Purr ~ affection, a catty post.

The news on the feline front is that a bond of friendship is being forged.
There are cat chases around the house when the rugs go flying and the cats are a blurry flash.

They regularly eat out of each other's food bowls.
Concerned about this habit I mentioned this to the vet she nodded and smiled and said there's very little you can do about it and she knows because she has two cats herself.

Pepper and Chester having an afternoon nap
(someone disturbed their slumber by taking a photo!)

Chester looking very chic in a feather boa

looking very wild attacking the feather boa

Chester has doubled his weight since arriving here from California
where he was rescued.
He had been malnourished and was a very skinny kitten.

I hope that he will continue to thrive and be as affectionate...
he purrs like a motor boat
and loves to snuggle and cuddle.

Our pets are family
they give us so much love and joy.

I can't imagine The Humble Bungalow
without a pet or pets about...

He's a sweet little fellow.

Speaking of cats...
Have any of you been watching the Real Housewives of Vancouver?
They are the cattiest women I have ever seen.
One woman is mean to the core and doesn't care who she hurts...
they had 2 episodes of the Housewives Tell All and it was a full on cat fight.

I do not know any catty women
have had very few experiences that border on catty
and wonder if I am just lucky.

How about you
have you got some cat tales to share?

I can be catty ... Meow , I watched the first season on my computer , it was quite amazing to see their behaviors. A couple of weeks ago Ronnie was in visiting where I work and as i came across the floor she passed me and I recognized the big flabby lips first and did a second look , sure enough it was her . They must do a lot of make up for the show because OMG she looked terrible in person . Bad skin , big fake lashes that were so obvious , just gross lol . That is my catty story for the day . Speaking of cats i have a lovely elderly calico cat who is 15 , very sweet granny cat she is. Donna

We don't have any pets at all, but I do enjoy your Pepper and Chester posts - they are so sweet and I'm glad that they have grown close.
The Real Housewives of Vancouver is my guilty pleasure - I love to see the clothes, the jewellery, the real estate, and I love to tut-tut at all the cattiness. I can't imagine what I'd do if I were faced with a person like that.
It was interesting to read Donna's comment - I guess it's all an illusion.

Handsome kitties!

I have no catty friends, and if I did I don't recall them, as I would have banished them. Now that does not mean that an occasional catty remark does not cross the lips...

Hooray, Pepper returns! She and Chester sound like such fun. I've two cats, two dogs, and two teens...and a fish from last year's prom decorations. Animal House. I can't watch those Housewives shows, for the women drive me crazy. Too much like my old work environment, but with flashy clothes, plastic surgery, and commercial breaks. I don't manage drama well....

Kitty love is one of the best kinds. :-)

Oh my goodness, what a sweetheart Chester is! Such wonderful colouring. I love seeing pictures of your furry fam. I adore my Vizzini (and miss my old kitty, Inigo), but he is a handful - I posted a couple of pictures of him yesterday (including a photo-bomb).

Enjoy this gorgeous weather!

Wonderful that they get along so well...that doesn't always happen but when it does it is great! They are both so cute and look rather like siblings.

Miss Twiggley is doing well, she is almost 5 months old now. still extremely playful and very, very social ~ she sends her meows.

I think you are lucky...or perhaps you have a good sense of discernment that keeps you out of the path of cattiness!

You precious little kits are adorable.

Yippee!!! Pepper is back! Pepper and Chester make me smile...thanks! Now, let's hope the two of them don't attack 'the glove.'

Your cats are so precious and I love the photo of the two of them relaxing together on the bed. My cats tolerate each other but no love affair there. Oddly, my older cat and my dog have the closer relationship in this bunch. C'est la vie.

As far as catty women, none in my life. I didn't even know that there was a Housewives of Vancouver t.v show. When my kids were little we spent a few months in Vancouver and people were so polite, kind and down to earth so the idea of a Housewives show based there is hard to imagine.

My kitty, Sox, turned up as a stray and rewarded us with five babies in a few weeks. After the kittens were weaned I brought her inside to join my two Golden Retrievers. It has been happy marriage, but oddly enough, Sox already rules the roost. She's the most confidant cat I've ever seen! By the way, we have kept all five kittens and they live happily in our barn (yes, we got all them "fixed," so no more kittens are in our future.

Chester is a wee little thing isn't he Hostess, or does he still have a lot of growing to do?
I agree pets are very precious and become cherished family members.

It is wonderful when pets bond with each other. The two Airedales we have now tolerate each other but never bonded.
Your kitties are so sweet. That picture with the boa is just too cute!

Years ago I worked with a woman who was constantly catty and bitter. If she could put someone down, she would. I hated being around her, and was not at all sorry to transfer to another town. She reckoned that she'd had a bad deal in life, and not been able to fulfil her potential - she was married to a nice man, two kids, nice house, no money worries - just thwarted social ambition. The resentment ate her up. Literally. Now,years after her death, I feel sorry for her. There was absolutely no need for her to have been the way she was.

Love your Pepper and Chester posts - they are both such gorgeous cats and great that they are getting along as fur siblings now.... As regards Catty women yes I have come across the odd one or two but I always "disarm" them by being as nice as possible - they are so surprised they normally back down! x

I would have loved to be there to see Ronnie!
You've got me curious about where you work now too Donna.

I watch all the episodes too and have seen some of them twice...

For some peculiar reason I am drawn to this show...possibly for the sheer shock value and definitely for the views of Vancouver.

Chester attacks anything and everything right now. The "glove" so far has been spared!

I was told that this Vancouver version is the meanest bunch of women yet. One does wonder if it is scripted because they are so rude to each other. I cannot imagine any of my friends acting this way.

Sanda, you own my favourite breed of dog and I think those 5 kittens and their mother must be very lucky that they found a home in your barn.

Fiona how wonderful to have you stop by. I have really missed "hearing your voice" since you retired from blogging. You must be settled into your new home by now and I do hope that you are enjoying yourself.

Chester is just shy of 5 months so he does have a few months before he is full grown.

I've met one nasty catty woman at work and blogged about her behaviour and rudeness last year. I give her a wide berth and do not participate in gossip or derogatory remarks. Like you I aim to take the high road and maintain a polite manner.

Adorable! Is it not strange we call someone "catty" as a negative? Perhaps we can change the meaning... for is not to be catty to be snuggly, bumping against others with affection, purring with gratitude?
