Bye Bye Big MAC...

Good Morning!
I am saying farewell to my old MAC laptop and a sweet hello to my new MAC...

The new one is smaller and much faster...
way faster than the operator at this moment in time.
There is a bit of a learning curve but thankfully with a MAC there is so much familiarity that we can bravely navigate with very little fear.
(I have a very capable young tech just a phone call away which helps too!)

I am going to test drive this new machine by taking you all on my recent walk in Oak Bay.

I walked past one of my favourite gardens in all of Victoria.

If you ever get the chance please visit this magical place...
have lunch or afternoon tea and walk about the grounds
it is a little piece of heaven on earth.

I passed by a quiet lane where this beautiful white wisteria was growing along a cedar fence...
I love wisteria and think it looks so elegant, almost enchanting.

There were 5 deer eating their breakfast in a garden beside the path.
The birds were singing and it was very quiet.
I felt like I was in the country.

I posted a video of one of the deer to my Instagram page and judging by the amount of times it has been viewed it must be worth watching.

I took this "secret path" tucked between two houses.
I am in the area of Oak Bay where I grew up and when we were young "adventurers" we used to pretend that these paths were very secret and known only to the children in the neighbourhood.

I wandered up towards Oak Bay Avenue on a dead end street.
Ah but there is another path that winds itself through the area...
this one is known to many as there has been a booklet published detailing the route...it has been lit for night time use and safety on the rugged rocky steps.

Here is the view from the bottom of the steps...
looking onto a lovely little byway just off the beaten path.

Someone lost a bootie...

The mighty oak has fallen and the municipality knows that the Garry Oak Meadows are better off when the tree trunks are left as they fall...
(they have cut off the limbs that would have blocked the path)

I am hoping that this post will be in the Blogger feed as soon as I hit publish...
if not I need to do some sleuthing to find out what I need to fix.
Please keep your fingers crossed!

Thank you for stoping by...

Good luck with your new MAC - the first post seems to be a success! I've been once to the Abkhazi Gardens and thoroughly enjoyed it. Gardens are looking so lovely just now (which inspires me to get out in mine this weekend to do some work).

Oh...this is all too lovely. I know I have said it before but you live in paradise. So many lovely places to walk and all of them have a special beauty. The white Wisteria...magical.

Good luck with the new computer.

You will love your new MAC. I have a MacBook Air and it is perfect. The gardens are so beautiful! I really like the white wisteria.

The gardens are so enchanting!! You are lucky to live in such a beautiful area of the world - and it is so green and so colourful! Where I am, in the in-land part of Australia, we are still in the grip of drought. The rains when they come are so strong that the water just runs away, nothing seeps into the soil. I do love my technology - with a desktop, an iPhone and an iPad all synced and all hooked up to the TV - information exchange is so easy. I think Apple products are still the easiest to use. I'd love to see more photos of your walks please:)

Oh, what a lovely romantic story, and the white wisteria are the perfect accompaniment. I like the sound of your childhood, exploring secret pathways, and exploring the neighbourhood. We did something similar, but sadly it was reported this week that almost no children are allowed to go out without a parent, and very few now walk to school.

I'm getting a new one in a few weeks and am excited! Does it feel different other than faster though? I'd get an old one but there are limits on updates like you've experienced so Apple keeps sales moving I suppose...

I get annoyed that they plan the obsolescence on so many things..but that's a whole other story. Congratulations on your new Mac, and I enjoyed your stroll.

The post took longer than I expected it to show up in the Blogger feed but at least it posted...have contacted support and will see what they have to say.
Have fun in the garden this weekend it looks like the weather will not be too hot and no rain is forecast so sounds like a perfect time to get some weeding done.

I think you live in a lovely spot too....if memory serves I seem to recall that you live close to Pasadena where the weather is mild and sunny...lots of great gardens and wide boulevards. I'd enjoy a scenic virtual tour of your garden and neighbourhood sometime.

Hi Ewka,
Drought is a big problem in so many places on our planet...water is a valuable resource. We get a lot of rain here and at the moment our reservoir is full but we also have watering restrictions for the gardens and people are encouraged to be mindful of their usage.
I have shown many of my walks here on the blog and will continue to show snippets of the things that I encounter...wildlife and flowers and more...I post on Instagram too if you want daily images...click on the picture on my sidebar that easy follow me on Instagram.

I think we lived in such freedom back when we were young...there were no real fears of abductions or violence...just kids running around having fun outdoors. Skinned knees and bee stings were our problems and moms were at home to help.
It would be so lovely to think that this could be possible today but there is a completely different world that we live in now...it is a shame and I think children have more fear than we ever did. You raised a serious point Patricia...

Yes it is much faster and easy to use. Sleek, small and light.
Hope you like your new one too!

I have to agree about obsolescence but the new improvements in the MacBook Air are definitely growing on me! Now if only other appliances could last longer...like our dishwasher which is making a hideous sound!

The White Wisteria is beautiful.
I had to retire my old Mac, and although I still have the Air, I decided to try the small Macbook in gold; which is more like a bronze.
I don't care for either, and miss my heavy old Mac. Actually I REALLY miss my old white Mac laptop that I could pop a DVD in.

I got a MacBook Air for Christmas and I love it, although I've had some problems with availability of photos to Blogger (they're in my Cloud, but not there when I Choose Photos in Blogger -- seems to be a lag often which may have to do with slow Wifi) -- you've done very well for a first try!

Glad the migration to a new computer was successful. That garden is spectacular. You have so many lovely gardens to visit!

I am keeping my old Mac just because it can play a CD or DVD...that is the only thing I would likely use it for now that I have the Air Book.

Good news to hear that you love your new Mac AirBook...that was a very nice gift!
We have high speed internet so I think my posts should load fairly fast...the photos are different and a bit of a learning curve is involved as with anything new. Hope it is a speedy transition!
