Gearing Up for Fall....OOTD

The temperature has taken a bit of a dip and the leaves on the trees are starting to turn
which gets me in the mood to switch up my wardrobe.
Time to take the cashmere sweaters out of storage and put the sleeveless tops and summer dresses away.

Club Monaco jeans
Franco Sarto sandals
Tribal ribbon top

I'm stretching out the last of the summer wearing white after Labour Day!
It does feel a tad chilly here in our Humble Bungalow and I am thinking of putting on the heat.
It's definitely sweater and vest weather this morning...
but I am bucking the tide...
latent rebel that I am!

I made a comforting rotini casserole...
I love pasta for the ultimate in comfort food.
Watch out for the WW high point count though...
portion control is achieved by serving a big salad with this meal.
I can never eat with gay abandon and not expect that the scale will tell me the truth...
if only it could, I would eat fries and chips until "kingdom come!"

Eddie Bauer Down vest
Roots Tribe Pocketbook bag

A few weeks ago I bought the Roots Vicky Tote bag and decided it was too big so I returned it.
I love Roots as they make their bags in Canada and they stand behind their products.
I have several Roots bags and they last forever.
Years of use have meant that a few repairs were required which Roots is happy to perform.
They send the bag back to their leather factory, fix anything and it is usually done for free.

But I digress...
The Vicky tote went back and the new one is The Pocketbook from their Tribe line...
smaller and more compact but offers lots of compartments and is much more in the scale and style that I prefer.
In a classic neutral shade which is a bit of a departure from my usual black bags.

The front flap is a great place for keys
inside there is a cellphone pouch
 a zippered compartment
where I put my lipstick, nail file, hand cream and gum.

On the back there is a small zippered spot which is handy...
might be a good spot for parking meter coins.

I love a company that offers stylish products, great customer service and their leather bags just get better with age.

What companies do you regularly buy from?
Are you happy with their merchandise and does their customer service and return policies live up to your expectations?

Fall is just around the corner and Jennifer L. Scott, author of The Madame Chic books and writer of The Daily Connoisseur is switching up her wardrobe and I love her style.
Check out what she has to say here.

Hope you have a fabulous week and I will be back soon.

You look lovely Hostess and apparently all this healthy living has you throwing the ageing process in reverse. You look 10 years younger than your profile pic so keep it up. That Eddie Bauer vest looks great although I had some quality issues with their clothing about 15 years ago and moved on so please let me know if they got their house back in order re quality.

btw those CM jeans look fab so just call them 'winter white' and keep wearing them!

Actually they are more of a winter white if truth be told. How astute of you to notice....
My hair does look less grey in this selfie....

the pocket book looks to be the perfect size. I can not get over the size of most handbags...they are huge. I love MZ Wallace but even they have joined the trend of bigger is better. You look lovely.

Your new handbag is lovely. I've never seen Roots handbags in Dallas. (We do have La Canadienne boots however.) I have gotten good wear out of several of my Cole Haan handbags. They are not priced in the stratosphere (I've never owned a sky high priced bag) and they generally hold up well--especially if they are made from pebbled leather.

I find a lot of bags too heavy for walking. There is a tendency to overfill and my shoulder gets sore.Your selfie is lovely. That green suits you and your complexion looks creamy. The WW points are so important and we were just talking at the last meeting about how being aware of food values needed to be part of life forever.

It is a sensible size and I am not tempted to fill it with too much stuff.
I need to explore that brand of bags...it is a company that I have not heard before now.

My daughter has several pairs of La Canadienne boots and we wear the same size...maybe she will tire of them and pass them on to me! Oh and she also has a Cole Haan pebbled leather grey bag...

I agree with you about the tendency to over fill a large bag and then the sore shoulders become problematic...I have heard that many women end up in physiotherapy as a result.
Maintenance on WW is a challenge for me too...points are always in the back of my mind, that's why I love the Power Foods so much. Sheila, a blogger of Ephemera and a WW leader put me onto the value of eating this way. If you don't know her blog pop over and meet her...she is a lot of fun!

What pretty top and the color looks wonderful on you. Jennifer's post are always informative and charming, much like yours.

I do love that color on you.

lovely picture of you. Good for you for sticking with the WW program. I have to do something soon, as these 15 pounds are not coming off by themselves! And thanks for telling me about Roots. I will check them out.

I'm crazy about that color on you. It's a hard color to wear, but when it works, it's magical. You should look for a sweater in that color - it's just great. Maintenance is so hard, gets tiring to think about it ALL the time (which I do).

Hi Hostess, it looks like you lost some more weight, congratulations! The picture with the white pants show slim thighs and no tummy at all. Wow! I'm impressed!

Are there foods that are absolutely no-go's in the WW scheme of things?

Duchesse said...

Wardrobe transition time here, too. That colour is fresh and pretty on you!

@ Anonymous, no food is forbidden, but WW limits us to a max number of points per day and you will blast through a lot of points in nothing flat if veering into the fried-food realm. Still, there is definitely room to enjoy the occasional treat, which is one of the great things about that program.

That green is so pretty on you! Like you I am wearing the white jeans with sweaters and other things. Loving that vest with leather pocketbook, that's such a wonderfully classic look esp with white jeans. Learned to love that look in Spain, so clean and chic

Isn't Jennifer a vibrant young woman? I just love her wardrobe and lifestyle advice.

Green is my favourite colour and I have a tendency to be drawn to limes when I see them...they are not just "good friends" with a gin and tonic!

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

15 pounds is not too daunting an amount of weight to lose...WW will help if you are serious but you might find that walking everyday for 45 minutes is enough. Good luck.

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

Thanks Kathy!
I wonder if anyone makes a cashmere sweater in that shade...it would be nice for Fall with my white tees, pearls and skinny jeans...and I really should be saving for Paris but hey one sweater is not going to make a big difference is it?

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

No more weight lost...I find my weight fluctuates a bit now that I am on maintenance...when it goes up a few pounds I watch my points much more closely and ramp up the walking a bit more.

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

No foods are forbidden but some have high point values so one does need to pick and choose wisely to stay within the daily range allotted so that you lose and not gain weight.

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

If I feel like fries I'll eat a few off of my husband's plate and have a sensible meal myself...a little goes a long way!

I like the idea of mocha with white and have been wearing my gold hoops with this colour combination...feels Italian or as you mentioned somewhat Spanish.

Love the down vest! I purchased a quilted vest last winter and it came in handy for layering as the weather got colder. I hope to get to the sewing machine and get a new bag made for the fall.

Although it isn't my personal choice, I think it's great that you are buying secondhand! It's a viable way to deal with the pressure of the consumer culture without having to pay much of a price for satisfying your own need to keep up! There are so many books/advice with junk in them to get you to spend spend spend without you realizing it!

Anonymous said...

Thanks, but for example, (I know that this is individual and goal based) how many points are you allowed to eat a day in order to lose weight initially, during, and finally in the process?

No Sacrifice Bags said...

You look great in green Hostess! As for Roots; not all of their bags/products are made in Canada. Now most are made on Asia. This fact, of course doesn't mean there is lack of quality.

Hostess, your skin looks fantastic. I am tempted to use a sparser make up regime. Scotia Gwen.
