OOTD and some things BLUE.

There are more blue garments creeping into my basic black and grey wardrobe.
I seem to be drawn to this colour...
With the grey hair multiplying the blues seem to be a flattering shade.

Stripes and patterned tops.

These will be worn with white UP pants and NYDJ jeans.
I recently discovered UP pants and they are super stretchy and very comfortable.
I found mine in a shop in the Cook Street Village area of Victoria.

OOTD
Yoga class attire
Mom's cashmere cardigan Jones of NY
white tee Joe Fresh
yoga pants Reflex
shoes Jungla

These are not instruments of torture
they are props for my Yoga practice.

Since joining the Yoga studio I have had far less hip and knee pain.
It is noticeable...and I welcome the relief.

There is an Osteo class several times a week at the studio
I think it might be my favourite class.
Having been diagnosed with osteopenia years ago
I know how important it is to be mindful of the risks of breakage.
Building and maintaining bone mass and bone density is a priority.

Walking and weigh bearing exercise can help with bone building...
and now the Yoga moves using the spiky ball and the belt.
Here is an article from Harvard that you might find interesting.

Women with osteo issues are prone to fractures of the ribs and hips
so by working on igniting the osteoblasts and building bone density we can avoid some of the pitfalls of the condition.

Have you invited some brighter colours into your wardrobe lately?

I would love to invite brighter colors into my wardrobe Hostess--if only I could find items that would work for me. I like the tops that you are pictured.

No bright colors in the closet for me. Seems I'm happiest with the black/grey/olive side of life, with some bright jewelry thrown in to add a pop of color. The navy bits in your wardrobe are very pretty.

Blue is my accent colour with grey and white for winter. I like your batik/ikat dress. I have a similar print in a linen tunic.I like turquoise for sunny seaside/beach times but I did buy a red dress in Oaxaca just because I was getting tired of blue/beige and white. I really try to follow Janice Riggs' wardrobe planning capsules but colour calls to me sometimes. I have almost identical blue shoes that I bought at Ingledew's about 18 months ago. I will need new ones soon because I have just about worn mine out. My daughter is joining the community centre this week so I probably will go to yoga with her. Flexibility and core strength are so important as we age.

To read the yoga article above, I would have had to log in to the journal. Here is the entire article as available from the U.S. National Library of Medicine:

(It helps to be a medical editor and know where to look!)

Hope this helps,

I was at a shop trying on some clothing and a sales clerk brought me a blue top and I was hesitant at first but once I had it on I realized that it worked. I would not have been drawn to blue unless this clerk had persuaded me to try it!

I could wear olive when my hair was a different shade of brown with auburn highlights. Now it does not suit me but I like it on others. Accessories in bright colours are a great way to spice up a neutral palette.

Turquoise would be stunning on you!
My blue shoes are sooo comfy, and assuming yours are too that it why you need to replace them already! Hope you enjoy your Yoga class.

Love those tops. I love blue and wear it quite a lot particularly in the summer. I have just discovered UP pants and totally agree with you on the comfort and fit. I am going to read the article you suggest.

Love your shoes. I tend to wear neutrals, but occasionally will go all out with color - sort of one or the other.

I've never heard of UP clothing before and a Google search has turned up nothing! Can you pass along a few more specifics, as they sound promising!

Blue is a very good color for you! Love the tops you bought. I will read the article as I was diagnosed with osteoporosis just this year. We well-seasoned ladies need to take good care of ourselves. xoxo

Both of your new tops are lovely. I haven't bought any new summer clothes yet this year, been too busy with other things but I intend to eventually. What you purchased should work in perfectly with your wardrobe.

I picture the blues are beautiful with your coloring, Leslie. I've added more color to my wardrobe this year than in the past ten, so I count it as a win!! Color is uplifting and hopeful so I see it as a good sign. I envy you your yoga practice. I am struggling to get myself to class. And I need too. Xx

After a winter and spring in black/navy and white,I need to add colour in my life during summer (although the basics are white, navy and black trousers)-so I love a couple of floral dresses and the emerald one
Blue seems beautiful for you

Oh, I love bright colours, and am always trying to make myself be more subtle! I think it is the very hot sunny climate where we live which encourages the brights. But I love your blues, particularly those shoes which I would have in a heartbeat. That is so interesting about yoga and osteo - I have a bit of that, and find my daily walks essential to avoid knee and spinal pain.

I have bought flame trousers. Rather loving them. Re yoga. I had to give up as my knees were worse due to cartilage issues. Sadly. I am getting joint pain nowadays.

Google UP! Pants with the exclamation mark and you will find them!

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

The pants come in so many great colours and prints that I am tempted to buy another pair!

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

It was the colour and also the comfort of the shoes that wooed me! 💙

Anna posted and linked the article in its entirety so I hope you can read it all.

I find that summer tops wear out quicker than winter ones...probably because I launder them more frequently. Your garden must be looking lovely this summer....you work hard to keep it in shape and I imagine your freshly decorated room offers you a magnificent view in which to enjoy your tea!

It is a challenge to go to yoga when one is away from home but I brought my mat and strap and spiky ball with me. You could do the same in your RV!

I love a floral print dress for spring and summer. They feel so fresh and feminine. You'll more than likely get a lot of compliments when you wear them.

It is so important to keep moving. I read an article about back pain and exercise is the key to helping manage the pain.

Your new trousers sound very bold! What fun to have s statement pair in your wardrobe!

Blue has been my go to color since letting my hair go naturally gray a few years ago. I have blue, gray, black, and white wardrobe, in that order. I gave up all the warmer tones. Even with the blue, I find my wardrobe becoming monotonous and have started adding in little touches of red, pink, or purple. Blue and white is still my favorite color combo though.

Love your new pieces. Blue and turquoise are my go to accents also. Yoga is the best activity for all as we age no matter what physical problems we may have. The most important part of yoga is strengthening your core. I have been doing "chair" yoga due to my arthritis, back pain and balance issues. I can't tell you how much improved I am after years of thinking yoga wasn't for me.

Blue and turquoise are my go to accents colors as well. Yoga has been such an important activity for me. I have arthritis, back pain and balance issues. By strengthening my core and improving flexibility I am so much improved. I think its a necessary addition to our lives as we age and have more physical issues. There are so many types of yoga to fit your needs. Mine is "chair" yoga, a friend in her 80's does senior yoga. my daughter does two different types - one can always find what's right for them. I love your exercise plan as well as the pops of blue in your wardrobe. We have to keep moving and yoga is such a great option. I've been doing it for years and it has helped my sciatica and hopefully strengthened my bones. Have a wonderful weekend!

Yes to color!!!! Have definitely added more color to my wardrobe. Cobalt blue, bright rich green, bright pink, etc. I was up in San Francisco and went to the Cut Loose factory store and found great summer tops in a bright array of colors. I simply cannot buy another black item! I have started shots of Prolia for my Osteopina. I also plan on starting Pilates. I'm right therewith you Leslie.

Sounds like a great palette...it is interesting how when our hair goes grey that we need to change up what colours we wear.

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

Yoga is great! I am a fan and it has many health benefits...glad that it is helping you too.

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

The over 50 and the osteo classes are best suited to my needs and balance is very important as we age...there are some lovely older women in the classes...I'd hazard a guess that some are pushing 80!

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

Yoga is gentle and the core strengthening poses are helping me get stronger.
It seems to ease pains in my joints after a day of gardening too!

You wear colour so well and as you paint I can see that you would be very tempted to have many shades in your wardrobe. I like the Cut Loose brand of clothing we can buy it here too...I am especially fond of their linen garments for summer.
My GP has not suggested that treatment for me...I hope it helps you to keep active!
