April Showers bring May flowers...

Tulips are blooming in the glorious Sunshine.

With so much uncertainty in our world
we are clinging to the comforting rituals and safety of our homes.

Feeling grateful for so much right now...

Food in the fridge and cupboards
hot water for baths and showers
scented soaps
candles
flowers
books
the cats
family
friends
our small cozy bungalow
fresh air
sunshine
walks outdoors

I loved this new book by Santa Montefiore.
This is the 4th book in The Deverill series and it did not disappoint!

Healthy dinner
steamed assorted vegetables with a Tasty Bite package of Ancient Grain Mixture.

My digestive system has been really acting up...
major heartburn!
maybe it is caused by stress or just plain old age
it would appear that I have all the signs of a hiatus hernia.

I had a telephone call to my GP and I am on some new medication.
Hope that we have nipped it in the bud as there are not many other options right now with all the closures in place.

I've tidied up the pots on the patio.

Primula

Not sure why Chester was hanging out in the clawfoot tub?
He's so entertaining!

Am looking forward to reading this new book.
I placed an order with my favourite independent local book seller
Ivy's Bookshop on Oak Bay Avenue.

I am reading so many books during this pandemic...
it is a wonderful "escape" during these quiet weeks.

We have been washing our hands so many times each day that we are getting low on our favourite lemongrass liquid soap.

So I went online and purchased more soap from Nezza Naturals
another local small business, we were able to pick up our order just outside their front door.

I do hope that we can help small business owners "stay afloat" until more "normal" business can resume.

What are you reading?

Have you been sewing masks?

How are you occupying your time at home?

Love to hear from you...

I've been trying to support our local shops and restaurants too. I cook 6 nights a week and we order the other night. Tonight, we're having Artisan pizza from The Porthole in Steveston. It's a tiny tapas bar that hosted live music in pre-pandemic days. We get a pizza and a wine bottle refill for $35. I'm still reading The Mirror and The Light. I loaded it on my phone and it's hard to read. I've been experiencing more heartburn as well. I wonder if we're eating more or if it's stress. The flowers are so beautiful right now. The azaleas and rhododendrons are magnificent. We are fortunate be able to stay healthy in a place of such comfort and beauty.

Your garden is looking beautiful, Leslie. I hope the medication helps you feel better. Tonight we are ordering (for pickup) Mexican food - some of our favourite. So far we've done pizza and Thai.
I've not been reading as much as I thought I would. Can't seem to settle my mind to anything, so I'm re-reading old favourites.
We do have so much to be thankful for. Stay well.

Dinner sounds delicious! I like the idea of one meal a week from a local restaurant.
Gaviscon tablets really help with heartburn, a dear friend suggested them. The prescription medication took affect after a few days and I am not avoiding acidic foods and I am feeling much better.
It’s really windy here this afternoon but the sun is out and the skies are blue!
I love that new dress that you purchased from Lands’ End! Nothing like a fresh bright new outfit to elevate your spirits.

The meds are definitely working. I am eating blander food and avoiding citrus and acidic foods. So far I haven’t had another episode.
Where do you get your Mexican food from do you have a favourite place? I have been craving Thai food!! You are the third or fourth person who has mentioned the inability to focus on a book...I am having trouble just sitting and knitting which usually soothes me.
Hope you have a restful and restorative weekend.

I so enjoy the pictures of your flowers. Especially since the weather here in the Northeast has been dreadful. My poor tulips stuck out their heads and were snowed upon. We have been so cooped up with the shut down that it would be a blessing if we could consistently get outside in the fresh air. I am looking forward to planting my window boxes and enjoying my porch. In the meantime, I will enjoy your garden. Be well and be safe.

I am happy to share the flower pictures...I read quite a few blogs from NZ and Australia and enjoy their beautiful flowers when we are enduring the wrath of winter weather! Hope you get some relief from the cold snowy days soon...Take care Kristien

Your plants look beautiful. I've been gardening, it's never looked so neat and tidy! I've also been reading and working on my dolls house. I was diagnosed with a hiatus hernia in February. I don't take medication but I have adapted my diet and eat smaller amounts.

While we are staying home so much more our garden is getting way more attention, sounds like you are enjoying your time outdoors too!
I am eating smaller meals and trying to eat less acidic foods. I do not want to have another attack like I had a week ago...it was really painful and I thought that I was having a heart attack!
Enjoy your week Polly.
