple of days later
There will be two new homes on this site.

Breakfast this morning was a symphony in red and white.
I have not seen any movement on the scale so far but I am not discouraged.
My pants feel looser so that's a good sign.

We are celebrating Canada's 150th birthday tomorrow on July 1st
there are a lot of people expected to attend the events on the lawn of the legislative buildings at the Inner Harbour.
I plan to avoid the crowds as I do not like getting jostled or stepped on and because I am so short I can never really see what's going on!

Mr. HB hung the flag up and we are hoping to watch the fireworks
from our neighbourhood.

Happy Canada Day!

Hope you have a lovely weekend.
I'll be back on the blog in a few days...

Your breakfast looks like mine. Mango and low-fat cottage cheese. Yesterday my daughter
(-90 pounds now) came for a swim and I made quinoa with kale, almonds and chopped pear salad. I'm not going to the parade either but I might go to listen to some of the music in Steveston. The weather is great and I have an invitation to Saltspring next week so life is good. Enjoy the week-end!

I'm having the same breakfast as you! I didn't even know it was a low point breakfast on WW, altho I SHOULD! You have my sympathies - grief is a tough thing to get through.

Hostess, I just have to tell you how much I enjoy reading your blog. It is like a calming mental hug to view your beautiful photos and read about your joys as well as struggles. Yours is one of my favorite blogs (and not just because I share Canadian pride!) I look forward to your posts so thanks for the time you spend doing this and for the inspiration! Happy Canada Day!

Happy Canada Day to all of you from a reader in the Arizona desert! I will be flying my Canadian flag in your honor-my grandmother lived in Saskatchewan in the 1920's so I honor her as well :) Thanks so much for creating this lovely and inspiring blog. Your roses are such a highlight of my day and seeing the gorgeous scenery in your area lifts my spirits when it is hot and dry and colorless here. Enjoy your special events this weekend!!

Happy Canada Day! I'm with you on avoiding the crowds. For us it will be a day with some of our family here, which seems the perfect way to celebrate. And when I thought about it yesterday it struck me how representative of this wonderful country and its mix of people from all over the world we are. Jay and Ella were born here, I was born in the US, Rebekah in Korea, and Anton in Russia. I'm proud to live in such a welcoming place.

I've done WW during several different times in my life and the only time I lost weight was when I went to the meetings. They were the magic bullet for me. Hang in there. I'm impressed with your tenacity. Happy Canada Day!! Sorry I missed seeing you. Hopefully one day soon we can meet for tea.

Love your blog. Go easy on yourself. You've been through a terrible trauma. Be nice to yourself. I'm sure your mother would want that of you.

Happy Canada Day Hostess, and I love your red and white breakfast, so apt!
My, how the view is changing for you as that building rises. I hope it does not cut out too much light for you and the garden.

Hi Leslie-

Trying to lose weight is the pits. Happy Canada Day! I grew up in northern Michigan, and I remember we always had a crush on those Canadian hockey players when they came to town! Made the local boys mad. LOL. Keep moving, and I will, too.

Happy Canada Day!

All of you meals look delicious. Yummy and so healthy.

Have you tried using a fiber supplement such as Benefiber to help with weight control. They are healthy, natural, and help you feel full. I use it to add fiber to my diet for diverticulitis, I just mix a tbs in a tall glass of water everyday with my lunch - you don't even taste it. It might be worth a try and it certainly can't harm you.

How kind of you to mention your thoughts...when publishing a blog we writers only know if the posts are appreciated by the feedback left in comments and emails sent by readers...so thank you.

I do not know where you are living but it is a privilege to share the Humble Bungalow garden roses...I thank you for stopping by to see them!

We watched the fireworks from Moss Rocks just a couple of streets away from our home...hundreds of other people had the same idea but it was not as crowded as the Inner Harbour. Canada is a mix...the more I look around the more I realize how we have changed since I grew up...its become a vibrant community here in Victoria.

I will wait out the summer before I rejoin WW as there is so much happening here right now. Scheduled holidays on the boat and at the cottage with the family and the garden needs my focus...
Next time you know that you are coming up this way perhaps we can plan ahead and arrange a meeting.

It's odd but I had forgotten about cottage cheese, perhaps because yogurt is so popular...
I have done some research on green drinks and smoothies but the point counts tend to be higher and I am not sure that they would satisfy my hunger for as long as fresh fruit and cottage cheese...so this is my current WW breakfast.

Happy Belated Canada Day to you too!
The meals are NOT a hardship at all...it's avoiding potato chips and extra helpings which tend to derail my progress!

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

Sandra, wise words...I am not trying to be too tough on myself...just getting back into a bit more responsible way of eating so I do not need to buy a new wardrobe in a bigger size!

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

The views are definitely changing...I am just so happy that 2 young families are going to be our new neighbours. I do not think that the garden will be impacted at all by the new home...and our new neighbour tells me she loves the idea of having her own garden! I can already visualize sharing plants with her.

Great advice..the "reframing" of our attitude is a sensible approach to the way we think about things.

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

Ah...we do have a lot of hockey players in Canada!
Trying to lose weight is work but well worth it when one succeeds...
"little by little my waist I will whittle!"

I have not considered a fibre supplement...I already eat quite a lot of leafy greens and veggies. It sounds worth checking out...Thank you for this idea.
