Red just keeps on popping up on my radar...

Everywhere I look I seem to notice Red...

The Red Camellia blooming in a neighbour's garden.

Ilex berries

The felted wee animals at a local shop in our Village.

Our neighbours hosted a cookie open house this weekend.
They made dozens of cookies and in the centre of the table was a gumdrop structure of Saint Paul's Cathedral.
It was done to scale too...
most impressive and the cookies that I sampled were very tasty!

We had stormy wild winds and rains yesterday and there is more wild weather in the forecast.
I took a short video of the storm as it lashed the breakwater at The Oak Bay Marina...
it is on my Instagram page if you want to check it out!

Handy because you make it and then pop it in the fridge to bake later.

I bake it on parchment for even heating and quick clean up!

The shortbread is going to be stored in the red tin after it cools...
and then I will put the kettle on to boil and sit for a bit with my mug of tea and read.

I brought this book home to peruse...
I have always enjoyed Tricia Foley's style.

Red and White Roses at the local Oak Bay Coffee Shop and Bakery
called Delish.

It was cold and windy on my walk so I
I stopped there for a pot of tea and a cookie last Friday.

How was your weekend?

Lots of wind and rain! I'm thankful for a cozy dry home. We were busy with the grandchildren on Saturday. Today I did some baking and shopping. I make an orange cranberry shortbread using a recipe from Thrifty's. It's become a family classic.

It has been so stormy! I noticed a lot of red scarves and sweaters at church. I have no red in my wardrobe and probably won't add any but I do enjoy those festive touches at Christmas. The camellias are beautiful.

Our weather is the opposite here in Australia. We had the hottest night last night recorded in over 100 years the mercury didn't go below 30 degrees. The days in the high 30's one day it was 42. As I type this a thunderstorm has started to roll in and a cool breeze is starting to blow . We probably won't get much rain which is the way here. Red is such a happy colour.

The weekend had lots of rain (sadly, parts of the UK, mainly in Cumbria, are suffering floods) so we were indoors, doing not very much even though it's only a couple of weeks to Christmas. Love your 'red' photos! Called in a local DIY store today and there were shedloads of poinsettia. I must be alone in this, but personally I can't stand the plant, much preferring more gentle-looking flowers to adorn our home at Christmas. I tend to buy pink and red spray carnations and mingle them with greenery, they look gentle, rather than spiky.

Living in Cumbria I can tell you that the weather had been devastating to say the least. Luckiktvy I have not been affected personally but there are thousands of people flooded out of their homes and businesses. All the more poignant with Christmas just around the corner. It rather diminishes the festive feeling. The rec though is cheerful and every little drop of cheerfulness helps. Lovely photos as usual, Hostess.

I wonder if it is the same recipe...grated orange rind and dried cranberries figure prominently in this recipe and I love the flavour.

As a cook...one needs to sample just one!
it passed the test...

Thank you Hilary...it is a nice variation on the classic butter shortbread.

I do not wear a lot of red either...red ballet flats are it!

Climate change...it seems inevitable...we have to change and adapt. Hope that we have enough time...I am concerned given the scientific reports.

I nibbled one and they are tasty!

We watched the news tonight and saw the flooding...I hope the water recedes soon. I applaud your gentle approach...

The news did paint a clear picture...not one that residents of Cumbria would wish for...I hope that the waters recede and that the rain abates. If the Red cheers you I am grateful...please keep me posted on the situation.

No worries...I post and still have typos!

I have been away for a few days babysitting my 9 month old granddaughter so have missed the aftermath of the Cumbrian floods. Some of the roads into Carlisle are still closed, another village was flooded yesterday. It will take many months for things to return to a semblance of normality. People are pulling together amazingly and our army and rescue services are doing a tremendous job. So many homes have been ruined, some for a second or third time. Thank you for thinking of them.
