slowly fading light comes early into the nights.
Fall is closing in on summer's heels...
which leaves me with a sense of sadness
longing for more sunny days ahead and time to kick back and relax.
It's bittersweet...
pretty soon we'll be deep in winter's embrace and slumbering soundly.
We'll be putting the Humble Bungalow Garden to bed for another season over the next few weeks...

I took my camera on a walkabout in The Humble Bungalow Garden.
I've had my nose firmly planted in this book and am enjoying it very much.
Too much as my cuisine has taken a back seat to the book!
It's been a few days of a free range organic chicken
cooked and served in different ways...
Chicken Pot Pie
homemade pastry which I whipped up in the food processor.
it was tasty and no complaints were uttered by Mr. HB
so I think I got away with it!
Now I am going to have to come up with something else...
(not chicken!)
I'll close for now and put on my apron and spring into action.

Oh, but you have such mild weather over there. No need to bundle up the summer yet, or feel melancholy.
Even we, way farther north, are still on a happy mood, though sometimes the first snow falls on the ground already in October.

You hav such a pretty garden, I really want to find a company selling Adirondacks in the UK next year, I just love them. How comfy are they? Do they need cushions?
Lovely photographs and your garden looks gorgeous - I have to say that I love Autumn though which is just as well as this year I get 2 (just been through Autumn and Winter in Australia and now back in England for the same!!) I miss 'Fall' in BC - the changing of the leaves and the look of the mountains. Nothing like staying warm and cosy inside. However, I'll keep my fingers crossed that you have an Indian Summer and you can enjoy your garden for a bit longer (lovely pics). We are enjoying a late Summer here 21c,and our farmers are busy with the harvesting,love to see the tractors working late nights with the lights blazing in the fields.

Our summer of hot weather was all too short this year but we may experience a warm September.
The sun is shining this morning and it promises to be another lovely day:-)
Cushions do make these chairs more comfortable! It does depend on how long you sit in them...I have my tea sitting on them as I am usually bobbing about in the garden dead heading the roses and pulling weeds.
These chairs were made by a local craftsman out of local BC cedar, you can go online for designs and have them built. Good luck on your hunt...I am sure they must be available in Scotland.
Your garden is stunningly beautiful and the pictures capture it beautifully. I agree that the ending of summer is a bittersweet time, but I do love the crisp autumn weather. Makes me think of wood fires, apples and golden colors.
Although putting the garden to bed is kind of bittersweet, I always find myself thinking of how I want to improve things...and having the winter months to mull it over is rather fun! Lovely photos as always of your roses, and of Chester. I hope Pepper is well...I miss seeing her, too!
Los Angeles had a late real summer start this year, so I'm guessing we're going to have a very warm Sept/Oct?
Summer is my least favorite season for clothing, so I'm looking forward to wearing some sweaters and boots soon, I hope.

Kitties really know how to take advantage of a spot of sunshine. I enjoy how you remind us to stop and take in the moments: a late summer garden, a sleeping kitten, a good book.
