In my previous post I mentioned that my daughter Jennifer and I were going to be putting together a fundraiser to help the people from the town of Fort McMurray...we are ready and the auction is live!
Darling daughter has put together the silent auction post on her Instagram feed @thing _finder
and she is ready to accept bids by private message on these two lovely items. I donated the silk Hermes scarf which is made in Paris and she added the Pyrrha necklace which is made in Vancouver BC.
Fort McMurray is a town in Alberta where a wildfire has been burning for days. 88,000 people have fled, many with just the clothes on their backs and are currently living in camps or have joined family and friends elsewhere. Many homes burnt to the ground as well as buildings in the city.
After watching the news I have not been able to get the images out of my mind...so many people have been affected by the fire and the scale of the destruction is huge. I had just made a donation to The Red Cross and now I felt that I needed to do more to help.
Thank you...

HORRIBLE................fires are HORRIBLE.We had one close by in the early 1990's......many homes burned to the ground, trees, lives lost...............it is DEVASTATING.
ANY NEWS On when the fire will be OUT?
Does 100 percent of the hammer price go to the fire victims?
The fire is still raging and the fire fighters are doing a great job some working with just a few hours of sleep...must be a really tough job.
Absolutely 100% of the money goes to the Red Cross and the best part is that the Canadian government is matching each private donation so it is a Win Win...
I would never ask for bids on a fund raiser and skim some of the money...my daughter and I are personally paying for the shipping and insurance on the parcels so the ALL of the money goes directly to the Red Cross and thank you asking! We have very high morals and are honest to the core.
What a kind thing to do
What a generous thing to do. It's so terrible what has happened. I'm an Alberta girl originally so this one is close to my heart. xo
Thank you!
You and your daughter are very kind souls. Already donated last week to the Red Cross and am thrilled at how people have rallied to help. Canada is a huge country, geographically, but in troubled times we come together like a village. The one positive about this nightmare.
I hope you get loads of bids Leslie! We lived in Alberta for several years, and have family in Lac la Biche. This horrific fire has brought out the best in people; that's for sure.
