Fabulous Finds

Darling daughter has an incredible gift for finding things...
she recently found me a couple of fabulous finds.

On Instagram she is known as thingfinder and she has an Etsy shop thethingfinders.

She works hard at finding things...
regularly frequenting the shops and antique dealers in town.
Her knowledge of jewelry, antiques and collectibles is vast...
I am in awe of her skills.

She knows a bargain and here are two of her latest finds
which she sold to me for a song.

Vintage leather Fossil bag in mint condition.

Cross Body bags are the only bags for me now
as I am not supposed to carry heavy handbags anymore.
"Doctor's orders"

A leather wallet, also in mint condition,
please look closer...

Kate Spade

gold lettering
immaculate even stitching
soft supple leather

polka dots

luxurious
a quality piece in every way

lots of compartments
plenty of room for money and cards

looks great with pearls

 a classic watch

or a silk scarf...

These two leather pieces will be so useful.

There is ample room in my closet now as I recently consigned all my big bags.
I took a bag of clothes that "I fell out of love with" to the charity shop.
There's a piece of vintage Navajo turquoise en route to my house from a dealer in the States.
I plan to wear it with my thrifted crisp white shirt and faded blue jean jacket
for Spring and Summer.
Can hardly wait for it to arrive!

Garance has a list of her favourite things in this gem of a book.
I hope you plan to read it if you have not yet done so...
she is a breath of fresh air.

Have you happened upon any Fabulous Finds?

So lucky you have a daughter who has found you these gorgeous things. I'm also lucky she doesn't ship to Australia.
Love the Kate Spade wallet so love a polka dot lining.
I've been busy in my study sorting and chucking again I have a bag of books and bits and pieces for our local charity shop.
So can't believe how much there is to get rid off in this house even though I'd describe myself as not a hoarder.
Slowly slowly I'm beginning to shed some weigh I don't care how long it takes me I'm determined to get there ( well this week anyway)
Always enjoy your blog.

Your daughter has such a good eye! I hope your shoulder is healing up, are you feeling any better? I remember in an interview Garance Dore said "everyone should have a blog it's such a creative outlet". I always think of that when people ask me why I write a blog. I must read that book!
I hope your share your turquoise piece with us it sounds stunning! XO

I have some really heavy purses that I should consign because they hurt my neck and shoulders. Your daughter does have a talent! I have not bought one thing since I have been in Mexico but I might buy another bangle.

From Margie in Toronto - I am very envious of hat cross body bag - since I walk with a cane those are what I tend to favour. I did a clear out of my old and cheap bags and invested in 3 Dooney & Bourke bags (all when a deal was to be had) and 2 are cross body. I look on them as an investment that I will have for years.
My latest fabulous find was a dressy winter coat that I bought a couple of weeks ago for less than 1/3 of the original price. It is a classic navy blue wool and again, I should be able to wear it for years.
I just switched to a new wallet - it was a gift and a good make - but I'm not sure about the size - I'll have to give it a try for a few weeks to see if it's a keeper.
Can't wait to see the turquoise purchase - I've always loved it as a stone but never seem to have any luck with it - lost the stone out of a ring and lost a bracelet when the clasp came loose!

I hope your shoulder is feeling better as each day passes. As one who has experienced it, I know it's important to stretch the muscles. Most of my purses are hand carry, and I switched sides and carry it with my bad arm. I think the weight helps to elongate and stretch out my (still) somewhat shortened left arm.

My latest fabulous find was a Chanel coat at less than half price. This NEVER happens to me!

I agree, I feel very spoiled indeed!

I think she will ship to Australia you just need to ask for a quote and insurance...she had a parcel stolen en route to Hong Kong...a beautiful diamond eternity band, so she is taking extra precautions now to insure that this does not happen again.
As to hoarding...it is wise to keep on top of the clutter that accumulates...it happens here too in our tiny bungalow...one day I will open a drawer and sigh...then get busy and start editing.
Weigh loss takes time and dedication...and when the time is right (or not!) you can address it...there are other priorities that are currently more important...
Thank you Karen!

My shoulder responded well after my massage treatment...it was amazing!
Isn't Garance adorable?...she would be fun to meet in person.
Blogging is creative on so many levels...the photography, the writing, the themes...it is a great hobby.

Oh no! your pain is a warning...please rid yourself of those heavy bags before you do any serious damage.
Mexican silver bangles are beautiful and that would make a lovely souvenir from your trip!

I love the quality of Dooney and Bourke bags...their styles are classic and the leather is heavy enough to hold the shape of the designs.
Will show the turquoise necklace next post!

Oh la la a Chanel bargain! Love the sounds of that and I hope you will share it with us on your blog!
Massage has helped and I have booked several more sessions...trying to focus on other things while it heals...distractions like shopping, walking and reading seem to be the best medicine!

It is a nice little perk up...the happy is coming back!

Oh and darling daughter has a few vintage leather Coach bags...she has quite a few iconic and classic handbags...she has a great sense of style...I love learning tricks from the younger generation.

Oh she does love her gems...and has a great eye. I think it is her art history degree and the fact that I pushed the pram up and down Fort Street (Antique Row) since the children were babes! She got to see beautiful things from an early age...
The parcel arrived and I will post a picture of the necklace next time.

I have a green turquoise pendant I bought on a trip to Santa Fe. I wear it frequently, since green seems to go with everything. I like purchasing jewelry when traveling because of the memories evoked each time I wear a piece. One of my friends always buys tea towels - certainly better for the budget. And I must comment on your manicure - lovely! I'm still trying, but the polish always pools at the base of my nails (not a good look).

I always find lovely items on Ebay and a couple of consignment shops in my city. I have had no problems with any of my purchases-most are new or in excellent used condition. I have worn designer labels for many years now for a fraction of the cost and classics are timeless. I love Etsy for handmade items and am never disappointed when shopping from any of their artists whether jewelry or clothing.
Hope your shoulder feels better. Does your climate affect joints being painful/stiff?

I love vintage bags and your daughter has found you some smashers. You are wise to avoid shoulder bags right now.

Thank you for sharing your daughter's Easy shop. I know the two of you have a lot of fun together.

Amazing finds! especially love that wallet. I also had to start carrying light, and reduced everything in my bag to the minimum. I have put all of my point cards into an app call stocard, so handy at the till they just scan the card directly from my phone. Also, thanks for the scones recipe, a big hit:)
Cheers
Rita

Ooh la la! Love Fossil and Kate Spade, love the story about pushing the Priam up & down the street near antique shops. So excited about the new ring - looking forward to that post. Recently purchased a beautiful sapphire and diamond ring from local jewelry store "going out of business." Got a great deal. Had many wonderful memories of that store. Cleaned out mine own closet, donated to my cousins, Goodwill, My Sisters Closet. Love Coach, Dooney & Burke, Fossil. Andalso Vera Bradley (made here in Indiana) assorted sizes cloth bags, many styles cross body available in stores and on line. Very popular in Midwest.

Hi Hostess, I catching up on your posts, so sorry to see you have frozen shoulder! I went through it 2 years ago and the physical therapy did it for me - the PT you can do on your own helps but you cannot move your shoulder yourself the way it needs to be manipulated, so I hope you are getting more than "massage." If not please find another physical therapist. I was in a lot of pain for 6 months and had about 90% relief after a few weeks of physical therapy. I also found this website on frozen shoulder extremely helpful: https://www.frozenshoulder.com
I did not go to a therapist using this particular technique, but still had good results.
Hope you are feeling better and your new leather goods are lovely!

Your Santa Fe souvenir sounds lovely! Jewelry is something one can always keep and wear and is such a great reminder of a holiday.
It has taken me quite awhile to practise the art of polish! I was terrible at the application but I watched the gal at the spa and she had some great techniques. Try having a professional manicure and watch closely...ask questions and you will be able to perfect it...trust me, if I can do it you can too! My toes on the other hand are too difficult...all the bending and the hand eye co-ordination do not work!

Our damp climate may be a factor with aging joints...my shoulder is getting a wee bit better.
Etsy and Ebay have so many lovely things...I have spent several hours browsing the sites.

My cross body bags are very light...I have edited the contents and no longer carry too much. I don't know why I used to put so much stuff into my bags which were already heavy empty!

We do enjoy thrift and antique shopping...we are currently hunting for a dress for her to wear when she elopes!

Rita...that app sounds like a great idea...great way to de-clutter one's wallet.
Glad you enjoyed the scone recipe!

The turquoise tribal piece is a necklace.
Your new ring sounds lovely...I have a diamond and sapphire ring too it is the same style that Diana princess of Wales was given as her engagement ring, and now Kate MIddleton wears...mine has a much smaller centre stone!
We have My Sister's Closet here in Victoria, it is a local independent consignment shop and is in my neighbourhood!

I am having physiotherapy, doing exercises at home and weekly massage therapy...I have not seen the specialist at the sports medicine clinic yet but I feel that we are on the right track.
That link explains frozen shoulder...as does the Mayo Clinic website.
It surprise me that so many women have had or suffer from this syndrome...it would be nice to know more about the underlying cause but scientists still do not know the answer.

Wise words. I've whittled down over the years too but Rita below is light years ahead of me! Small bags (or pockets!) are now my contents police and and when I carry a small bag, man, I feel like a lady!

Beautiful finds! Sometimes older pieces are higher quality and better made than the newer in store items. Your daughter has very good taste and her ability to find nice things is exemplary. Lucky Mom!
