My new Vintage bag...

Vintage Gently Used Coach Regina bag.

Compact size, supple soft leather

with a zippered small inner compartment
an open space for my wallet and keys
&
featuring an exterior pouch for my phone.

Several years ago I had a frozen shoulder.
 which was incredibly painful.
It came on suddenly and scared me with the intensity of the pain.

The specialist that I saw told me to get rid of my big heavy handbags as they may have contributed to the problem.
I immediately bought a smaller bag.
Once my shoulder recovered, the other one froze!

I now carry a minimal amount of things
 just what I need.
Wallet, keys, nail file, lipstick and a mask.
My IPhone is stored in the outer pouch.

Darling daughter happens to have been the influencer on this Coach Bag.

She dropped off that lovely pearl pin that I purchased from her
at my front porch and I spied the bag...
well what can I say.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!

Jennifer was wearing an embroidered mask when she stopped by...

After several disposable masks fell apart after one wearing last week
I decided it was time to get serious and purchase a few decent non disposable masks.

These are from a dressmaker in Halifax Nova Scotia.
Her ETSY shop is Janice's Tailoring
her site has quite a few lovely patterns to choose from
hop on over and check them out!

Hope that you are doing well, staying safe and wearing your masks.
Have you had your vaccination yet?

Our supply of vaccines arriving here in Canada has slowed down...
we hope to get the shots as soon as they are available for our age group.
Maybe by Late Spring or Early Summer?

How is your area doing regarding Covid?
Have you seen a recent spike with the new strains?
Are your numbers of active cases relatively low?
We are all in this together.

Thank you for popping by The Humble Bungalow Blog.

I've had frozen shoulder twice! I don't think it was your heavy bag which caused it. I think the cause is unknown, but I agree--the pain can be incredibly intense. Sometimes I would see stars! The good news is that it resolves itself and goes away! Lovey your new bag!!

Your masks are beautiful. However, please look into something more protective or wear another mask along with these if you are in close quarters with others. Here in the US, we are being advised to wear better quality and fitting masks due to the new covid variants that are much more contagious. I have ordered some K94 masks from Korea which are four layers and tested to filter 94% of fine particulate matter. They also have a skin friendly inside layer to help prevent breakouts due to wearing masks. Stay safe!

Those masks are incredibly beautiful! I will have to check out her Etsy site. I have received my first vaccine shot and will get my 2nd in 4 days. I am so thankful to be able to receive it. Our numbers were really high for the last few months, but this last week has really dropped and I'm hoping it stays that way. My daughter is going back to school (only 1/2 days, with 1/2 the kids there in the AM and 1/2 in the PM) on February 22nd. She has never been to school at her middle school (she is a heart transplant recipient). I am nervous for her but also super excited for her. It is a first little bit of normalcy in almost a year! We had one in-person Girl Scout meeting in the park with masks and social distancing in November and then we were locked down again and have been ever since. So, I'm looking forward to any sense of normalcy...

These masks are 3 layers and have a slit inside for a filter...I use cut up coffee drip filters. I stay a safe distance away from people not in my bubble! I go to the grocery shop and pharmacy when needed and occasionally shop in a larger store when there are few people inside.

Good to hear that you have had your first vaccination. Our middle and high school students have been ordered to wear masks. They are only in small groups called cohorts. Your daughter will have to be cautious given her history. Hope that your covid cases will stay low. Ours are slowly dipping but not as fast as our primary health officials want them to!!
Stay safe

Yes frozen shoulder is no fun...and I read that women who are post menopause and have a thyroid condition are very vulnerable. Both of which pertain to me. I am almost over the tennis elbow that I somehow got? Not at all sure why but hey I can hardly wait to pick up my knitting project again!

Stay well Susan.

Australia has had no community transmission for many weeks and no deaths since about last September. Only the occasional outbreak from some positive citizens returning from overseas, but these are not widespread. Our international borders have been closed since last March with only Australian citizens allowed to enter (with rare exceptions for non-citizens). All have to do 2 weeks hotel quarantine. Because we have no urgency for mass vaccination our Therapeutic Goods Administration has done it’s usual ore approval testing and will now roll out end of February. Things in Australia, and New Zealand, are almost back to pre Covid but with distancing, sanitising stations, some restrictions on numbers at gatherings and mask wearing in specific places. People have been very good about following public health guidelines. Let’s hope that the world can get this horror under control soon. Best wishes to everyone.

Your new bag is beautiful, very stylish indeed. A few years ago I had a frozen shoulder after a holiday trip for which I bought a large leather bag which was quite heavy. The bag had to be banished and I too seek small bags as much as possible. Your pretty embroidered masks are gorgeous, and I like that they can have a filter inserted. We only wear masks in certain circumstances now, but always have to be alert and be prepared.

My husband and I received our first vaccine on Wed. Everyone said it was easy without side effects. Well, we both were extremely fatigued, feverish, nauseous and I had a sore arm which hurt to the touch. This lasted for 3 days. We are just starting to feel better. I am not looking forward to the second dose! I guess I wasn't expecting to feel so awful. I know not everyone feels these symptoms and I certainly hope you don't, but I feel I need to give you a heads up on what you might feel. By the way, I still have that exact Coach handbag! Love it.

I envy your safety controls in Australia and NZ. We are slowly seeing a reduction in cases here in BC but it has been a long time coming. Most people are following the guidelines and doing what they have been told but there are a few who are still gathering and partying in large groups which makes for easy transmission of the virus. I hope that we will be out of this mess as soon as possible.

Take care Annice

We see more and more people wearing masks on their daily walks. The new strains have people very concerned about the easy transmission of the virus. Your country is faring much better than ours right now...we are seeing some reduction of cases but the authorities need to see much more progress before they will relax the rules not to gather with anyone not living under the same roof.
Stay safe Patricia

I had a similar reaction to the shingles vaccine and was warned by the pharmacist to expect flu like symptoms. I have heard others mention that they were not feeling great after the first shot and many complain of headaches. Hope you have bounced back now and are enjoying good health.
Coach made great quality bags...yours is still going strong which is not surprising given their attention to detail.
Take care Ellen

I love that bag. Did you find it in Victoria?

I am green with envy over the bag. There is nothing like vintage Coach. I have a vintage bucket bag that my mother gave me. It's 40 years old, looks fabulous, is the perfect size to fit my laptop and everything else I need, fits neatly under an airplane seat (wish that mattered more right now, but it will again someday) and it has the sturdiest zipper. It holds its shape. It's very unlike the rerelease from a few years ago that has softer leather, which means it doesn't hold its shape. I wish they were still making bags the way they used to, or I wish I could find something else of comparable quality now.

I love your new-to-you Coach bag. I really love handbags with outside slip pockets for my phone. Did the leather flower come with it or did you add that? Charmant!

Pleased to hear that things are going better. We have had the great pleasure of visiting Canada twice. Our daughter lived in Calgary for a year with her then boyfriend’s family in 2000 when we visited her there and travelled to Vancouver by car via Jasper. You have an incredibly beautiful country and friendly people. We also visited 3 years ago when we did an Alaska cruise. I enjoy reading your blog, seeing your gorgeous home and garden and love OOTD. Best wishes from Australia.

Three beautiful items, I can't find anything as pretty as those masks here in the UK. I had my first vaccination on Saturday.

Your bag is lovely. I use my Longchamp bags a lot because I can fit a few items in them and they have no weight. After I saw your Instagram last week, I ordered three masks from Janice in Halifax. I use cloth masks all the time but when I went to the hospital last week with my mother, they gave me a disposable mask. It's the first time I've had to change. I just binged a book that you would probably like. It's called Pachinko and it's a multi-generational Korean story. I could not put it down. I'm wondering what Dr. Bonnie will have to say today. Our numbers in the Lower Mainland (except for Whistler/Garibaldi) seem to have improved. Hopefully, spring will bring fewer transmissions.

I purchased it from a Canadian EBAY seller from Alberta. I am not sure that they are easy to find but well worth the hunt.

Your vintage Coach Bucket bag sounds lovely! If you want to find another Coach bag you may be able to find one online on EBAY or ETSY or another retail vintage site. I prefer the vintage classic bags to anything I have seen locally in stores but hey maybe Hermes have something comparable...but that is just not in my budget!

The leather flower came with the bag. Our phones are much easier to answer when they are in that outer pocket!
Take care

Good to hear that you got the vaccine!
Hope the cases will stop spiking once we have herd immunity or as our top health doctor here in BC calls it "community immunity!"

The LOngchamp bags are great and very versatile...I have one that I use when travelling. Our numbers today were not bad...Bonnie had a lot to say and she sounded very positive. She mentioned several times that we may be able to expect to relax some of the guidelines soon. Will check out Pachinko I have seen that title before...
enjoy your week Madame. Hope your mom's health improves.

Thanks so much for the lead on the masks-several were sold out (hooray for the artist in these tough times!) but I found a couple pretty floral prints and ordered those. Living in the US Southwest deserts and seeing our temperatures climbing, I think these fabric masks will be much cooler-and so pretty! Have a great day

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

The masks are super popular and I noticed that they were selling fast too! Glad to hear that you were able to get a couple.
I love wearing mine so much more than the disposable ones. I wash them each day and they dry overnight.
Take care and stay safe!

NO VACCINES FOR US YET....I figure summer!
The amounts are dropping in Northern California.
I sit at home it will be a year MARCH 17th.Have to say its gone by FAST!

The US has much,. much,. much higher community transmission than we do - and so many more cases. I think our 3-layer masks (with filter if possible) are protective as long as we continue to practice handwashing and social distancing. Remember the adage "people, proximity, time" - i.e. it's the number of people you see, how close you get to them, and how long you spend in proximity that really matter.

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

I think that sounds like a reasonable time frame...Sandra and her husband got theirs but they are in a different age group than we are! I know the year that has felt like the film a Ground Hog Day!
Hope that you are doing better...sad to have to rehome your birds but Lady Windemere calls the shots!
