it is so difficult
I crave quiet and calm
it has been an emotional few days
I brewed a pot of tea and took a mug outside in the sunshine
and sat in one of the new red chairs
I needed to listen to the birdsong
look at the flowers
soak in all the beauty that I could
to refuel my spirit
soft greens and whites mingle together
the red chairs are comfy
I think they will be one of my favourite spots when I need to take a break in the garden
our Iceberg rose is in bloom
love the purity that white flowers exude
the new pot of geraniums will last all summer
sunshine and water
and a little TLC
a lovely and gracious woman has left us...
she lived a full life
inspired and nurtured a family
great grandmother
she was an important woman in my life
she was gracious
loving
giving
always put her family first
she leaves behind
family
friends
years of memories and events that can be recalled
whenever we choose to do so
She will hold a special place in my heart forever
and I am honoured to have known her
I have wept...
my goodness we are all weeping
we cannot stem the tide...
“Everyone must leave something behind when he dies, my grandfather said. A child or a book or a painting or a house or a wall built or a pair of shoes made. Or a garden planted. Something your hand touched some way so your soul has somewhere to go when you die, and when people look at that tree or that flower you planted, you're there."

Very sorry to see you've had a loss. Glad you have a lovely spot to retreat and catch your breath. I've always thought that's such a lovely quote.
I am so sorry for your loss. It is a difficult time, but your words and thoughts and obvious love for a wonderful woman will bring solace to you and your loved ones. They have for me as we just lost my mother in law, who is very much the same as your dear person. There is a poem that I read at her funeral by John O'Donohue from Connemara, Ireland that I find comforting, called Beannacht, which in Irish means Blessing:
Beannacht
On the day when
The weight deadens
On your shoulders
And you stumble,
May the clay dance
To balance you.
And when your eyes
Freeze behind
The grey window
And the ghost of loss
Gets into you,
May a flock of colours,
Indigo, red, green
And azure blue,
Come to awaken in you
A meadow of delight.
When the canvas frays
In the currach of thought
And a stain of ocean
Blackens beneath you,
May there come across the waters
A path of yellow moonlight
To bring you safely home.
May the nourishment of the earth be yours,
May the clarity of light be yours,
May the fluency of the ocean be yours,
May the protection of the ancestors be yours.
And so may a slow
Wind work these words
Of love around you,
An invisible cloak
To mind your life.
Sit quietly Hostess soak all the beauty in replenish and remember. So sorry.
Nature's first green is gold
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaves a flower
But only so an hour
So leaf subsides to leaf
so Eden sank to grief
So dawn goes down to day
Nothing gold can stay
Robert Frost

So sorry for your loss....beautiful quote.
You will think of your friend often, and there she will always be, in your heart. It's right to be sad and let the tears and memories flow right now. So sad for your loss, but so happy you had this wonderful person in your life.
So sorry to hear you've lost someone close to you. Will be keeping you in my thoughts. xo, Adrienne

Oh I am so sad to read of your loss of a very special person. Your tribute post is beautiful Lesley, and taking time out in the garden is wonderful, good for the soul. The red chairs and geranium look very chic indeed, and very you. Take time, and take care. xx
Who have you lost? I am so sorry!
My Sincere Sympathy for your loss Leslie. The worst part of getting older to me, is having so many people I know, and love die. People say that time heals; but
I really don't find that to be true. I love the people that have passed from my life, as much as I loved them the day they died. I will never love them less.
My sympathies, Leslie.
Leslie, So sorry. Thinking of you. Take care. Kim
