Popping in to say Hello...and please enjoy the roses.

November Roses....

Sharing a few roses from The Humble Bungalow Garden...
It's been a crazy busy week with lots happening
unfortunately not all "good things."
We have had a death in my husband's family
a dear friend has been diagnosed with cancer has undergone major surgery.
I have been preoccupied with other "more pressing things" and I have not been able to find much time to sit at my computer.

I'll be brief with this post and share some pictures instead of a lot of text.

McCartney Rose

Jude the Obscure

Jude The Obscure

I picked one to cheer up the bathroom.

I grabbed my brush and acrylic paints the other evening when I was suffering a bout of sadness.
I was thinking of Mom and I played some of my favourite music and let the feelings flow through to the canvas...
I think Jude The Obscure is with me here!
Not a masterpiece
I know, but "I own it"
it felt good to push the paintbrush around on the canvas...
that's probably why they call it Art Therapy!

Cheap and cheerful chrysanthemums
in a simple terra cotta pop dress up our front porch.

Dressing up myself...
in a uniform of sorts
for the recent chilly days.

A long sleeved top
skinny jeans rolled up
Chelsea boots
a puffy vest
my cashmere scarf

Vintage Coach Court bag...

Relaxing and reflecting in a quiet chair...

The Humble Bungalow Garden is getting a face lift in the back area...
this patio area will not be touched but we have big plans and the top stars will be:
 magnolia trees
ferns
camellias
hydrangeas
black mondo grass
and stay tuned for more.

I'm sorry for the loss in your husband's family, L. Those are stressful times. Your roses continue to bring pleasure even in the rain and gloomy weather we've been having. Love the photo of your feet up and a mug in hand.

There are times that are sad and stressful and bring back sad memories. I'm sorry.
Your roses are beautiful inspite the cold weather-I particulary love Jude the Obscure-in all versions
Take care

I love that you're painting again. Your brush strokes are full of energy and confidence, and the limited palette of this painting makes it very strong. Hope you enjoyed making it. My condolences to you family.

So sorry for your loss - and thinking of the friend who is so ill - but using your art to destress and cope is such a wise thing to do (I'd be stress eating). And your flowers are always so gorgeous - thank you for taking the time to post them for us. Hope this next week isn't quite so stressful.

It does seem that you know how to nurture yourself and your loved ones in your grief and stressin, to find solace in the beauty and comfort around you. Take care. . .

It's the first loss of a family member from "our generation" which makes us all think a bit of our own mortality. Taking a tea break can be such a great way to unwind and relax...our sweet grandchildren certainly help cheer us up!
Hope you enjoy the weekend Lorrie.

We all experience loss and sad events in our lives...support from family and friends means so much at times like these.
Jude is a great rose...and there are so many more lovely David Austen roses...if I had a larger garden I would buy and grow many more!

Painting is a relaxing hobby...I am not as disciplined as you though and only paint when the inspiration strikes. Your art work is much more refined and you have an keen trained eye for shadows, light, shape and colour...mine is unruly and wild but it satisfies my urge to be creative.

I had no potato chips in the house so I could not stress eat...I would had they been handy! I am looking forward to a quiet and uneventful weekend to recharge.

Thank you Frances...
I do try to find ways to lessen stress when it strikes...if I had not had a year of emotional turmoil way back in my 40's I don't think that I would be able to cope with many life events...that year taught me so much and as difficult as it was to live through it I appreciate the lessons that I learned and the strategies for coping that I discovered.

Thank you Rosie...roses are incredibly good at lifting ones spirit.
Flowers have a way of cheering us when we feel blah...I purchased an orchid today that was on sale for a really reasonable price and it has been placed in an empty pot in our entry hall...I can see it from my chair in the living room where I sit to read and have my afternoon tea.

Your painting expresses your feelings very well. Deepest sympathy on the loss of your family member. I know you will be a source of support for your dear friend - hope she's doing as well as can be expected and that her prognosis is positive. Thinking of you as you work through grief/loss.

This time of year can be delightful and melancholy at the same time. Just know that it may happen and plan for it, bubble bathes with Andre Bocelli in the back ground are always nice, don't think he makes house calls Though! LOL! Love the painting so much, so much energy and feeling.xx

It is sad to lose a family member. I'm sorry. Your flowers and your nurturing home will support you in these times. My great nephew, who has just turned 7, has been in Children's
with a kidney disorder. There is a lot of uncertainty. Take care and I hope that you continue your painting.

Thank you Jeanine...our dear friend is living in France and he is home recuperating with his lovely wife taking good care of him...we all await the results of the pathology and have our fingers crossed that it will be good news. We hope that they will be able to come for a visit if he gets the OK to travel...

Music can heal as can art...we used to use these two practices with the special needs children at school and it was a powerful tool...

"bubble baths with Andre Bocelli in the background" I like your style Mary Anne!

7 too young to be in hospital, but Children's in Vancouver has a marvellous reputation and the staff are amazing...I hope that your nephew will get the best care and that the physicians can help expedite his treatment. Such a concern for all involved...sending positive thoughts to you and your family.

I have seen Sandra's art and it is amazing...such gorgeous detail and beautiful colours...now she is a true artist. I have really enjoyed her posts with her new Artful Home venture...she is a beauty herself and they are fortunate that she has agreed to be their brand ambassador!
I am sorry to hear about your mom...I know all too well the pain that follows when one loses such a beloved Mother...and it will take time so do try to be gentle on yourself and lean on your friends and family for support.
Take care...my sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy go out to you at this sad time.
XO
