Home cooking, a caterer's web launch and robots reading blogs!

Mr. HB is busy fixing up my laundry room and the basement
and to keep him going I have been indulging his palate with tasty dinners.

His new favourite is Giada's Chicken Cacciatore...

Served atop spaghetti noodles

Here's the method...
in pictures.

This made a lot so invite friends or family over
or be prepared to enjoy leftovers.
Mr. HB raved about this dish and he mentioned that he thought it was better the second evening!

BTW my friend Julie the talented caterer has her website up and running.
I have posted a picture on the side bar you can easily check it out by clicking on the picture.

Bon appetit!

Is anyone else frustrated with Blogger making me prove that "I am not a robot" when commenting on blogs?
I disabled that feature on my blog a long time ago
and those were the days when one word was enough and now we are asked to type two!
I wonder if that has reduced the amount of comments on certain blogs.
Have your blog comments dwindled?

Why would a robot read blogs anyhow?
Blogger are you listening
or are you a robot?

:-)

The weather is not Springlike or warm
and when I was away it snowed....
and that was during our Sun Salutations at the island Yoga class !

my Christmas cactus is blooming too...

Oh, I can almost smell the cacciatore!! And just looking at those pictures is making me hungry.

After about the third user complaint, I disabled the word verification on my blog too. If I start to see a lot of spam, guess I'll have to enable comment moderation, but am hoping to avoid that.

I am so hungry right now I could reach through my laptop and gobble that chicken up!

I have been frustrated with the robot issue, too. It's not really that big of a deal to not have it on. All the spam ends up in your spam box anyway. I just clean mine out every day or so.

We're freezing here in San Francisco!

Enjoying 70-80's here in glorious New England!! Cactus in bloom - check. Yoga on the beach - check. Two words have me not affected. If you've put the time in to blog, I'm here for you! However silly it may become. BLOG ON! :)

I am sorry to hear about your sister in law....I do hope she is resting comfortably and that you will have an opportunity to have a visit soon.
Hugs to you all.

Really? Mr. HB and I LOVE SF! There must be fog....
Well there was snow dotting the hills and highways on my drive south today and BRR it is chilly.
I have ordered 2 new bathing suits from Lands End and they may only get used in the lap pool :-)

Keep warm Lisa.
I'm going to wear my socks to bed tonight!

It's freezing in the Fraser Valley, but when I call home I hear that it's not much better! Good luck to your friend as she launches her business.

Not at all spring over here, so I have had to create it myself ( Thursday post ).
ARGH. I´m fed up with the robot thing. I can´t make up the letters. And the new format ( at least on my blog ), makes me go back to the start half the time, as the " mouse " on the side refuses to move!!!!
My blog has never had a word identification. So far, I have not had any problems with unnecessary comments.
But the new comment format is driving me nuts. Can´t WE do anything about it???????????????????????????????????
Btw., your food looks as delicious as ever : ).

The food looks fabulous - important to keep the Laundry Room and basement renos going too!! And I am also very annoyed and frustrated with that silly words/robot thing!! x

Looks delicious! I totally agree with you on the word verification thing; I hate it and sometimes it does keep me from commenting.

Yes, the robot word verification thing is crazy and it does at times keep me from commenting.
Your chicken looks amazing, as does all your cooking.

My sister who lives up your way had to use the truck as the snow and ice were too much for her BMW convertible this week!

I think we can suggest to those bloggers who still have word verification enabled to turn it off on their blogs...I find that I get very little SPAM so it's not a problem for me so far.
I am also having trouble with managing the blogs that I follow but the mouse on the side seems to work for me.

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

The words that we are requested to type are so difficult to read too!

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

It's tedious and after writing a lengthy comment losing it feels like a slap in the face...

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

I suppose the message is that bloggers who want comments should disable word verification...
it's that simple.

That chicken looks so good -- thanks for helping me decide what to cook for dinner tonight.

And that was such a funny image -- robots reading blogs!!! My son has lots of toy robots -- maybe they need to start their own blog so they won't need to comment on human blogs.

It isn't blogger putting this on blog...it's the owner of the blog! I did a piece last week about it...everyone needs to take it off. If people dont want spam they should stop writing a blog that is nothing but free ads for companies who are laughing all the way to the bank. The web-bots troll for key words!

Oh my you are singing to the choir! I hafe an intensive dislike about the word verification. I wrote about it a while back. It is so hard for me to make out the words. I don't get that much spam and it is so much easier for people to comment.
And if those robots are reading my blog they probably roll over on their backs and die laughing at how boring it is.

I have one of Giada's cookbooks. She is so lovely and sweet and has such a beautiful family. I disabled the CAPTCHA on my blog too. It's such a pain. I wish all bloggers would disable it. I also wish all bloggers would add the ability to subscribe via email.

The climate is completely backwards this year - here in Toronto we are out in shirt sleeves, tulips! are up, the grass is green. It worries me at the same time as I enjoy it..strange times.

I too find I am commenting less often with the new unreadable verification words. Half the time I get them wrong and give up, it's so aggravating!

Anonymous said...

Yes--I share your frustration with the captcha feature. It really does slow down the comments.

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

Glad that I could help you decide!
If those robots are reading this they've probably already started blogging :-)

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

I know I've had mine disabled for years...
I don't know if any web bots ever visit here!

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

Debbie fear not your blog is not boring!

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

Gina's so adorable and no bigger than a minute!
What are your favourite recipes that she makes?

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

I saw that Toronto was basking in warm weather...
it's usually out west we are "bragging" so it's payback time !

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

I just popped over to see what you are up to on your blog and I empathize with your sleep deprivation...
and I though we needed less sleep as we got older but as an older gal who loves her 9 hours it's just not true!
Sweet dreams...

Hostess you know the way to keep a man happy via his tummy!

HATE that word verification can't make the words out,it is ruining my eyesight!!

We are having warm Spring weather here, the daffodils are dancing along
the lanes,I sat outside with my coffee yesterday morning...bliss.

Beautiful Christmas cactus. Ida

Dear Hostess

I totally support your comments about word identification. I have lost so many comments - sigh- and I have stopped making comments because I cannot distinguish the words and I become enraged, "No, I am not a robot, but I cannot read the words..."

So no comments. Sad, because people who take the trouble to write a blog deserve feedback. (Thank you for the pleasure of your posts.)

Sue

By now you have heard the world verification is to stop auto-spamming.

Reading/typing the words gets easier and think of it, Sue, as a way to do your bit against the creeps who not only spam but use other people's servers to send the worst kind of material you can imagine.

Yum! Made this last evening I'm sure the Oyster Bay made all the difference and that you drank the rest of the bottle with the meal. Can't beat a great NZ wine - eh?
