I've got the blues...OOTD

Today I'm wearing a BOHO OOTD...
an asymmetrical tunic top in indigo and cobalt blues.

The top is a bit of a departure from my usual conservative classics but it's such a bright and energetic piece that when I put it on I feel instantly happy!
I love the power of colour.

There is black mesh at the neck and the bottom with a section of the hem gathered up on one side...
made by Papillon.

Yes my hair is wet but it is too hot to blow dry it this morning.
I snapped this photo to show a new CC cream that the gals at the Pharmasave told me about...

It's specifically made for those of us with rosacea.

I am so in love with my new Mulberry back pack bag.
Shopping and walking is so much easier and it's fashionable too...
it's smaller than my usual bags which makes my shoulders happy!

The Paris inspired red lipstick is getting lots of wear.
It's inexpensive, made by Maybelline, and the shade is called Pleasure Me Red!

I pulled out my sapphire ring when we took Mother out last Sunday for her birthday and I have been wearing it ever since...

Mother celebrated her birthday in style at The Empress Hotel's Bengal Lounge.
My sister and our spouses surprised her with a dinner in her honour...
it's not everyday that one turns 88.

I wore my Jones of NY wrap dress to dinner.

The jingle jangle of the bangles...

It's been a fairly quiet week so far.
The weather has been hot and I have been keeping the blinds closed to maintain the cool here in our Humble Bungalow.
I've been outdoors dead heading the roses like mad...they LOVE this hot weather!

I picked a bouquet of white Iceberg roses and placed them in the Vintage French pottery jug that I bought on my recent trip. They look lovely in our wee bathroom on the main floor.
So that about wraps it up for now...
our darling grand daughter turns 5 this weekend and I am wondering where the time has gone...
how can she be 5 already?

Hope your week is ticking along nicely...

Every time you mention the Empress Hotel, I think about summertime 39 years ago when my husband and I spent several nights there while on our honeymoon. What a lovely hotel it was.

Your mother's surprise dinner sounds like a fine celebration! Happy Birthday to her.

Every time I visit Victoria with my Maman, I take her to the Bengal Room. That blue is very pretty on you. I did not take a hairdryer to Mexico and have been drying naturally. With a good haircut, my waves fall quite nicely. I really like that lipstick on you and I might give it a try. It does seem that time flies, it is 4 years since I retired. We must enjoy each and every day.

Why would that sapphire ring ever be put away?! It's beautiful! Happy birthday to your mother!

From Margie in Toronto - lovely shades of blue - and I do envy you that lovely ring! What a wonderful birthday treat for your mother - I've been to the Empress once for Tea and it was wonderful.
Can you get that cream at the drugstore or is it at a specialist shop? I have Rosacea (along with allergies especially to certain cosmetics) and would love to try it.
Love Red Lipsticks - will have to look for that one - normally I use Chanel's "Gabriel #19" but it is very expensive - worth checking out Maybelline.

We’re missing the picture of the white Iceberg roses in the Vintage French pottery jug!

The Empress is a classic hotel...very luxurious and I think iconic would describe it's stature in our city. Nice to hear that you enjoyed your stay on your honeymoon! My husband and I stayed their on our wedding night too....over 40 years ago.

Your hair looked great in the photos I saw of you in Mexico! Bumble and Bumble just launched a new product which is made for those of us who prefer not to blow dry our hair....am going to give it a try and see what it is like. Aveda Be Curly is a good one for your kind of hair.

I have several rings that I only wear occasionally and this sapphire and diamond gets worn sporadically. I have a really pretty Art Deco diamond ring too which I am thinking of having made into a pendant as I don't wear it often enough as a ring. Some people like to wear many rings at a time but I am a creature of habit and usually just wear my wedding set.

I think you have Pharmacys that will carry the CC cream...Shoppers, Pharmasave, Anne Rexall carry it here in our city and we are much smaller than Toronto so I don't think you'll have to go far to find it. Ask for a sample like I did and try it for a few Days to make sure that you don't have a reaction...it comes in one shade and goes on really easily. Let me know what you think if you try it.

I love CC creams, they are so light on the skin. I use Clinique's but how nice you found one that is perfect for you.

Your new top is lovely, what a great color.

Love the backpack! I have been thinking about going back to one for some time. Is it big enough for all you carry?

Wear that lovely ring daily! Life is too short to keep things for special days. Everyday is special. My 92 year old mother took me to lunch today for my 63rd birthday! I'm taking my daughter out to dinner tonight for her 35th birthday.! Gemini twinnies !! Ann

I have a new Hobo wallet which is much smaller than my former Hobo so yes I can fit all that I need inside the backpack. I carry a wallet sunglasses lipstick keys and a few other small items.

It's a big stone and I am not that careful when I garden and clean house so I do keep it for dressier occasions. My wedding set are worn all the time...except when kneading dough for bread or pizza!
My goodness three Geminis and 3 generations!

Lovely post! I have to join the chorus - blue is a great colour for you! And it's good to choose an item of clothing that is unusual for you - it really does make you feel pretty. I have thoroughly enjoyed your posts featuring your trip to France. I am impressed with how thoughtful you were in choosing items to bring home. Not souvenirs really - more like memories in a physical form. And Happy Belated Birthday to your Mother. Looks like a wonderful celebration. Thank you for sharing so much of yourself and your life thru this blog. I thoroughly enjoy reading each post!

I love your tunic! I quite like the look of asymmetrical tunics, and am thinking about trying my hand at sewing one for myself. Thanks for the tip about the CC cream. I bought some yesterday to try out. Happy birthday to your granddaughter!
