It's growing beside the sidewalk in the garden of one of our neighbours...
We spend time looking for pops of colour as we walk.
Walking is such a great way to explore our city.
It was one of the highlights from my Paris trip...

Women who walk and explore have been given the term "Flaneuse."
The feminine form of flaneur...
which means
"a man who saunters around observing society."
This book caught my attention when I was at the local library...
I had read Eleanor's first book Weird Sisters
the title sealed the deal!
I am halfway through it and am enjoying it...
I am trying not to rush the chapters so that I can savour the story.

I'm going to put a reserve on that book. Actually, I can do it from Paris. The internet is wonderful that way. I am reading The Dust that Falls from Dreams by Louis de Bernières who wrote Captain Corelli's Mandoline. I've got a small pile of books to read but I might go back to the Hornby Island lady's bookstore by the Luxembourg Gardens. I've been walking so much! I will have to find interesting places to explore when I get home.Enjoy your time with your friend!
Tonight I had dinner with three friends. One of them has just returned from your lovely city. She couldn't say enough about how wonderful it was - the gardens, the people, the shops and restaurants, the walking, etc.

I have recently heard of that mystery writer and hope to read some of his books soon...it sounds like birds factor into each mystery too which is different.
I am not sure about the soil conditions that artichokes need to thrive and grow...these are down the street from our home and look very healthy...they are established and flower every year...the owners harvest them to eat.
I have no immediate plans to travel...how about you Mary? Any trips to France in your future?
I'm reading "The Heart's Invisible Furies" by John Boyne set in Ireland. It's fantastic. There are great artichoke plants down the street from us as well and I love their blooms.
Purple.... we have wisteria flowering on my side of the world .
The artichoke plant is stunning! I'm reading a book by Susie Steiner (can't remember the title and I'm too lazy to get up and look for it). I've caught a bit of a cold and spent the day at home, puttering, cleaning, and feel very mellow.
I must check out that book...the artichoke flowers are quite amazing!
