(Julian's newest novel did not disappoint, both Mr. HB and I enjoyed it)
We spent our days aboard our boat relaxing, reading, eating simple meals and walking and exploring the Gulf Islands.
I have to lose some weight as a result of too much rich food and wine...
I will be organizing a series of blog posts on how I plan to lose 10 pounds.
Perhaps you'll follow along on my journey...
There is a pile of laundry downstairs...the machines are going through their cycles as I sit here in the Humble Bungalow kitchen with my cafe creme typing this post.
The cats seem happy to see us...lots of meowing and purring.
They were left in the capable hands of a friend who has been taking care of them for our holidays for several years now and knows them well.
Chester seems a wee bit put out that we left him for so long and he is giving us the cold shoulder. I hope he forgives us soon, but thankfully Pepper the elder cat is her usual affectionate self.
Beach combing is one of my favourite things to do when we are out on our boat.
Sea shells and beach glass are often found along the shoreline.
A very large barnacle which we use for our coins...
showers, laundry and ice at the Marina's call for coins.
Loonies and Twonies
kept handy inside this vessel.
The view going through the gap between North and South Pender Islands.
Jude the Obscure rose was a stalwart on the trip...
even fading in the heat
the fragrance was a welcome reminder of our Humble Bungalow Garden.
Stay tuned for more holiday snippets and snapshots.
Thank you for stopping by The Humble Bungalow Blog.
Hope that your summer is ticking along nicely.

Just lovely. Obviously a good time was had by all (the cats maybe not so much).
Welcome home. You have been missed. I hope you feel relaxed and happy to be home. I will follow your weight loss posts with interest as I need to lose a similar amount.
It sounds like you gad a grand time doing all the things that you should do on a boat in the Gulf Islands!
I will join you on your 10 lb journey. Please keep me posted. A summer of eating g with two growing boys has added a little to my 'profile'.
Happy that you're back and that you had a lovely break. I'll follow along and hope to shed 10 pounds, too.
NancyO.
Looks like a lovely trip, Hostess! Can't wait to read more.
What a beautiful holiday! Thank you for sharing your memories and photos with us. It's winter here and a bit of sun and sea is just what I need right now.

Welcome home, Leslie, the holiday sounds perfect. Lovely pics.
I can relate to that big welcome-back, though I now have just the one cat, but it goes on for days after you get home, eh? I get a cat-shadow 24/7 which even follows me into loo!
Hope you feel nicely rested.
Nothing better than spending time on the water. Sounds like you had a wonderful time. Hopefully, both cats will be back to themselves. Amazing how they miss us, and let us know when we return.
It is hard to watch our diet when on holiday. Not meant to be! I am sure you will get back to your exercise and diet later.
Again, what lovely pictures of your little getaway, weather looked good..I will be more than happy to join you in shedding 10 pounds..it could be fun with some help with our friends...
Lovely post ! Looks like you both had a relaxing, beautiful week. Enjoying the spectacular scenery and slowing down a bit...Thank you for sharing your beautiful photos - I've missed you !
What gorgeous photos - you live in such a wonderful part of the country. So glad that you and your husband had such a lovely break.
Your cruising holiday looks beautiful! I love the Gulf Islands. I've put in a reserve for Belgravia at the library. I have stayed in the area often and it speaks of another time. Monsieur and I are away right now and I just had a delicious dinner of Alaska scallops, zucchini, arugula and potato mash (didn't eat) and two glasses of wine. Those pounds do creep up. We've our dog with us so tomorrow I will walk early. Th cats must be glad to have
you back.
You are "truly blessed" to live in such a beautiful part of the world and to see it from a boat as you glide by must be wonderful.
I'm relaxed just by reading of YOUR vacation! I'm always on the hunt for good reads and will search this one out... I penned in "82" into my journal beside the date. I've been on the Fast-5 plan of eating for 82 days. I've lost at least 20 pounds. Another 10 would place me where I'd like to be permanently. I shall follow your progress while I continue the Fast-5 lifestyle.
Welcome back - I love that barnacle, so sculptural.
Looks like you had a perfectly relaxing holiday! Thanks for sharing. Suz from Vancouver
What a lovely vacation! I will have to try and find that book, thank you for sharing.
Thankfully the cats seem to have forgiven us for being away!
Oh fabulous! Marilyn I am glad that we will be embarking on this journey together.
Good to hear Pondside we know what we need to do to get back on track but doing it with a friend or friends who are there to support and cheer each other on makes it much easier.
I hope that we can all be successful...I have a few more holiday posts and then will get busy on the weight challenge.
Thank you Sue...your recent photos are absolutely stunning and you really do look radiant in the light of Paris.
I often forget that our seasons are opposites...hope this wee bit of sea and sun warmed your day.
Chester has forgotten now and is snuggling and purring again...he follows me into the bathroom as well! The pair of them actually follow me around the house as I do my chores...more like dogs in that sense.
Oh I knew I was in trouble when I bought chips and dips and started having wine with lunches. Not as much walking and lots of time sitting reading...well now I need to get back on track!
The weather was simply grand...
It will be fun chatting and sharing our weight loss stories.
Thank you Patricia...we had a great time away and I definitely feel rested.
Look forward to catching up on my blog reading too.
We are very fortunate to live where we do...and the scenery is quite photogenic!
Dinner sounds delicious and I don't think I could have avoided the potatoes!
Great will power...having a dog must really help you get out walking on a regular basis several times a day...a good weight loss tip!
Indeed we are Kerrie...
the photos that you post on your blog always look so beautiful, serene and idyllic.
Congratulations on your weight loss! I will have to read about the fast 5 plan...
I will probably resume my point counting that i learned at Weight Watchers as I know it well and it worked for me.
Thank you Kathy...I loved seeing the photos of your trip on IG. It looks like you had a splendid time exploring the various countries that you visited.
It feels good to be back at home and getting back into a regular routine.
Thank you Suz,
we relaxed as much as possible and read as many books as we could!
Hope you enjoy the book...have you read his other two books Snobs and Past Imperfect?
This summer is flying by! So many gatherings, times spent with grandchildren and evenings out with hubby. I have not been "paying attention" to my weight, as the French say, so I will be delighted to join you when you begin to weight watch.
Your vacation looked lovely. I'm jealous.
Lovely photos! You seem to have great vacations
I am just reading Belgravia having much fun-I love his books as well as series
Hope for happy ending :-)
Dottoressa
Love the roses and cats, also all the hints that you so generously share. Please may I join in your wonderful weight loss journey?
Janice
Welcome home! I'm so glad you and Mr. HB had a nice relaxing holiday! Your pictures are always welcome. Cats are so funny about their people going away. Good luck with the weight loss.
Mary Lou
Great to have you follow along on the challenge...summertime dining and BBQ's are plentiful and it can be tough to maintain one's weight.
I won't spoil it for you!
Of course Janice we are all in this together and the more the merrier.
Thank you marmielu!
Hope that you will stay tuned for a couple more holiday posts.
