New things in The Humble Bungalow ...

It is a lovely morning here in The Humble Bungalow.

Sunshine, blue skies and very little breeze.

I just got back from a walk along the seafront.
The first walk of the day 3.3 km and 5,210 steps.

My daily goal is 10,000 steps which adds up to about 6.2 km

Yesterday I changed the bedding and Pepper was very impatient...
she "assumes the position" on our bed during the daytime.

We updated our coverlet this year with this Laura Ashley printed coverlet and shams.

We also purchased a new wool runner for the hallway.

Staying at home so much has made me aware of lots of things that need attention.

I reorganized the spices using Bonne Maman jam jars.
These jars are a great size and fit well inside the drawer.

3 more jars are waiting to be filled...
I haven't decided which spices I need yet.

Sweet, juicy Tangerines in a vintage ironstone bowl.
We have a larger one of these bowls and it is filled with apples.

Weight Watcher 360 plan assigns ZERO POINTS for fresh fruit
so fresh fruits are my "go to" snacks.

All the walking is helping me feel better.
My muscles are tighter and my legs feel stronger.
I have noticed a change in my shape...
fewer wobbly bits!

Am reading The Which Elm by Tana French.
It is an interesting story and Tana writes such vivid scenes.
I feel like I am inside the rooms and gardens
beside the characters that are playing their roles.

I must close for now as I have a bunch of laundry that needs my attention.

What are you reading?

Any home projects underway that are keeping you busy?

Please feel free to leave a comment, I love hearing from readers.

Your new coverlet and hall runner are lovely. Adding new bits and pieces really freshens things up, doesn't it? I will be doing some painting shortly as a pocket door was installed between the kitchen and laundry room, freeing up space from a previous swinging door. Gardening during these sunny afternoons is pure delight!

I put dried chopped onion, dried chives, and parsley in my jars just to keep them handy. I have tea in those jars too and I store those upside down so I can see the teas. What would we do without Bonne Mamam? I am reading West With Giraffes and loving it.
Today I decluttered a new but never used small carpet spot cleaner and an small ironing board I never use. Nice to have big things gone and enjoy empty space. They were picked up from the porch and money left under the mat.

Hello, Hostess! I use Bonne Maman jars for making salad dressings. It is just the two of us now so we don't need large quantities for our salads, veggies, etc. Your bungalow is so cozy and lovely. Is there a 2nd floor or is most of your living space on the main floor?

What a heavenly camellia (I think) bloom, my favourite shade of pink. I notice a lot of new fashions in our local shops in exactly this colour. So tempting... We have been some time organising a kitchen makeover, and finally have a date, 19th April. Fingers crossed! Love the new coverlet, Laura Ashley is always just perfect. Well done on the walking too.

The lovely Spring weather is inspiring me to tidy up and freshen the bungalow. A pocket door sounds like a great improvement...doors can take up oodles of space. Sounds like you are enjoying your retirement!

The jars are certainly pretty with their blue and red gingham lids so we find uses for them after the jam is finished!

I have made vinaigrettes in the jars as well. We live mostly on the main floor but there is a downstairs with a laundry area, two rooms and another bathroom and my husband's workshop.

Yes the pink flower is a camellia...spring fresh fashions are here too but I am avoiding the shops for a bit! Walking in the better weather makes all the difference doesn't it? Good luck with your kitchen renovation it sounds like a very exciting project!

I am increasing my walking as an aide to losing a few pounds. It is helping, I have lost 3lbs - admittedly over a few weeks, but still a loss. I'm walking 4 miles a day now, I'm happy with that. I like your coverlet and runner, and your camelia is beautiful.

Walking really helps us shed a few pounds and add bone density. Staying healthy is so important especially as we age.
Take care Polly and enjoy your walks!

As always, your home looks lovely! I am also planning on a bit of an update for my bedroom with a new rug and curtains being top of the list!
For spices I use the little jars from the Riviera Yogurt - I purchased a ton of their lids and I have one Lazy Susan for all the herbs & cooking spices with red & turquoise lids to match the kitchen and all the baking spices on another lazy Susan with white lids.
I am reading "Queen Bees" at the moment - a bio of six great society matrons between the wars in the UK. Quite fascinating although I do find the way that the author jumps back and forth between them a bit daunting as it is a bit of a challenge to keep everyone (and heir family & friends straight)!
Enjoy your lovely walks.

I used those wee jars with lids for spices but I found them too small. The Queen Bees is a title that I saw locally and wondered if it was a good book.
Have fun with your redecoration of the bedroom!
Take care
