Rebelling in white...OOTD

Do you follow rules?

How about the rule about wearing white after Labour Day?

I am NOT obeying that rule!
The fashion police might ticket me...but really I don't mind.

White NYDJ

Saint James striped Top

Growing out a pixie cut is not for the faint of heart!
Some days I can coax it into a curly state and others it just will not cooperate!
I love the Bumble and Bumble Don't Blow It and also the Aveda Brilliant gel...
they both help immensely.

After washing my hair I use the Bumble and Bumble
 then next day
(when my hair does not get washed)
I use the Aveda gel.

The children are back to school today and summer feels like its about to come to a close.

Climbing Royal Sunset Rose

A fresh flush of flowers are blooming.
I so love this rose for its heady fragrance...
impossible not to pick a few blooms
to bring inside The Humble Bungalow.

September is a hopeful month
one that brings with it possibilities...

I am pondering many options...
 taking a class
Yoga
aqua fit
rejoining WW
trying something new
looking for a volunteer placement
going back to the club for bridge after the summer holidays

Lots of things to pursue and many new books out to read
a knitting project that has been put on the back burner will be revived.

Are you looking for new possibilities this month?
What things are you considering?

Take care
thank you for popping by The Humble Bungalow Blog.

I hope to do Pilates again, and maybe also yoga.
As for white, yes, why not--especially jeans. It's all about the fabric. I love the idea of winter white outfits--a chunky white or beige sweater with white jeans. WHY NOT! I don't consider the "rules," especially since in France Labor Day is May 1. I do, however, consider the risk of spilling, say, tomato sauce on my white outfit.

Hi Hostess! Call me a rebel but I wear white year round. Love white jeans with boots and cashmere sweaters during colder months. Yes, September always feels like a fresh start. I am thinking about piano lessons and learning to knit (always love hearing about your knitting projects). As much as I hate to see summer go, I am looking forward to leaf peeping, sweater weather, pumpkins, and hunkering down in front of the fireplace with a thick book.

Hostess, I don't wear white at all (too uneasy about spills) but if I did, I'd be wearing white now, without worrying about What People Might Think.
As for this season of new beginnings, I am impelled to catch up with all my people, especially those I haven't been in touch with for a while. It's too easy to get caught up in the daily grind and neglect these dear ones. This cannot be allowed to happen.

Hi,
I wear white 12 months of the year. I love white jeans in the winter. There are no fashion rules that make any sense.

Your hair looks lovely. You must be so happy with it. I love your striped top. Perfect with white jeans for September. Lots of options for projects makes retirement a breeze. Keeping interested in many things makes me so happy and it’s fun to wake up in the morning.

I really like your hair. I use the same products and I try not to handle my curls too much. I only use a comb when I'm styling wet hair. White is great all year and I recently taught Daughter, my shopping buddy, about winter white. We're off to Paris tomorrow. I wonder if there's a St. James store. I'll take photos for the blog because I'm interested in how Paris women handle seasonal transitions.

Your top is lovely. It looks like it would be a pleasure to wear.

September's delightful reset returns me to past enjoyments: book club, line dancing, seniors luncheons and social events, local adventures.

One author new to me is M. Morgan Warren, an artist, whose studio is an A-frame at Canoe Cove Marina, North Saanich, B.C. I am currently feasting eyes and heart on her lovely book, Through Their Eyes and Mine.

She will be launching another work, Nature on the Threshold, on November 25 in Victoria. I would love to attend this book launch (I have never attended one) but, alas, I am half a continent away. Interestingly, I purchased her book in a little shop in Wales in June. Imagine my surprise to discover that it came from Canada!

Each season brings its treasures.

I wore white jeans, white tee and camel cardigan to dinner last night. I use my white jeans year round - love yours and the tee. Your hair is growing out really nicely. I love it a bit longer.

Your hair looks adorable. I need to try Bumble and Bumble, I know that they make great products. Thank you.

Still being in the 85-90 degree range, I'm dressing as though it is Summer. I'm with you! Love your hair style. Very soft and pretty framing your face beautifully. Growing hair out from a pixie is not easy and the temptation to cut is always there. You'r length is outstanding.

I especially like swimming. Low impact but good exercise. Yoga and meditation is also a favorite. I'm still gardening and this is always enjoyable. Your garden has to be a great source of enjoyment. It is truly inspirational. Thank you for the great photos. Susan

Your curly hair looks great casually styled. September is a month for new beginnings - I've begun a new year at school, but I hope for some new things in my personal life, too. Perhaps some sewing projects, and I have an embroidery kit that has languished for quite some time and would be nice to get to.
September roses are such lovely things, appreciated all the more for knowing that they will soon be dormant.

I'd wear white jeans with a nice, chunky sweater - but my only pair are capris which I am now putting away until next Summer - but I will keep my eyes open for more heavy weight long ones.
I start back to my volunteer group next week - I work as an English language facilitator at our church each week. We offer a couple of hours for English students, new arrivals, and even tourists to stop by, have a cup of coffee and practise their English.
I am also looking for some part-time work - partly for financial reasons and partly because I'm a bit bored after nearly 2 years of early retirement.
I am also thinking of going back to University to complete an honours BA - got to schedule a meeting with an advisor to see what my next step should be.
I love the Fall - to me this is the real "New Year".
Did I mention "Weight of Ink" - an excellent book and even though it is around 500 pages the time reading it just flew bye. Also read "Bellevue Square" for my bookclub - we all loved it even though it is a rather odd book.

Winter white has always been a favourite of mine...I once owned a soft cashmere blend winter white coat and loved it...such an elegant shade.
I wear an apron when cooking so as to save my clothes as I am a very messy (sloppy) cook!
Enjoy the pilates and yoga classes...summer must be drawing to a close on France as it is here in Canada.

Ah hooray another rebel!
Piano lessons sound like fun and as a knitter myself, I think that hobby (skill) is one definitely worth cultivating...it is such a meditative practise...and so many wonderful things can be knitted...baby clothes, scarves and sweaters...I also made a huge chunky knit blanket out of cotton which is super cozy.
Hope you find a great book to read...

Enjoy reconnecting with your friends and family...we need to remember these important people in our lives.

Who makes up fashion rules? I usuallu put away my linen dresses and tops at the end of summer but the jeans stay in the closet!

My hair is getting to a better length and I am not sure how long I will grow it...I am thinking that it will stay at my shoulders? After it gets longer I will return to my hair stylist and she can tidy it up.

Safe journey to you Madame...I look forward to your blog posts from Paris!
There must be a Saint James shop in Paris...or at the very least the Bon Marche or the BHV of Galleries Lafayette will have a section of Saint James...happy sight seeing and shopping!

That books sounds interesting...I must do some research on M.Morgan Warren...
the area wher she has her studio is quite close to where we keep our boat!
Te colours are slowly changing here and the temperatures are dipping a bit...
I am wearing my white jeans today with a Ralph Lauren denim shirt, chunky grey pearl necklace and my silver slip on shoes!

Weddings are such fun events...I always cry though...but I have decided that they are tears of joy!
Hope that you have fun on your trips...

I am so happy that the frozen shoulders have eased...I have almost 100% mobility in the left one now so it is much easier weilding a blow dryer which I will use in the cooler months of Fall and Winter...
I am imagining how lovely your white jeans and camel cardigan looked with your complexion and hair colour....hope dinner was tasty!

Your curly hair would do well with either of these products...Sephora have small travel sizes of Bumble and Bumble products so you can "test drive" them easily...
I love the scent of the Aveda Brilliant gel...and it delivers moisture and shine while it defines the curl.

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

Susan the hair growing process has been made much easier with the two products that I mentioned in the post...I have not once been tempted to have it cut short. I only had it short because of the excruciating pain of the frozen shoulder...and then the second shoulder froze so I kept it short out of necessity...thankfully they have thawed and I have almost 100% mobilty again.
Enjoy the last weeks of summer in your garden!

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

The shorter days and the fading gardens do help us find an opportunity to cocoon indoors and work on those projects that we tucked away...I plan to pick up my knitting and finish off the scarf that I started last spring.
Hope your school year is off to a fabulous start!

You have a lot of wonderful ideas to keep things percolating along...I like the sounds of that volunteer job.
There is a severe shortage of retail help here in Victoria and many businesses are closing early or taking days off as a result...it may be our expensive real estate and lack of affordable housing...good luck finding a part time job that you enjoy.

Thank you Ali!
My goodness the summer has just flown by...the garden has kept me busy and I look forward to finding time for a trip to see you sometime this Fall!

Nothing nicer in September than white jeans with a navy cashmere sweater and navy loafers.

Clean and classic look, always appropriate despite the calendar! Yes, growing out hair is so painful it deters me from making radical changes. On the other hand, it is only hair and grows quickly, so I sometimes think I should be more adventuresome. Your hair is such a pretty length and very flattering. And the colour of those roses is breathtaking. Autumn is my favourite season. I don't even mind the rain we are having, after so many months of drought. We need it. And the sound of it on the windows and skylights is so cozy.

I think you are a full closet kind of gal...you embrace colour and life boldly...
have fun in the UK! Hope you enjoy all those fabulous stately homes and gardens.

Blue (navy) and white are a classic combination!

Autumn is a favourite time of year for many...the change of temperature and the beautiful foliage. Its raining again today but that does not dampen our spirits as we are surrounded by bright colours!

Thank you for giving me the idea to wear my white jeans (which are actually too heavy for summer weather) with my grey cashmere sweater and loafers. It's fun to make up new and unexpected combinations from old favorites. Fall looks lovely in your neck of the woods.

I love your hair! I am also growing out my pixie and I find that the beachy salt spray stuff really helps. Sometimes I wear it like you do, sometimes I roll it in hot rollers for a little more glam look. I was thinking of growing it long but I may stop at chin length, who knows? Yours looks great on you! Yes to breaking fashion rules! xo

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

Glad that I have inspired you to wear the white jeans! I swapped my summer wardrobe for the Fall and Winter items this past weekend and wore a cashmere sweater...so cozy for these chilly days.

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

I wonder how long I will grow mine...
I keep looking online at grey hairstyles for over 60 gals and some styles look really elegant...good luck with your hair!
