I've seen fire and I've seen rain....

I've seen fire and I've seen rain...
Sweet Baby James (Taylor)

The sunsets here have been crimson red,
full of the fire particles
There are over 400 forest fires burning in our province.
We have not had rain in many weeks....
until now
I hope that this will extinguish some of them.

It's pouring rain and a great time to cocoon
cook some chowder
and relax..
I have devoured Jen Lancaster's book...

I discovered at the end of the book that she is a blogger!

Mr. HB and I watched Up in the Air
It was not what I was expecting but I enjoyed it just the same
I was hoping for a happy ending...
George Clooney is handsome and is such a natural on screen
the camera loves him.

Garden roses and Lady's Mantle my favourite combo.

In the torrential downpour and gloom of grey
 I have
thoughts
musings
self evaluations
ruminations
comparisons
reflections

all have made their appearance in my dreams
both awake and asleep
I feel very quiet
as I listen to the raindrops

Flowers in any form sustain me
they enrich my every day life
jewels of the garden
they look even brighter in the gloom of grey.

What would you be found doing on a day full of rain?

Technical difficulties...

Apologies all round...

I have been having some technical difficulties here and am going to sidelined for a few days of sporadic reading and posting...I'll try to check in as often as I can.
I have several days worth of blog reading to catch up on.
In the meantime...enjoy your weekend!

Partners in grime...saving $$

Meet the big guns
partners in grime...
they work for me
I employ them 24/7
and they perform
so well
that I am sharing them with you

Lovely scent
tough on grime and skin friendly
my gardening hands
are a testiment to their tender ways

saves money
it's dispenses foamy soap
you mix 1/3 liquid soap
then add 2/3 water
agitate
and voila!

I am saving money for pearls... :)

Gadget I resisted but now embrace...

...it's functional.
I never knew what I was missing until I got hold of one myself.
It completetly transformed my cooking
of rice...
I had resisted..
Hostess of very few gadgets and kitchen aides
I employ sharp knives
cutting boards
Kitchenaid, Le Creuset pots and a cooker
Lovely daughter suggested this and I said pshaw...
I can cook this any day in a pot with no trouble whatsoever...

it's only a marketing ploy to part us from our money
little did I know...

on closer inspection...
and rice perfecto mundo every time
I can embrace change
add a gadget
I am a fan
and it was only $10 at a garage sale

We have been enjoying veggie stir frys
the Bungalow Garden is bountiful
and I am happy to say
that I change my spots...
at least when it comes to modcons and rice cookers...
sometimes I feel that I am stubborn and resist change..

Blighty this one's for you...

I'm Really Not Just A Waitress
Base/Top Coat and
Peru B Ruby
O.P.I.

These toe thingamagigs hurt!

a drum roll s'il vous plait...

A balancing act!

I want to share something that makes me smile every time I see it...
Ava..
it's not new...
pure sweetness...
and if it doesn't put a smile on your face I don't know what will.

Land's End...Bathing suit-able for a woman of a certain age.

Polka dots
lots of spandex to keep the wobbly bits stable
built in bra
 custom sized
lined
ample coverage

slightly shirred at sides
deeper V to elongate
wide straps for support
black because it has a slimming effect
dots because you need a bit of fun

a cover up to minimize sun exposure
allows for a wee bit of modesty
at my age I am not looking for attention
nor do I want to have the tongues wagging
or fingers pointing in my direction!
I'd rather blend in gracefully

I do not wear my swimsuit often
but I do love to swim in the heat of summer

in the water
 I wear this one
from Lands End

 LOOK they have a sale!
Happy Shopping.
