The Power of Suggestion...lovely daughter my favourite fashion advisor.

Our daughter has a great sense of fashion and when she lived here at home in our Humble Bungalow I would ask for her opinions on what to wear and what NOT to wear.
I miss having her around and not just for that reason...
daughters are lovely!

We were out and about browsing the shops and she looked so well put together... a mix of vintage and new.
Frye boots, skinny jeans and her super soft black leather "moto style" jacket.
I mentioned how great she looked when she commented that she was surprised that I didn't own a leather jacket...

I thought about it for a second and then I said something about my lifestyle change from working woman to retiree and living on a pension...

Dream Catcher made by lovely daughter in my favourite colour ~ green.

I did some thinking...
I dreamt that I might find myself in Paris next Spring
I'd be wearing a buttery soft leather jacket...

Simple luxuries need not cost the earth...
Mother and I looked at W and J Wilsons and their leather jackets were in excess of $800.
The sumptuous one I spied at Eileen Fisher was over $1200.00
Much more than what I was comfortable spending...

Creamy and buttery soft...

I found this lovely Banana Republic jacket in the WIN Thrift Shop.

My cozy cashmere pashmina will keep my neck warm when I wear this jacket.

They look good together.

love the zipper details...

Darling J...
you are one fantastic fashion advisor
and you have made me so very proud and happy to have you in my life
for so many many reasons
I'm very grateful...
thank you.

Hugs
XO

You and your 'new to you' leather jacket will look fabulous in Paris! I envy your trip and I just visited in May! Daughters are one of life's many blessings and I could feel the love you have for your daughter at the end of your post! Happy weekend!

I rely on my daughter too. I email her pictures--and often she responds "blech." So lucky to have them.

You look super!
So glad that you went for the cream colour, everyone has black: be different!
Aren't Daughters just wonderful, I feel exactly the same as you now that my Daughter has left home, I do miss her but they do have to spread their wings.
It touched me so much , what you said about your Daughter and what talent, a lovely dream catcher,.
Green is your colour? So that's why you have those beautiful green Le Creuset pans!

That is a fabulous jacket for/on you! Suits your style much more than would a black moto, I think, more refined . . .
Daughters are pretty marvelous alright (I'm also keen on sons, daughters-in-law, and sons-in-law! ;-)

That jacket looks amazing on you (and that's a terrific of picture of you too), love the cream colour as opposed to the standard black which can be harsh in a leather.
Your daughter does sound wonderful and your love for her shines through this post!

The leather jacket is just fabulous on you, and such a great picture as well. My daughter is often my fashion advisor as well, and luckily close by. However, we're both more focused on my granddaughter's wardrobe at the moment! Is 16 months too young for a moto jacket?

Not too young IMO! Kids clothes are way more fashionable than when my two were young....happy shopping Grandma!

Everyone looks good in a leather jacket. And thrift-stores make them affordable to those of us with limited funds. Nice choice!

I agree with shybiker ; motorcycle jackets are fab. The original Schott Perfecto is still being made in the USA. They look great on everyone, and they also have women's versions.

Leslie, you look wonderful. Perfect with the pashmina. I love a good biker jacket - I think there's little else that punches up a midlife wardrobe quite so well. Nice work daughter, in oh so many ways:).

Such clever thrifting - no wonder you look pleased! Like you I am often dressed by my daughters, sharing or inheriting clothes. (The Duchess lives a busy life in London so Wee One and I do rather well on hand-me-downs!)

So glad you got that jacket! I think it looks wonderful on you and I can't wait to see you wearing it in Paris my dear! I hope you go to the H Mothership and buy a lovely scarf to wear with it. Thanks for giving me a boost on a dreary Monday morning. XO, Jill
