Thinking of Paris...

The Friday the 13th events in Paris have been shocking...
(and I humbly apologize for the unfortunate timing of my previous post.)

I published a post on Paris several hours before hearing the news and many readers wanted me to pull it down.

Mr. HB and I were stunned as we stared at the large TV screen aboard a BC Ferry.
We were going to visit friends who had just returned from France.

While we were stuck in gridlock traffic we listened in silence to the CBC and learned more details of the violence as more information emerged from Paris.

Grieving for those who lost their lives and those who have been injured...
listening to the news of people lining up for hours to donate blood and attending candle light vigils...singing...
Parisians are showing such dignity and courage.

I hope that people will not be afraid and continue to visit Paris.
It is a beautiful city with so much culture, charming cafes, galleries, museums, parks, monuments, churches, shops, restaurants, wide boulevards, bridges and the Seine running right though it.

J'adore Paris.

Beautiful photos of a city you hold so dear! One of my clients earlier today has a trip to Paris coming up soon and she's still excited to go. I hope their tourism is not hit hard by this terrible tragedy.

Don't pull down your older post - some of us post ahead of time, and we were caught looking awkward by the timing of the heinous crimes. But that's a reflection on THEM, and not on us, who love and cherish Paris.

I follow both your & Janice's blog, please you both should not feel badly for your posts! One of the main reasons I have followed you both is because you speak of Paris in such a loving way, which is the way it still should be spoken about. We cannot be afraid to express our love for something that is dear to us. In fact, LOVE is what we all need to be expressing to everyone, I'm so tired of seeing & hearing about hatred in the world. May we all work toward peace in the world, even if it's with little acts of kindness.

Paris is my "spiritual home" and I feel so sad for those who have suffered from such a senseless, violent act. However, the spirit of Paris and its people are what has made it "unsinkable." Your beautiful photos and your loving reminiscences are indeed a fine tribute to the city and its inhabitants.

Paris is strong and the world (in my eyes) stands with them.

It is the misguided act of the individuals that took so many innocent lives that we must shun.
Your photos of Paris are wonderful. Thank you for sharing. We love you Paris! Susan

Vive La France! Your post was wonderful, full of love for the city of light, and expressed exactly what we all love about Paris. No need to worry about timing or take down the post.

I'm glad that you didn't remove your post, Leslie. Yes, the timing was unfortunate, but you were thinking of Paris and the people in it with fond memories and love on a day when it turns out they needed all the love they can get. It was a lovely, happy post from your heart. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this tragedy and for the wonderful pictures in this blog as well.

Beautiful photos of Paris, Hostess. I have stood in many of those places too, and enjoy being there once more via your pictures. Thank you for sharing, and caring, for this gorgeous city of light.

Why on earth did people say to take down the post? If anything it shows genuine love and affection for a city and your feelings for the city are unmarred and I think it is wonderful that the city that is known as the city of light gives you such joy and happiness. That is the power of Paris. I am glad you kept the post because taking down the post would not prove anything and only succumb to those joyless bastard terrorists who are trying to ruin the joys that the city brings to people who don't even live there. it has a power to inspire. Vive Paris!

My husband and I were in Paris for the first time last year and we are booked for the next visit in May 2016. Thanks for your posts and pictures.

You have absolutely no need to apologize, and I can't imagine why some readers of your blog asked you to remove the post. It must have been very upsetting for you to see that TV coverage on the ferry. When you have been to a city and fallen in love with it a part of it becomes yours in a way.

By the time I read your previous post the Paris attacks had taken place, but I did realise that you had posted even earlier. Don't remove it, please. I once spent 10 days in Paris, and, like many, have wonderful memories that will never be spoilt.
