This is a black post so if you are looking for colour you'll be disappointed!
In Canada, shopping Black Friday is relatively new, but for our neighbours to the south it is the kickoff for the season of holiday shopping. Stores open early and there are sales galore.
It sounds quite crazy when people camp out or stand in line for hours waiting for the stores to open...
I suppose it is no different than standing in line to get tickets to see Bruce Springsteen and I seem to recall doing that many years ago.
I was able to take part in a little bit of Black Friday shopping but it was only Thursday!
The shop I was in was having a "black friday sale" and all black garments were 25% off!

Adrienne of La Vie Quotidienne mentioned how much she liked the Benefit mascara
with it's new wand.
This mascara was also the best seller at Sephora so I decided to take her advice and give this a test drive.
There should be four candles alight...
you may ask why.
Let's pretend this is cake shall we?
The Humble Bungalow Blog is celebrating a four year anniversary today.
The blogging journey has been full of surprises.
Writing has opened up many opportunities for growth.
Who knew that through blogging that I would forge new friendships near and far.
The Humble Bungalow Blog has become a part of my everyday routine....
whether I am thinking about a future post or taking a picture of something beautiful.
The blog material is never far from my mind.
I think I look more closely at everything around me than I ever did before.
Often it is the ordinary and simple things that inspire my posts.
I plan to keep blogging as long as I have something to say.
I hope that you will be interested enough in what I have to say to stop by...
To those who read my blog and comment I am very grateful.

Congratulations on your anniversary, Hostess! Keep it up ...please :)
Congratulations on your blogiversary. You are an inspiration. I find it fascinating
to read of your life on the opposite side of the world to me.
Always a joy to read your blog, thank you for sharing and congratulations!
About your love of black, I completely understand how safe it feels, but did you ever try dark blue, dark green or chocolate brown ? these colors are usually much more friendly and softer to our complexion.
Greetings,Sarah van Amsterdam
Congrats on your anniversary - Here is to many more!

Happy anniversary. I love to read your blog wherever I am or whatever I am doing. Your new coat is very feminine and I am sure that you will get a lot of use from it during the holiday season.
Congratulations on your 4 year anniversary of blogging. We all appreciate so much how much love, effort and artistic expression goes into your blog.
Just a quick note about the savoury shortbread recipes. To a regular shortbread recipe of 1 cup unsalted butter, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 tsp vanilla, 1/2 tsp salt and 1 3/4 cups, can add either 3/4 tsp of curry powder to the flour and then roll in coconut for Curry-Coconut shortbread or add 1 T chopped fresh rosemary( 1 tsp dry) with 1/2 tsp red chili flakes for Italian shortbread. Sprinkle with fresh rosemary before baking.
Congratulations on your 4th blog anniversary - I thoroughly enjoy visiting with you - it is a welcome part of my morning routine. I may not comment but I am definitely enjoying your blog.
Four years! They fly by, don't they? I'm glad you started blogging and that I stumbled across your blog. I enjoy my visits to The Humble Bungalow and your calm, cosy and elegant approach to life. Here's to many more years!

Joyeux blogiversaire! xxx
Congratulations on your anniversary. I have moved through many blogs in the past few years, however yours has remained bookmarked. It is unique and I hope you continue to share your thoughts with us!
The dreaded 'black Friday'has popped up over here! I dislike sales + I never wear black.
Congratulations on your 4 yrs of blogging.Am still hunting for a decent mascara, bought the Chanel and I looked like a panda 2 hrs later total waste of money grrrr.
I've only been reading your blog for a few months now, but it is among my favorites. You have a real gift for expressing comfort, joy, and contentment.
No shopping here on Black Friday. I might look around a bit on the internet, but only because I am resting from several days of Thanksgiving cooking.
Congratulations on your 4th blogiversary! I look forward to your posts and always enjoy the content. I do have a question about your Chillox coat. I am searching for a warm coat for winter walks and this coat looks like exactly what I need but I can't locate the brand online. Are they still available do you know? BTW you look fantastic and I so admire you for sticking with the program. I know how difficult it can be.
I have a new navy Lands' End cashmere cardigan and I like the colour. I usd to wear forest green and browns but I have kept most of my wardrobe to the greys and blacks. It's so easy getting dressed when one has fewer colours to contend with, well at least for me.
Thank you! I love the sound of the coconut and curry together...
OOPS I realized that I mis-spelled the coat name, try CHILLAX. I got results online when I googled it.
Good luck!
Happy, happy, happy blogaversary! Congratulations on your growth, all you have learned, and all you give to us your readers.
Happy fourth anniversary! May there be many more.
After trying all kinds of mascara, including some that are so expensive I would never own up to having bought them, and still looking like a raccoon with black rubbed off all round my eyes, I gave the Benefit mascara a go. Absolutely fantastic!
Do you know why it's called Black Friday? Because stores can be pushed into the black after the day's sales.
I want to mention that I use Loreal's mascara called Voluminous. I've used this same mascara since high school (which was in the 1960s). Yes, I've tried all kinds of mascara, many of them costly as far as mascara is concerned, but have always returned to my drug store mascara. It is the best for my eyelashes, which are NOT voluminous.
Congratulations on 4 years! Very impressive. I will be here, as long as you are. Cheers, Violet.
Happy 4 year anniversary for you and your blog. It's always a pleasure to come here and read. Please let us know what you think of the mascara.
I've done the same Hostess. I still own some other colors, but black and gray make things easier for me. Today, I had to go to an unexpected funeral and did not have a full complement of clothing choices out at our farm. My EF black pants, a thin flat weave gray mock turtleneck wool sweater and a lovely scarf made an acceptable substitute for what I might have chosen from my closet at home. I attribute some of the suitability to the colors--if I had worn green or some other color, the look would have been to casual.
Joining everyone else here, and sending my Congratulations and Thank You´s for you.
Four years is a long time.
You have managed to keep your very first readers and quite a bunch of newer ones have joined in.
Over here, we know about The Black Friday, but people are given a chance to celebrate an anti- Black Friday, called: Don´t shop anything Day!
I like the latter better, and followed it.
Congrats on four years! It's a real accomplishment to keep up blogging let alone a quality one like yours! You should be proud… Loving the coat! The sleeves are so cute. I also have had that Benefit mascara and like it..Hope you had a nice weekend !
xx Kim
