August greetings...sunny daze.

Thank you for your well wishes on my blogging break...
I am enjoying my time off line and thinking of post ideas as I spend my days leisurely reading, walking and relaxing in the warm summer sun.

Today is the first day of August...and I thought that I would check in.

I have started this book and have read about 5 books in the past few weeks.
This one is taking me awhile to get into it but the characters are quirky and their lives seem very dysfunctional.

I have been wearing these lovely fresh water grey baroque pearls most days.
Darling daughter gave me these last Christmas.
They elevate the simple outfits that I have been wearing.
With the hot days I have been wearing a simple black bamboo dress that is loose.
My straw hat and prescription sunglasses have been essential to keep the sun off my face.

I tend to keep my summer skincare routine light and simple.

Eminence sunscreen powder is water resistant and goes on easily with a brush.
I use it after cleansing and moisturizing.
Then apply with a big brush a dusting of Jane Iredale's foundation.

Lastly a light application of
Jane Iredale's mascara and her lip plumper in the Tokyo shade.

Keeping hydrated with a lime margarita on the deck!
So I will close for now and get back to my book.

I hope that your summer is going well.
I will be back soon.

Happy B.C. Day! I'm getting a little tired of reading about dysfunctional families but I will put
a reserve on The Nest. I enjoyed I'll See You in Paris, perhaps because I've been by Quai Bethune lots of times. Enjoy the sunshine! It came along a little late but the last few days have been beautiful.

May I suggest a book titled June. I really loved it.Miranda Whitmore. Actually I have liked all her work, June stands out.

So glad that you are enjoying your break. I have started "The Nest" and while I can't say that it's gripping me - I will stay with it and give it chance before I make a decision on how much I like it.]Your pearls are beautiful and so unusual - I bet they look wonderful on.
Enjoy yourself.

Good to hear your voice again. Continue to enjoy the summer,we haven't had much of a summer here in the north of England, but we should be off to the south of France shortly.
Looking forward to having you back after your break.

On deck with a lime margarita sounds like Summer bliss to me, Hostess. Your grey pearls are lovely, a colour I have not seen here. Enjoy your break!

Lovely to see your post again, but appreciate that you need a break at times. Love the pearls, really pretty and would go with almost anything. Not sure about the book. My current reading (apart from research about the re-building of London after the Great Fire of 1666 about which I have been asked to write for a magazine) I have been enjoying Michelle Gable's A Paris Apartment and on the strength of it will buy her next novel. For something quite different might I suggest The House in Quill Court by Charlotte Betts (an historical, but a very good read.)
Enjoy your break, return to us refreshed.

Really loving your blog. I also use some Jane Iredale products and the Eminence sunscreen powder is my favourite. I have my eyelashes dyed in the summer to avoid mascara.

Just finished reading The Nest. I would have given it the title The Dysfunctionals. Too many characters to follow, each with their own crisis in life, and surprisingly, a rainbow ending for a family encountering some serious bumps in the road. Oh well, it makes for good reading as long as the dysfunction isn't happening to you.
