OOTD....flowers, friends and a fabulous book!

OOTD

Ralph Lauren skinny knit tweedy pants
Black Symplii tunic top
Red Joesph Seibel ballet flats

(vintage carpet)

I like having a few colourful accessories
they elevate the basic black and grey garments that I regularly wear.

Juicy red rose hips...

I have heard that when the hips form early in the season
it means we will have a cold harsh winter...

The sun is shining today and there are blue skies.
Yesterday I helped a new friend move into her new condo.
She is a lovely woman, a recent widow who is relocating from Vancouver to Victoria where she has family.

I admire her in so many ways...
she has left behind many friends but is embracing this move.
Her energy and enthusiasm is contagious!

This past month she has been discovering the amenities that Victoria offers
exploring new groups
cycling club, bridge, yoga, french lessons and a french conversational group.

We have met up for walks and coffee and there will be future lunches
bridge games and perhaps we will go to the theatre.

I also discovered that she is a painter and has sold many paintings...
she is very modest about her work.
She plans to take a class or two this winter and I am considering joining her.

She will be unpacking for the next week or two
fluffing and arranging her furniture and hanging her art in her light filled condo.

This pretty tea cup and saucer was a gift...
I love the gold polka dots.

This book is quite the page turner...
I am almost finished it and can recommend it
it is very intense and so well written.

I will finish it this afternoon while the white Ektorp slipcovers are in the wash!

Hope your week is off to a great start.

I really like those pants. I have been cleaning out drawers and culling old summers clothes. Your friend sounds like she has a lot of courage to move and to begin a lot of new activities. I'm reading Prague Spring by Simon Pawer right now. I don't sleep through the night yet so I get extra reading time.

Both you skin and your hair look quite lovely.

I think I saw that book at the library, now I will definitely look for it.

Pretty ruby shoes, worthy of taking you to the Emerald City! And I really like your glasses.
You remind me I should take advantage of the unseasonably hot weather and endless sunny days to wash my own white Ektorp slipcovers.

What a cheerful post, as you slide into Autumn. Your pretty red flats look extra special on the gorgeous antique carpet. A new friend is a special treat and she does sound lovely and interesting; I hope you continue to enjoy those shared activities.

You look great, love your hair growing out. I've heard that book is fantastic. I want to recommend one to you - Saints for All Occasions by J. Courtney Sullivan - I know you'd love it.
I really admire your friend who moved and is embracing and imagining a new life - it's a very courageous thing to do, and she's lucky to have a friend like you to help her navigate it all.

Hi Hostess! You look well-put together, cheerful, like there is a spring in your step! Love those Ralph Lauren pants- will go searching for them. Your new friend sounds courageous and adventurous- sounds like you two are forming an awesome new friendship. Thanks for the book recommendation. I have had my eye on that one and you just gave me the push to go ahead and read it. Love your book recommendations and your breath-of-fresh air posts!

Don't those rose hips look a gorgeous colour. I thoroughly enjoyed that Kristin Hannah book and always appreciate recommendations. Your hair is looking good as the curl develops.

Dressing for Fall with a pop of color always works well. Beautiful complexion, with soft curls that are face framing and as LPC states grate frames. You are change of seasons ready! I love Fall and the seasons changing. It feels a bit like a fresh start Changing out the wardrobe and closing down the garden in prep for Winter. Love the cycle of the seasons. Susan

Thank you they are designed and made in Paris by a company called Face a Face...

The pants are super comfy too and a tunic top or a longer shirt make it so easy getting dressed! Extra reading time is good...I rarely sleep through the night.
Hope you are enjoying this lovely sunshine!

I went to the hairdresser and she tidied it up a wee bit...will go back in another 2 months and hope that it has grown long enough...its a long process growing out a pixie cut!!

Kristin is an amazing writer...I think I weep at least once when I read her books!

I LOVE red shoes! They just make me feel happy and that pop of colour really elevate the simple basic neutral wardrobe that I wear...I love seeing your snapshots of the villages in France...they really are exceptionally beautiful and so charming.

She's an inspiring woman...and so lovely to be with! We have a lot in common and we laugh together...I look forward to spending more time with her.

It was a page turner right from the start! What a story Kristin has woven...
I use Aveda shampure shampoo and Bumble and Bumble Don't Blow It cream and then Aveda Brilliant cream on the days that I do not wash my hair...curly hair does not do well with too much shampoo so even wetting it down in the shower can refresh the curl...I discovered a new way of treating curly hair through a friend who suggested that I read curly hair blogs.

I am adding that book title to my must read list...thank you!
She has a daughter, SIL and a young grandson here in town so she will be able to see them more often and has already joined in locally with various groups and met up with more people who share the same interests.

The RL pants are by the Chaps line...they are soft and cozy...good for Fall and Winter. I wore them with my lonhger length black cashmere V neck pullover and that made them look a bit more dressy.
Hope you enjoy the book...

I am currently reading The Home for Unwanted Girls by Joanna Goodman and am already "hooked!" You may want to read it too?

Thank you Susan! Hope that all is well with you and yours...
the frames are designed and made in Paris by the Fac a Face company...the garden is still quite full...many many roses are blooming as are the hydrangeas. The sun has been shining most days and so there has been a "spring" in my step! We are fortunate that we actually have "seasons" I read many blogs from afar where the weather is so similar all year long.
Lots of changes ahead in the garden as Fall settles in.

I love your blog. It is definetly one of my top five. I choose to read it often because, unlike so many others, you are not constantly attempting to encourage me to buy some new product (makeup, clothes, accessories etc). Occassionly you will try or buy something new and share your thoughts on it but not daily “commercials.” That’s why your blog stands out above others. Just wanted to thank you. P.S. love your garden pics and your times on the boat.

Thank you Babette,
writing this blog is a fun hobby, an outlet for creative writing and photography. It's not a commercial enterprise or a job like it is for many of the bloggers out there.
I'd love to know the names or links to the other blogs that you enjoy reading.
