Pepper update and some ParisTravel Notes...

Ah I can breathe a sigh of relief as Pepper our beloved cat has turned the corner and is on the road to recovery!
Thank you for your thoughts, prayers and kind comments and emails...they mean a lot to me.

The Paris Planning File is bulging with papers, there are lists of things to see and do, clothes to pack and detailed information and the itinerary for the trip.
Pages of historic sites, museums, restaurants and shops that have been recommended by friends and guide books.
I can hardly wait to be sitting in a cafe,
sipping a beverage looking out onto the boulevard watching Parisians go by.

I've got to keep my carry on and my personal accessory to a 26 pound maximum so I'll be packing light and weighing everything before I go to the airport. I do not want a last minute unpacking and repacking fiasco.

I read this awhile back and am skim reading it again just to familiarize myself with some of the highlights.
This week I have hair, manicure and pedicure appointments booked and several bon voyage dinners out!
I've let my hair grow out a bit and am hoping my stylist can shape it into a shortish bob.

I've purchased an adaptor for the French plugs so my Iphone. IPad, and Canon camera battery pack can recharge.
We found an instant charger which was reasonably priced and can be used in a pinch.

Euro's have been ordered at the bank.
Small travel sizes of toiletries and skin care products are set aside ready to pack.
The carry on is sitting on the guest room bed empty just waiting for the contents.
I figured out how to set the lock on the case...
A You Tube tutorial helped!

I'll be writing in a travel journal each day so that I can remember the details when I get home and I will be able to refer to it years later. I did the same when Mr. HB and I went to Pasadena and LA...
I also recorded the details of our San Francisco trip...
(Mr. HB is in charge of writing up the days activities in the log book aboard our boat.)

A dear friend gave me this cheery red journal to record the details of my trip.
It is specifically designed for travel notes...
it even has a section at the back to record expenditures!

I'll be taking 14 basic items.

Vera Moda black and white striped dress
black skirt
 Eileen Fisher black pants
Gap Breton striped long sleeved top
Eileen Fisher black linen long sleeved top
 Wooden Ships black sweater
 Barbour black quilted vest
Lands' End cream and black tank tops
Uniqlo cream silk blouse
cream mesh pullover
Talbots black and white striped cotton cardigan style jacket
Banana Republic jeans
Style and Co. light weight black jacket

silk robe and nightgown
underwear, hose, socks
beret, various scarves
jewelry
short boots
walking shoes
umbrella

I'll be wearing my watch and pearls.
The small silk twill square is an easy accent piece.

I've been glued to the Weather Channel and the weather has been HOT in Paris!

Oh and the adventure is about to begin...
pinch me and tell me I am not dreaming!

You are not dreaming! I'm so excited for you!!!
Do you know where that little red journal came from? I think I need one of those as well!

Oh so excited for you! We are going back in September. Was just looking at apartments online! Sounds very organized!

Can hardly wait to hear about your trip. It looks as though you've chosen wisely for your travel wardrobe. Black is always good in Paris...

You are so organized! Too bad our schedules don't quite work for a Paris meet-up -- have a wonderful, wonderful trip! (do you have an adaptor to allow you to upload your Canon photos to your iPad? I've found mine really useful over the past couple of years)

Your wardrobe looks versatile and stylish. You will not doubt shop in Paris so you need extra space in your carry-on. The coming week will be a busy one. So glad Pepper's better. Have fun!

So relieved about Pepper. You can tick that off your list. I'm envious and know you will enjoy every minute. Your wardrobe looks perfect.

If you are like me, you will be busy until the moment you board the plane. Then you can sit back and truly think of the wonderful days ahead.

I didn't expect to hear it is hot in Paris! The black and cream tank tops may become essential.

The red journal was a gift from Tina! Maybe you can message her...I know she shops at Bolen Books...that would be my first guess!

If I were going with a friend or with my husband I would definitely stay in an apartment...they are such great value and you have all the amenities.

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

I have a lot of black and I didn't want to go out and buy anything just for the trip...although the dress is new!

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

I wished our schedules had meshed too...you'll have fun with your sister.
No I do not have an adaptor for my camera to the IPad...perhaps I need one.

I will shop in Paris! The carry on has a zipper to expand its size and I may check it on my trip home if it is too full!

It was 84 degrees last week in Paris! I'm packing layers so I am ready for cool or warm and even hot weather.

Have a wonderful trip. I'm eight days back at home in Australia after a three week trip to the US for work with an extension to Seattle and Vancouver and Victoria for pleasure. I chose Victoria having read your blog and wanting to experience the glory of spring blossom and flowering bulbs. Loved my time in Victoria, particularly a lovely sunny day when I walked from my hotel downtown to past Beacon Hill park, Dallas Road, to the Abkhazi gardens and then on to the Oak Bay area. Such beautiful gardens and houses and residents along the way - and all ideas I got from your blog. So I'm sure all your research will bear fruit and you will have a wonderful time. Amelia

you might have a camera that is Wifi-enabled, but mine isn't, and I like being able to upload and store the photos on my iPad (and then I can blog or Instagram or whatever from there if I want). My husband bought it when he bought my iPad Mini -- about $20, just a short (3-inch) cable with a plug that slides into iPad at one end and a receptacle for a camera memory card at the other.

Excellent news that Pepper is on the mend! Have a fabulous trip!

Have a great trip: You will find that you really didn't need all the clothes you are packing. No one cares how you are dressed. For 2 weeks: I bring 2 pair of pants, 2 sweaters and 5 tops, underwear, etc. Where did you find the compression socks? Were they expensive?

Stay safe, and have a fabulous time in Paris and visiting friends. Looking forward to seeing your pictures and hearing all about it. So glad to hear that Pepper is better...now you can really concentrate on your trip ;) Have fun!!

Glad Pepper is on the mend so you can relax and enjoy Paris. Your outfits sound just right and have given me ideas for my 6 day trip to the Loire Valley in June and the Cotswolds here in England in September. Looking forward to hearing of your Parisian adventures. Bon voyage.

I am surprised you are getting euros from your bank. For many years now we have always travelled with a 'travel money card' which , in Australia, we can get from a bank, the post office, or a foreign exchange company. They are simple to use anywhere in the world and there are no charges or surprise exchange rates. I would expect them to be available in Canada too.

Enjoy your trip with the Ooh LA LA ladies. I was on last year's trip and loved it. I came home a francophile and thoroughly enjoy embracing many French lifestyle do's to make home and life better. The trip was a feast for all senses.

I'm so relieved to hear about Pepper!! I have a small apple plugin that I just slip my camera card into and it downloads all photos to my iPad. It's great!!

Have fun!, are you going on your own? I want to go to New York , but don't have anyone who wants to come , so I am thinking of travelling solo but I am a bit apprehensive in case anything goes wrong

I love that Talbots cardigan. (I love stripes!). Did you buy it there recently? I need to make a trip to that store if so!

Bon Voyage!
I find Weather Wunderground invaluable in planning my trips. Not sure which day you're leaving, but it looks like showers are expected next week.

Your wardrobe looks so appropriate and versatile. You will feel well dressed for sure...even if no one else cares how you are dressed. I'm glad your cat is better so you don't have to worry about him while you are gone. Have a wonderful time...cannot wait to hear all about it!

Hi Amelia,
Oh how lovely that you explored our city and wandered through our neighbourhood.
If I had known you were in town we coud have met up for a drink.

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

I don't think Paris will disappoint me...so much history and culture with many museums, churches and shops...and the French bistros!

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

Oh we are so relieved that Pepper is well...I could not even think about leaving while she was sick...now I can focus on packing!

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

I've been advised that I will might be packing too much...
I figured for the 3 weeks I'd need 2 pairs of pants, two sweaters, 2 tanks, two long sleeved tops and a skirt and a dress would cover all the bases.
perhaps I'll whittle it a bit more before I leave...the compression socks were at the local Pharmasave on Oak Bay Avenue.

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

I'm flying by myself but have several friends in Paris and then there will be the ladies on the tour and friends in the south so I won't be lonely! I am optimistic so am not overly concerned...and if anything does go awry I'll have to deal with it the best way I can.

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

The Talbots striped jacket tee is a thrift shop find...

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

Oh that card sounds like a great idea..don't think that we have that option here at all....we have "plastic bills" our new currency and it is made in Australia!

So very happy for you. Bon voyage!
