3 days to Christmas ~ OOTD

Our weather has been a mix of sun and showers...
walking just the same as usual but wearing a warm down coat and carrying an umbrella.
I had to stop pull out my Iphone and capture this image so I could share it with you!
"HI"

The scenery has been quite varied and the evidence of the recent gale force winds is obvious on the beach...

Huge logs are lying on the beach
making it a challenge to walk close to the waters edge.

I have never seen so many logs washed ashore.

They are stacked right to the top of the seawall in some places...making access to the beach difficult.

After the rains there are puddles...
Here you can see the sky above in the reflection...

There is a Christmas rose blooming by our front porch.
This is very unusual for this time of year.

The yellow rose bush beside the pink climber has several buds on it too!

I bought a bouquet of yellow roses to perk up the kitchen.
With the grey skies looming overhead Our Humble Bungalow just begs for a pop of cheer.
Nothing like a little splash of colour to brighten up a dreary day.

Light a candle and add some fragrance while we are in the mood.

My walking partner and I ventured out for a 5K walk and stopped for a delicious and healthy lunch when the weather became so blustery that our umbrellas were blowing inside out!

Three Days Left...until Christmas and yes I am counting!

Catching up on the laundry, finishing wrapping gifts, reading my favourite blogs and sneaking in a few chapters of my current novel.

Wee poinsettia perfect size for the powder room.

A pop of red and green... a classic festive flower.
Things are looking very Christmassy here in The Humble Bungalow.
Our tree is up and decorated with white fairy lights.
The beamed ceilings are all dolled up with strings of white fairy lights and there is a warm and cozy glow here in our home.

It is freezing cold outside
the Stellar Jays are chattering with each other
we have suet hung for the birds and the hummingbird feeder is a busy place these days.

Hope all is Merry and Bright in your home.

Your house looks very festive and I admire you out there walking in that weather. Your hair looks so great too. Have a very Merry Christmas Hostess and thanks for all of your wonderful posts throughout the year.

Wishing you all the joys of Christmas! Your walk followed by a healthy lunch makes for a perfect combo. Especially when the wind and rain make things chilly and damp. Walking 5k is very impressive. Walking is a great form of exercise and walking with a friend makes it even better. Your beach certainly took a hit with all the huge timber that washed up. I wonder how all this timber got into the sea? We, too, have warmish weather combined with rain and wind. No snow in the prediction. For added cheer - I will recommend you go to youtube and listen to Patty Smyth - Here Comes December. Be merry - Susan

Our weather here is still extremely hot which is unseasonal for this time of year. We will spend Christmas day inside with the air conditioner on. Tonight is party night here for friends. Trying hard to practice portion control. I'm ready and organized as one can be I know it all just flash by too quickly.

All looks picture perfect for Christmas at your house. Love the little red flower for the powder room - I put some fake greenery and red berries in mine - anything real would die in the heat! Merry Christmas Hostess!

All is merry here in Oxfordshire, but not that bright! Today is the first sunny day in a few, so hooray for the sun. I've been keeping a eye on Van and speaking to Chloe every day. It does look pretty cold right now, and what's that about a possible white Christmas? Wouldn't that be lovely? Here the UK is having the warmest Dec on record and daffodils are blooming around the village! I love that you're feeding the birds. Me too. I just bought two coconut shell halves filled with a mix of seeds and suet. The blue tits and garden robin love them. I also bought a bell of pressed seeds, but the squirrels made off with it in two days. Those pressed seed balls in the cages are much more squirrel hampering and bird friendly. I don't mind the squirrels though. Everyone has to make their living somehow. Oh, a shrieking pheasant just flew past the window chasing a crow or Jackdaw. No idea what that was about...lol. Hope your last two days before Christmas are calm and happy. :D

As always, I so enjoy your photos. Our weather here in Virginia is very unseasonable......temps in the 50's and 60's! I was all ready with lots of nice warm sweaters for winter this year, and now I guess I have to wait. I hope you have a very Merry Christmas with your family!

Those stormy days are beautiful! I'm scattering touches of red about the apartment. That ponte pants and angled grey top is my go-to look these days. Your lunch looks fabulous. We have bulbs up already and the camellia buds are full. What odd weather! Relax for the last couple of days. I'm reading the latest Louise Penney book right now. Joyous Noel!

Hi to you, Hostess! What a huge amount of wood washed up on the beach, do people come and take it for firewood or is it left for the council to clear? It looks a wonderful place to be living; I can smell the fresh air! You look all ready for Christmas and I am nearly so. The family arrive tomorrow. Wishing you a wonderful time.

Hi Hostess ...all merry and bright inside but dull and wet outside. Quite windy too, sounds as though we re having similar weather. A dusting of snow would be lovely! Not very likely though.
The area you walk is still very beautiful even when the weather isn't!
Have a lovely Christmas Eve and wishing you and your family a wonderful Christmas and a very happy healthy and peaceful New Year for us all.

Susan,
Thank you!
The logs probably got loose from a log boom...they regularly wash up and collect on our beaches and people often use them for firewood.
Happy Holidays!

Holiday feasting and nibbling makes it very difficult not to indulge...a few days of treats and extra walks will be my goal. You are right about how fast the days go by...a lot of effort goes into the preparations and in a blink of an eye POOF!

Hope that you have a fun filled celebration Patricia...while you are trying to keep cool we are adding layers to chase away the chill!
Merry Xmas.

The weather has warmed up a bit and thankfully the wind has died down.
I am sure that you will enjoy your grandson and family this festive season! Take lots of pictures...they grow up so fast!

I adore roses too...nice to have you stop by and leave me a comment.
Hope your Holidays are Joyous.

I would love a little bit of snow...everything is so peaceful and quiet when we have a dusting here. There are lots of squirrels in our area...they like to scamper along our fence and can climb along the power lines from our side of the street to the neighbours!
It has been many years since I have seen a wild pheasant...they are beautiful birds...Oxfordshire sounds idyllic.
Merry Christmas!

Last year at this time the eastern seaboard was under a blanket of snow...so I guess you are getting a break from it this year.
Have a lovely holiday.

I saw your post and that fabulous Eiffel Tower tree!
Our bulbs are popping through the soil and many roses are blooming...
hope you enjoyed The Penny mystery...I did not want it to end!

THank you Bonnie...enjoy your festivities.

People often take their saws to the beach and cut some for their fireplaces...I think this time the city workers will have to do some removals as the steps to the beaches are blocked.
By now you have your family home...I wish you all a Very Merry Christmas.

I just finished the book...it was a lovely story.
Thank you for those kind words and for reading my humble blog...all the best to you and your family. Happy Holidays.

A very pretty, festive-looking home! But please could you tell me why you refer to the "powder room"? A friend came to stay from Canana and when she wanted to use the lavatory (we call a spade a spade over here in the UK, although most call the actual lavatory a 'toilet' which is just too-too-déclassé for me, har, har!) she said she wanted "the bathroom." I felt like asking if she wanted a bath! I don't like euphemism, so perhaps people do actually powder their noses in your powder room? I'm joking, but it's just a transatlantic difference which I find amusing. Upperclasses refer to it as "the loo" and this is what I ask for in a dept store or restaurant if I need to 'go'. The term "powder room" used to be on doors of the ladies' lav in the 1950s but I've not seen it used in a very long time.

And here it is three days after Christmas and I'm just catching up on my favorite blogs! I so appreciate all the wonderful posts you do all year and though I don't always comment I couldn't let the year go by without letting you know that. Happy New Year to you!
