OOTD ~ New sweater

New Lands' End cashmere cardigan
I own 6 sweaters; 3 of which are cashmere.
This is my 4th and what I love about cashmere
is the warmth without the bulk!

I chose this grey shade with black flecks.
I have a lot of black and a few pieces of grey in my minimal basic wardrobe.
I can see this as an all season sweater...
imagine this paired with white jeans in the summer time.

I put on jeans, a white linen Tee
my pearls and some Chanel Lipstick with this new cardigan.
A super casual and comfy OOTD...
this is my basic Covid uniform for at home and my walks.

My hair is held back with a grey velvet scrunchie in a simple ponytail.
I am planning to get my hair trimmed an inch or so with longer layers next week.

I have been avoiding the salon but can do so no longer...
it has been months since I had a trim.
I know they have safety protocols in place and we will all be wearing masks.

We ordered in dinner last night from a local Thai restaurant
I must admit it was a real treat not to cook.

The sun is shining here today and the temperatures are cold.
There was ice on the roofs and cars when we woke up.
Snow is in the forecast
I doubt we will get much here.

My current book by Alice Hoffman
The Probable Future.

A wonderful story of several generations of women...
Alice weaves a tapestry of magic and witchcraft into her stories.
This one has captured my attention and I am transported to another "world."
Escaping the tedium during the pandemic
through well crafted books
is a gift that clever writers give to their devoted readers.

Talking about escape...
We are watching Bridgerton on Netflix...
The first episode did not excite me that much but after viewing the second and third I was hooked!

What are you reading?
Are you watching anything on Netflix that you can recommend?

Have you had your vaccination?
Stay safe and wear your mask.

Thank you for stopping by The Humble Bungalow Blog.
Enjoy your weekend!

Lovely sweater! I love cashmere as well. My husband and I are watching Dawson's Creek on Netflix and we are totally hooked on it It has six seasons, so it will keep us busy for a while.

Agree with you about cashmere. I must applaud you for your lovely choices during this time. I fear my pandemic wardrobe is suffering!xo

Isn't it wonderful to have the ability to watch these seasons of drama? I like the freedom to watch one or 3 at a time depending on our mood. Entertainment is so important...I miss live theatre though and going to the movies...all in good time and I am patient and keen to stay safe.

My wardrobe is pretty much the same pandemic or not...I've hardly set foot in any stores with the exception of a few thrift shops...I need to buy my annual replacement of bras...will go into the small shop that i now carries the French ones that I love. Maybe this coming week?...they only allow 2 people in the store at a time amd we are all wearing masks so it should be fine.

Lovely and versatile sweater. From my recent reading I'd recommend The Searcher by Tana French and Hamnet.

I didn't watch The Crown when it first came out and am sinking into it now. Each episode makes my husband and I wonder how factual it might be which sends us to research a bit--good for our brains and our dinner conversation!

I would give Bridgerton another try...the story does get more interesting. Yes cashmere is a dream yarn....now I could use some cashmere socks.

Oh Elizabeth...Lady Windemere...I read your most recent blog this morning and WOW have you ever had the medical experts baffled but finally you have a diagnosis.
Where did you get your cashmere socks? I want some to keep my cold feet warm and cozy. Please let me know as I would really love to buy some.
I heard that season 2 was given the green light to go ahead...it is a wee bit raunchy but a fun escape from the pandemic.

I love a good mystery...will see if I can find this book locally.
Thank you Jeannine

I have Hamnet on my list as I have heard rave reviews of the book.
I have read some of Tana French's book but not that title.
The Crown is good entertainment and one does wonder how close to the truth the storyline is...keeps us guessing.

Just read the two Olive Kitteridge books (Olive Kitteridge and Olive, Again by Elizabeth Strout, then found an interview Oprah did with the author on AppleTV. Highly recommended. My favourite escape book this period has been Women in Sunlight by Frances Mayes -- to listen to, not read, as I think it is easier to suspend judgement through listening while you walk or do chores. I've actually listened twice! As a "woman of a certain age" I loved the story of 3 American women who become friends while touring a seniors home and instead decide to book a year's stay in a Villa in small town Italy. I ate with them, shopped with them, drank wine with them, explored villages, gardens, antiques and art work -- sigh... was transported. Just suspend judgement about the fairy tale quality of the story and you can travel to Italy for the mere price of an audiobook!

My daughter and I binged Bridgerton on Netflix. She enjoyed it so much that she read the book. I just finished another Cara Black mystery. It's an opportunity to explore another Paris neighbourhood. Maybe in 2022 we'll be able to travel.
I really like your sweater. I have a grey cashmere cardigan and a mauve v-neck that I bought in Scotland. It is important to feel positive and upbeat in these times.
I made a recipe this week that you might like this week. It was a spanakopita casserole (basically penne, spinach, dill, feta, ricotta and mozzarella baked). Monsieur loved it. Another
pasta dish to try.

Lovely sweater, Lesley! I adore cashmere, and just added a black cashmere dress (new with tags at Turnabout on Oak Bay Ave!). It's so snuggly!

On Netflix, I'm assuming you've already watched "The Queen's Gambit"? It's quite fun. Other shows I have really enjoyed: "Fargo" (gory, though), "Blown Away" (a Canadian reality show about glass blowing - it was amazing to watch!), and "My Octopus Teacher" (a documentary - LOVED it, amazing photography).

For books, I just finished "Less" by Andrew Sean Greer - it was a beautiful book and I immediately wanted to read it again. Highly recommended.

I've had my hair cut multiple times since last spring. It's very safe, and they are very careful. You'll have to wear your mask for the entire time, so be prepared for that. Otherwise, go for it!

Wasn't Olive Again a great read? I really appreciated Olive's matter-of-fact, slightly awkward manner. I will order Women in Sunlight.

Pretty sweater! I’ve always liked tweedy yarn and have knitted with it over the years, but not cashmere, I’m afraid! I have a few fine wool cardigans from banana republic that I really like, they go over a plain t-shirt and bring it up a notch from casual.

Getting caught up with Kim’s Convenience lately. It’s nice light hearted entertainment.

Just finished Shuggy Bain, on the Booker award long list for 2020. A very good but heartbreaking look at a child’s relationship with his alcoholic mother. Will look up above book to add to my list.

Women in Sunlight was a delightful book.It really describes Tuscany so well...I felt that I was there again! I also recently read a Frances Mayes book Everyday in Tuscany and highly recommend it...you will be cooking and eating and feel like you are in the Tuscan hills of Italy.

Buying a new sweater has indeed given me a lift...I have not bought much at all during Covid. My husband would love that pasta dish!
Cara Black writes wonderful mysteries set in Paris...I crave books set in Paris and Tuscany...armchair travel has its place especially now that we are at home so much. Travel should resume as soon as we have herd immunity.

I really enjoyed the Queen's Gambit! We have also watched The Crown and I tried watching Fargo but am not a fan of gore...
Your new cashmere dress sound lovely. I went in to Turnabout a month ago looking for a vintage classic handbag but did not find one that ticked all the boxes...have ordered one from EBAY...will share it when it arrives.
I will look for the book Less...stay well Sheila.

I read Untamed by Glennon Doyle which was an eye opener for me...she struggled with alcohol and drugs but is definitely worth reading as she has turned her life around 100%.
Kim's Convenience is funny! My daughter suggested I watch Bling Empire on Netflix...it is total escapism...
Take care and stay safe.

Love Cashmere. I wear my black cashmere turtleneck with my cashmere long vest with pearls or something that resembles pearls. Just makes me feel good. Love both your sweaters and of course your pearl accessories.
Books: Anxious People by Fredric Bachman - so much to discuss. Book club loved it so much so that we want to reread it again and discuss it further. Loving the Jacqueline Winspear series with Maisie Dobbs. Nahuatl started reading Miss Benson's Beetle by Rachel Joyce and it is already good.
Food: new cook book 'Wellplated' by Erin Clarke. I also follow her blog
Viewing: loved the movie Summerland on Netflix. My husband is watching a lot of Spanish series. Some look good.
Thanks for everyone suggestions.
