More snapshots...OOTD

We are going for a walk along Hollywood Crescent.
It is the street that snakes and curves along the waterfront past Dallas Road.

Ross Bay Beach just across the street from the Ross Bay Cemetery.
This beach is open to the Straits and fierce storms are common in the winter.
The beach is vulnerable to the gale force winds and the crashing waves.

Large rocks were brought in and placed on the beach to help alleviate future storm damage.
There was a serious threat that the road and the graves would be eroded and washed away.

You would never know that this idyllic scene could be whipped up into a boiling frenzy of white caps and rolling waves...the water crashes over the seawall and onto the road.
When there is a storm of this magnitude the road is blocked off.
Logs are thrown high up into the air like match sticks and land "willy-nilly" on the sidewalk.

Driftwood is washed ashore along the beach.
An artist carved this on the roots of a huge log.
Art for all of the beachcombers to enjoy!

Beach combing on a calm day is very meditative.

The sound of the waves as they greet the shore
the call of the gulls
the gentle salty sea breeze

many interesting stones and logs intertwine in muted shades

stones feature prominently in this garage
look at the "green" roof
this structure has been here as long as I can remember

A fence of flowers...all dahlia blooms.

the stone wall along the boulevard
inside is a large vegetable garden

This enchanting home and garden just oozes charm.
I like to think of it as "Dahlia Cottage."
The couple who live here are often seen tending their garden and flowers.
Geraniums run riot in the Spring and Summer and come Fall the Dahlias are the stars.

I stepped on the scale after the weekend and my heart nearly skipped a beat...
I have to get back on track and count my WW points!

A calm sea is beautiful but a stormy sea is breathtaking! Much like that stone wall! How long that must have taken. You live in such a lovely area. The dahlias here have been killed by frost. Which is unfortunate considering it's now very warm again. I was hoping to hold onto dahlias until thanksgiving. Love your red and white!

Keeping weight stable as we get older is So. Hard! Me too!

Love that building with the grass roof.

After all the celebrating this weekend, I need to get back on track with my eating, too. We live in such a beautiful place - the sea is lovely in all of her moods. Gorgeous photos.

That's one of my favourite walks, Leslie! I have never seen the carving, but now I will be on the look out for it.

Ha, just decided to count points again today, too! What a beautiful walk, especially by the water. Love the carved driftwood, and what a pleasant surprise to passers by. The dahlias are beautiful, such wonderful colours.

Thanks for taking us along on your walk. It's one I have done several times when I've been in Victoria, and I never get tired of it. I could almost smell the ocean and hear the gulls as I read your post!

Lovely atmospheric photos of the seascape and then the bright clear photos of flowers.
I like the outfit also, especially the pearls

What a beautiful set of photos, I love the pebble wall and the drama of the first two beach and sea shots. What a beautiful place to have on your doorstep.
Reading the scales - what a depressing business that is! Health problems have kept me less active than usual and weight gain is the result. I have nine pounds to lose to get back to my normal weight and Christmas (and chocolate) is just round the corner!

It was lovely to walk with you. A beautiful part of the world. The garden along the boulevard is indeed enchanting.
Weight so depressing. My husband left hospital 16 months ago weighing 43 kilo's it has taken him the whole of this time to get to 59 kilo's. His dietician has told us that it is as hard to put on weight properly as it is to lose it. A sobering thought !

Have missed your posts as I've not been computing much during the last month. You did not disappoint. Love that carving. And the sea. And the dahlias. And your outfit. And.....

You live in such a charming place. Weight - takes up too much space in all of our brains.

Hi Leslie, I really enjoyed our walk ...thank you!
I agree, keeping the weight off can be difficult even with regular walks. Good Luck! Hope you're having a good weekend.

The dahlias are starting to fade here too.
You are very creative Stephen...I have every confidence that you will find something lovely to decorate your thanksgiving table.

Weight gain can be so annoying...above all our health is the most important consideration. A modest amount of chocolate every day is not a bad thing!

When my father was ill he had to drink Ensure as well as eat his meals...he was so thin when he passed away...I empathize with your husbands' struggle.

It is so true Kathy...from my perspective I need to be mindful and keep close to my goal weight. If not I fear that my blood pressure will sky rocket again and I really do not want to be on the medication. I would LOVE not to have to think about it.

Beautiful photographs of amazing places! I would love to live near the ocean.

Do you know who did the carving on the large piece of driftwood? How amazing it would be to just come across this while walking along the beach. I was very drawn to the driftwood carving and to the stone house with grass roof, revisited the photos several times.
