I take pictures randomly to post on the blog and Instagram and look at scenes with an eye for a possible photo op...
When I look around I see so many things worthy of recording, so many things of beauty.
I am aware that when I am behind the camera lens that I might not be totally "present" in any given situation.
So I am careful not to let this habit prevent me from fully engaging in the "moment."
Having said that...
I have many images on my camera roll.
An early morning visitor.
If you look closely you can see two grey haired gals in this photo and we are both wearing glasses!

Mosaic tiled pool at The Vancouver Art Gallery...such a lovely shade of cobalt blue.
We did a lot of walking on our recent visit to Vancouver.
One of the most picturesque walks was False Creek to The Olympic Village and around the Science Centre and over The Granville Street Bridge and back to False Creek.

This young child was having a wonderful time sliding down the bird's' tail feathers.
The utilitarian manhole covers were intricately detailed...
they are really quite beautiful.
All this walking gave us an appetite.
We lined up early for the first seating of dinner at the iconic Vij's.
Vikram Vij's Indian Fusion restaurant is located in the South Granville neighbourhood.
It is very popular and is always packed with eager diners.
The food is amazing!
It was a lovely evening and you can see the line up along the sidewalk.
Rangoli is next to Vij's and serves up the same delicious Indian fusion cuisine and they offer take away if you don't want to stand in line.
I did not take any pictures of the food as it was too dark.
The flowers in the ladies washroom were artfully arranged.
The next morning we met our friends for a tasty brunch at Abigail's Party in Kits.
We arrived early and put our name on the list for a table.
This spot is popular and there was a line up...
I opted for the Californian...
Dungeness crab cakes topped with avocado with poached eggs on top.
They were yummy...
we had a great holiday in Vancouver and although there was a lot of walking there was even more eating!
I hopped on the scale this morning and this is how I felt!
It's time to start counting my points again!
I went on a 10K walk this morning and ate a salad for dinner.

Looks like you're on the same side of the Hotel as we were, but we were on the top floor. I remember all the Sea Gulls too, but you had a cute visitor!! I think he's trying to tell you and Mr. HB something ;) Such a cutie!! Looks like you had a lovely little get away.

I enjoy using my iPhone for photos too. In fact, I've gotten quite lazy and rarely take out my camera any more. How are you finding using Instagram? I have an account, but haven't yet posted anything on it.

Great captures!! I adore the ability to grab quick shots with my Iphone and that's why I share so much on Instagram. You so right about needing to be careful to remain in the moment and not get lost in the capture. I need to remind myself frequently, I'm living this life, not documenting it.

I do know what you mean about not being fully present when out and about with a camera.It sometimes makes me anxious that I'm not taking as many pics as I could be, then I take loads of the same thing just in case one doesn't come out well! Mad!
As you say though, just look at those pictures, splenid!

Vancouver is such an interesting city. Love the public art. I try to be careful about being present when I'm out walking, too. Sometimes, the camera lens lets me see things in new ways.

I think the IPhone camera is better than my older camera and it is so convenient.
I really like Instagram...it is a great way to share images and it is fast. It might replace blogging at some point in time.
I like to have fun...a little humour is good for the soul.
I like Instagram more than I thought I would...and I have only recently joined.
Your daily posts help to keep me up to date on what you are doing :-)
Thank you we did have fun...I snap a few shots of the same things at different angles quickly and then delete the ones that I do not like. I am sure professional photographers do the same.

The stylized frogs on the manhole cover are wild. So are the giant celery "trees" in the Bloody Caesars. You would think they would trim them down a bit? lol.
Hostess. Isn't the IPhone the best? I agree I take so many more photos than I ever did. It's wonderful to always have it and honestly sometimes the quality is better than my regular camera. I love those bird statues!! Also the manholes! So pretty. The trip looks wonderful! x Kim
