OOTD

Bridge is one of my favourite card games.
It helps keep me on my toes.

I love that it challenges my brain by utilizing those "grey cells."
Scientists keep reminding us to use it or lose it...

Our club hosted a fund raising bridge luncheon last weekend and I got a wee bit dressed up for the event. It puts the fun into fundraising.

Many of the ladies who attend are much older and they take such care to dress in smart outfits, beautiful pearl necklaces, silk scarves and pretty rings.

On a regular weekday bridge game I wear..."casual clothes."
Like this black top and dark denim skinny NYDJ rolled up at the cuff
with short boots.

JCrew tassel necklace with a simple black top adds a little bit of oomph.

Clark boots  NYDJ

For the luncheon and the afternoon I wore...

Amalfi shoes with Nygaard velvet dress pants.

Burberry print scarf
Wilfred top

We had a fun afternoon and raised money for the club.

Our darling grand daughter Isla came over on the weekend.
We had fun "playing school" made some banana bread and walked to the park.
She jumped in the leaves, swung on the swings, slid down the slide, climbed on the monkey bars and rode on the merry go round.
We collected some of the leaves...

Isla picked this "special leaf" for me...

I placed some of the leaves under the white pumpkins on the table
on the front porch of our Humble Bungalow.

As I sit here tying on my lap top  I am wearing a new ring...

Darling daughter who is gifted at finding gems and jewels found an eternity ring in my size and we met up for coffee so that I could try it on...

It fits and was such a great price that I could not resist...

Hope that your week is off to a great start...

I am still into tassel necklaces so I love this J. Crew version. Your granddaughter Isla's hair is such a gorgeous shade of red! My daughter's hair is about that long (she is a dark blonde though). I am crazy for your new eternity ring, hope you will wear some bright red or pink nail polish to draw even more eyes to it! Hooray for diamonds! xx

Jill,
Isla is absolutely gorgeous..and I am VERY biased! She is a sweet girl.

The ring is so unexpected....I am saving for a trip to Provence and when this ring was put on my finger...well let me just say I will try and paint my fingers!

You are wonderful! I love reading your blog because it is SO real. That's difficult for most of us. Sending love....

Thank you Stephen...Isla is our sweetheart. If you could only see all my husbands' cousins red hair when I first met them I think that you would be with me, in awe!

Sweet little Isla has the most beautiful hair, and Autumn must be her season. All those beautiful golden colours and leaves. Your new ring is gorgeous - who could resist? I know you will enjoy wearing it.

What gorgeous red hair! It's fun to have a more dress-up occasion in retirement.

Looking lovely, pLeslie. I love what I can see of your Mads Nygaard trousers and the colours on the scarf look just perfect. And little Isla, well she's simply adorable!

So something I did not know is that my husband saw the ring before I did and I thought that I was buying it and it turns out he was!!!!

She is a darling girl...thank you for noticing!

She is so sweet...when she was pretending to be the teacher MR. HB and I were trying very hard to do good work!
Darling daughter Jennifer and Mr. HB were obviously in cahoots...he saw it first and when I was a wee bit reluctant about spending my France travel funds when I came home and he insisted it was his treat! So I think that is rather sweet too...

I plan to dress up for our season at the theatre this year...it is a local small theatre company but if I don't make the effort I feel that I have let myself down...when Mother and I had our seasons tickets to Langham Court we always dressed up and we attended the matinees.

She is a stunning gal...she turns heads wherever she goes! You should see her mom..."absolutely gorgeous!" and our son is quite handsome too!

Than you Mary Lou,
Conservative and minimal is my theme...possibly predictable and not ground breaking fashion but what feels honest and appropriate...
I would love to add some bright coloured shoes and maybe a rain slicker in a sunny yellow...

What a lovely photo of your granddaughter amongst all the leaves - I am very envious ( have dark brown hair and always wanted to be a redhead with long hair like hers)!
I love the fact that you made the effort to dress up - yesterday I met a friend for a visit to the Art Gallery and I knew e'd also go to lunch so I took the opportunity to wear dress pants & a cashmere sweater - I have so little opportunity these days to wear anything more than casual clothes that it was fun to "dress up" even a wee bit.
PS - Love the ring - and what a lovely surprise that it was a gift!

Our dress styles are very similar so I enjoy your choices. What an adorable granddaughter and a generous husband.

Dottoressa...if you can find a good bridge teacher and learn with a group you might have some ready made partners with whom you can play games after your lessons!
Wearing white is often a difficult shade next to the face...You are fortunate that it flatters you...I love a crisp white shirt with a pearl necklace and some casual pants.

Your outing to the gallery sounds like fun...and dressing up a bit makes the event seem much more luxurious.
The ring was an unexpected surprise and my husband and daughter were sending texts under my radar!

Isla is so sweet...we are very grateful to have our family in the same city.
Mr. HB is a "keeper!"
I saw an older woman today wearing a bright rain slicker with a fabulous scarf and thought that perhaps it is time to add a few pops of colour! Do you have any brights in your wardrobe?

You are lucky to have your family near, we have 2+ hours journey down one of the busiest motorways in Northern England to see our granddaughter. Thank goodness for Skype!
I do have colour, mainly blues and reds as I don't suit the yellow/orange spectrum. I love red in a cold, miserable day. Definitely time to cosy down is sweaters and scarves.

Skype is a great thing to use to keep connected with family all over the world.
Many of my friends keep in touch this way too.
We could use a little bit of colour today as the skies are cloudy and grey and it is raining...I like the idea of a bright red or yellow slicker or boots for this time of year!
