Fresh from Seattle...

My previous post generated an amazing number of comments and responses.
Thank You!

I had no idea that it would create such a flurry of emails and comments.

Thank you for taking the time to write and for sharing your thoughts...
Just knowing that google was responsible for the sudden drop in followers makes me feel better.

I write the blog as a hobby, not as a job and post only when I feel the desire.

Readers are important...I'd be kidding you if I said it didn't matter.
It is not for the "approval" as one commenter mentioned...
there is comfort knowing that there is an audience of readers out there.

So without further adieu...

Mr. HB and I have been away on a little jaunt to Seattle and we returned last night to our cozy Bungalow, which was well taken care of by our house sitter...who also took great care of our cats.

View from the BC Ferry crossing the Strait of Georgia.

The Clarks are super comfy and we walked a lot!

The new leather cross body bag by Maggie turned out to be a winner.
Not too big and the area at the front has a pocket for my IPhone which is handy for taking pictures!
My carry on bag had plenty of room as I packed light.

I wore my Barbour jacket
NYDJ skinny version
took various Eileen Fisher tops
a dressy pair of ponte knit pants
my new coral top and sweater.
a warm grey knit pullover
Burberry cashmere scarf
walking shoes by Clarks Artisan

It was chilly walking around downtown in Seattle and there were rain showers.
I got a chill and so I kept sipping hot beverages.
Turns out the chill was a warning of a cold coming on.
It is the first cold that I have had in over a year!

Pike Place Market is always on our list of spots to visit when we go to Seattle.

The flowers are really beautiful and so reasonably priced...

Love white bouquets with simple greenery.

We had lunch at a French cafe...
the menu was much like those I visited in Paris.
Ham, baguettes and cornichons.
Olives, salads, oysters, terrines, sausages.
We enjoyed a steaming hot bowl of French onion soup.

When we visit Seattle we always stay at The Mayflower Park Hotel.
It is comfortable, the location is close to shopping and situated close to many fabulous restaurants.
Valet parking, an award winning bar ~ Oliver's
a restaurant  ~ Andaluca
wonderful ambiance
comfy beds
lovely decor
prompt room service
fresh flowers
The staff are efficient, polite and friendly.

Old world charm built in 1927...the same year that my Mother was born!

I'll be keeping close to home until I shake this cold.
Will work on a few more snippets from our trip and post them when I get time.

Thank you for stopping by The Humble Bungalow Blog!

Our younger son lived in Seattle at one time during his college years. We loved visiting him there and your photos bring back those memories.

So glad to hear that you managed to have a wonderful visit to Seattle before your cold set in. Hope you manage to shake it off before long. Take care!

So glad you've stayed on here! Take good care of yourself and get better. Hope you have a good book to read while you're holed up. I'm just over a bad cold myself. On my first outing upon my recovery, I went to my hairdresser for a cut. There was a horrible incident and she somehow snipped the end of my nose. I am completely traumatized, but the doctors are assuring me I should heal without need of plastic surgery. That old nursery rhyme keeps going through my mind...Sing a Song of Sixpence. This line: Along came a blackbird and pecked off her nose! I think I shall go stark raving mad if I don't soon get it out of my head.
Get better!

I'm so glad you decided to stay. I admit to being horrible with writing responses to posts but I follow you religiously. You are secretly like an old friend now! :)

I'm so glad you are continuing your blog. I love your writing, the photos and your view of life. Although I don't know you, when I read your blog you seem like an old friend. Maybe it's your obvious love for where you live, your stage in life, or just your observations, I enjoy reading about it. Thank you.

From Margie in Toronto - so glad to hear that you had a lovely break - just recovering from a cold myself so you have my sympathies.
And very glad that you are going to stay blogging - love your photos.

Hooray! so glad you decided to keep blogging. Always look forward to your thoughts, activities and pictures - such serenity and calmness. We are looking forward to our one day in Victoria and also one day in Seattle when we visit for an inside passage cruise, travelling from Australia. Not long enough in either place I know (we have been to amazing BC before) but hope to get a taste and come back for more. Your blog is worth the visit, so glad you decided to stay.

I haven't been to Seattle in two years - the last time was to the Northwest Flower and Garden show. This post made me wish to hop on the ferry and head south of the border!

I'd just discovered your blog as you wrote your last post, so I am glad to know you will be writing more. Seattle looks lovely. I would like to have a look around that market. I enjoyed your pictures of the hotel too.
I hope your cold is soon better.

What a nice trip that was, just the sort we like. Isn't a cross-body bag brilliant? I took one on my last trip and I won't travel without one again.
Take Care Leslie, hope you feel better soon. xo

I hope it is the quick version too not that awful bug that my friends have had for 6 weeks...fingers crossed. I have been following your Rome pictures on IG...lovely spot!

Yikes...
Avene makes a great product for healing called Ciciflate which speeds up healing and has an anti scarring effect...the gal at my local pharmacy used it after her thyroid surgery...no scarring at all.
Hope your haircut worked out...your hairdresser must be in shock.

Thank you Mary Lou...am knitting on my new project...more in the next post!

Sounds like good advice...Instagram are snippets and snapshots of the moments and actually quite fun. My lovely daughter @thingfinder got me started ....she has a huge following currently around 21K...her etsy shop is thethingfinders you might like to check her out as she specializes in jewelry.

Hi Dana...nice to hear from you... please don't feel that you need to write...reading is enough, we are all busy and have demands on our time...my post was not written to make anyone feel guilt!

When the time gets closer please email me and I will give you a few ideas of things to see and do when you are in Victoria.

Love to go to the Flower and Garden shows...I am volunteering at The Orchid Show in Victoria again this year. Such great specimens are on display and the sale prices on the plants are really enticing...perhaps you'll enjoy it too?

Hope that your weather gets better...we have a gloomy grey morning here so far but I see the sun is trying hard to peek out of the clouds...

I am taking care...not taking any chances. I cannot see my Mom when I am ill as she is so susceptible to pneumonia and upper respiratory infections...will not be seeing her until I have no symptoms.

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

It is a winner!
I took my big Coach and my Banana Republic bags to the consignment shop after the doctor told me that I was not to carry any more heavy things as my shoulder injury is a warning of things to come if I persist!

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

Welcome...hope that you will enjoy the blog.
The Market is huge and has been in operation for many many years...it is an iconic Seattle landmark. There are tours too if you ever decide to visit.

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

The bag is a really a great buy...Winners carried several varieties and at a decent price point. Love hands free options when travelling...just makes everything so much easier.

Hostess, thank you for the tip about the Avene product. The doctor yesterday recommended Vitamin E oil, but I do trust Avene. I will look into it immediately. Yes, my hairdresser is beside herself. She phoned again today to check on me. She has been my hairdresser for ten years and has always taken such good care of my unruly, curly hair. This freak accident will not end our relationship. I mean, what are the chances this could happen again? Ironically (is that the right word?), this last one was an excellent haircut. The accident occurred on the very last snip. Again, thanks for the tip.

First things first. You're makeover is beautiful. It's the real you but with a little more emphasis. I find that with my grey hair I do need more contrast between my skin and hair and eye and everything. You look really good with that emphasis!

I hope you try the Avene Cicflate...after seeing the results of no visible scarring after a surgery to the throat I was very impressed. It is in high demand...

The extra coverage and colour make up does help especially on gloomy days...and now that I own a few more colourful items in my wardrobe I am able to look and feel brighter!

I'm a bit behind in my blog reading, so didn't realize until today that you had posted about the loss in blog followers. I had seen a warning about the change in Google's policy a couple weeks ago, so when I lost a few I knew what was going on. I can see how upsetting it would have been for you though, not knowing about Google's new policy. Every once in awhile I lose a follower and it always leaves me wondering why, and if I have said something that has offended them. I'm so glad you have decided to keep at your blog. I always enjoy reading it!

It looks like you had a lovely time in Seattle, and knowing you had a capable house sitter to look after things while you were away must have made it even better. :-)
