White Wednesday....

On Wednesdays many bloggers used to write post and title them "White Wednesdays"...
well I am resurrecting the practise with this post.
It's a short one as I am busy and cannot devote as much time as I would like to this post.
Living in the moment, being fully present and involved requires effort, energy and time.
So to sit and write at the laptop becomes less frequent...hence my daily speedy post on Instagram.

The Dogwood Tree is blooming in the front...
the branches hang over our drive from the neighbours yard and we get to enjoy the waxy blooms.
When I see the flowers I am reminded of peace, harmony and beauty.
Simple creamy white forms that can yield perfection...
grateful for the opportunity to witness and appreciate such beauty.

The tall nodding snowdrops are still putting on a show.

We purchased several packages of bulbs a few seasons ago
they are multiplying and filling the beds our front yard...
(Hope the deer do not like to eat these!)

The broken rake that hangs on the fence has a visitor...
let's take a closer look shall we?

Behold the lowly garden snail.

The vintage crystal door knob looks quite out of place outdoors...
next to the rusted door plate...
on the French door that opens the weathered grey cedar garden shed.
As you can see I've taken liberties with the white themed post!

Oh and I have been shopping!
I have purchased some new white enamel pots.
Our chartreuse Dutch Oven has seen better days...
so it is out with the old and in with the new.
A wee bit of a splurge I know, but well worth it to have decent tools in the kitchen.

I'll be making soup and a stew this week...some to eat and some to give away.
There is illness about ~ some more serious than others...
we are crossing our fingers for a positive outcome but we cannot control it.

"Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don't resist them - that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like."

Oodles to do before I leave for Paris and so I am focused on tending to those details...
I may be posting sporadically before I leave.
I'll be on Instagram if you want to keep in touch...

Elizabeth George's first Inspector Lynley book "The Great Deliverance" beckons...
so I'll close for now.

Tell me what you've been up to this past week...

Your white photos are beautiful. The dogwood makes me think of the gardens of home. One of our neighbours planted a dogwood tree when his wife passed away and this year, he is no longer with us. There is but a thread dividing life and death. As we get older, this becomes more obvious. Today, I am back at the Lending Library. It's odd that I am so happy doing jobs that I did before I retired (teaching and library work) for no income. I guess that the beautiful thing about retirement is the freedom of choice.I borrowed at pile of books on Monday and I am reading a biography, The Prison Angel, about a nun who went to live with the prisoners in a Mexican prison. I hope that you take care so that you are well for the Paris trip.

Oh my what happened with your kiwi LC pots?! They should last forever! But I love the new white. I so wish LC made white. I know they have dune and matte white but not in all sizes, therefore the set can't match. Which would bug me! I think your new white Dutch oven looks so fresh and bright in your kitchen! You keep enjoying your day to day! Blogs are very patient! Lovely to see flowers! My daffodils are finally just about to bloom!

It is by Cuisinart is enamelled cast iron. I bought 3 pieces...an oval roaster, a small and a large Dutch oven.
They were purchased at our local Marshalls' store which I understand is affiliated with TJ Maxx, Winners and Homesense.

I loved working in the library and can understand how rewarding it would be for you to go back as a volunteer sharing your expertise and knowledge. Retirement does offer an amazing sense of freedom...although with aging parents there are family responsibilities too which can be overwhelming at times. I'm not speaking about Mother as she is doing fine right now but we muct face the facts that at any moment we could be doing the lion's share of care giving. I've seen it with some friends and former colleagues.

That lime Dutch oven was badly burnt and the interior was pitted...the lid was chipped from stacking other pots on top and it made me feel sad that I had no knowledge of how to take care of these beautiful enamelled pots...I learned a very expensive lesson and I will Baby the new Cuisinarts...I am the new owner of three lovely prisitine pots! I bought those stacking stars too so no more chips to the rims...and I will not plunge hot pots into the water either...
Hooray for those daffs...some Spring sunshine must have stopped by your Ohio garden...BTW...would you consider doing a garden post Stephen? Hugs to Barbie.

I used to love those white Wednesday's. Always so soothing. Just like eye candy to relax me in the middle of the week. I needed this. Thank you. Loving your new white pots. So fresh and pretty. xo

Beautiful photos. I hope the lead up to Paris, in these circumstances, is not too stressful.

White Wednesday is a lovely idea. Soothing immediately comes to mind and your post was perfect. I needed to be reminded that we can hope for the best during trying times or illness, but cannot control the end.

So excited and happy that your Paris trip is soon. It has been fun watching the plans unfold. Keep your focus.
