Do you judge a book by it's cover?

Technically speaking this is a magazine not a book
I did buy it based on the cover...

September 2012 Real Simple $5.99

The tea is steeping
the sun is shining
dinner is planned and I am taking a wee break after a busy day...
it's just me and the cats here in The Humble Bungalow.

Pepper is happy as she got some cuddles and treats

Chester just loves the sunshine
he "helped" me put a load of laundry in the washing machine.

He'll be around to help when it's time to fold it too!

Not too much is happening here but that's OK with me
I don't need or crave drama or excitement.
I like the simple life.

How about you?

Bizarrely I don't, I always look to see if there are at least three articles that I want to read inside before buying. Quiet here too, I am so excited about the dark nights coming in soon we say "drawing in" I cannot wait, I love them, though hubs gets a bit depressed by them, I just see them as cosy.

Nowadays, I seldom buy women´s magazines, as there is nothing editorial in them at all. I might fall for the cover, but seldom even browse through the magazine at home. I´ll pass it on to my daughter. Only the accessories magazines raise some interest ( something to share in my blog ).
I should really quit buying magazines totally, as they are boring.
My life is v e r y simple, in fact almost anything " extra " that happens, will raise my anxiety and make me feel uncomfortable.
Your cats look adorable!

I picked up this one based on the cover also. Don't very often look at magazines, but read this one front to back and found tips that worked for me.

I love posts that include your wonderful cats! I love cats so much and don't have one at the moment as I travel a lot, so I enjoy vicariously being with others kitties.

I have to admit I'm getting tired of the Real Simple magazine, but what I liked about this issue were the myriad ways to serve kale! I love vegetables yet find myself getting into a rut cooking them. Last night, I made the kale with lentils and tahini. Delicious! Even better for lunch, which I'm enjoying along with your blog at this very moment. Oh, if my kitties would help with the laundry. More like create laundry is what my beasties do...

I haven't picked up a copy of Real Simple in at least a year, but this month's issue is tempting. Our Byron "helps" with the laundry by stealing the odd sock that falls on the floor and guarding it.

LOVE Real Simple... Had a subscription years ago and find I pick it up every so often still. In my world, what I am responsible for, I take very seriously for the amount of time I've spent fine tuning the routine. Generally I don't take days off nor do I care to have someone "fill-in" for me. LOL :) have a great day, Hostess!

Lots of those sort of magazines over here, used to buy mags frequently no longer, must say I enjoyed Tatler at the Dr's this afternoon.

You could not get much simpler than my country bumpkin life pure bliss, especially now my log burner is back in use in the evenings.Ida

I love when the cat "helps." Ours likes to sleep on the fresh warm laundry.

I rarely buy those magazines, unless I'm going on a trip or on the ferry or something like that.

Not quite relevant, but I saw a book the other day, while browsing, and thought of you. It is The Hermès Scarf: History & Mystique. Christmas present expensive, it does seem to be much cheaper on Amazon, in the UK, anyway.
I just wondered if you had it - knowing your fondness for Hermès.

I love their recipes! I've made and liked more recipes from RS than from any other magazine. My homemade cookbook is full of their meals.

I will have to check out this issue...it looks good. Both of the cats are looking very elegant, and it sounds like Chester is very playful ~ they really love when you fold clothes!

I think our husbands might get along....does yours enjoy a single malt in front of a roaring fire?

My life has been anything but boring of late...
work has been quite challenging, the cats have such a calming effect on me.

I love a caesar salad made with kale...
I've even made lasagna using kale as a layer!
Enjoy!

You sound like you are very grounded and genuine...
you and I would get on famously!

Ida if I ever get across the pond I would love to meet up with you.

Chester jumps into the dryer every chance he gets...
I have to make sure he is not inside when I turn it on.
He is getting neutered tomorrow and I am quite anxious tonight.

No I do not...
I'll have to go to amazon and explore...
thank you for the heads up!

A simple life is fine by me. For $5.99, you've got a lot of good reads ahead. I enjoy my magazines these days - easier with the boys. Enjoy your quiet time with the kitties and flipping through your magazine. xxx

I do enjoy flicking through a magazine usually fashion or home decorating.
I enjoy a simple life but with a fair smattering of eclectic moments thrown in the mix.

I have been absent from our little blog world lately and find such comfort coming here - reading your words and seeing that cute little Pepper.
I never buy magazines...not sure why but they don't grab me like they used to. Sometimes I will leaf through one at the dentist's office or at the library but rarely will I buy one. But if I did, it would probably be Real Simple or O.
Have a lovely weekend!
