Bedroom renovations are done!

The renovation took several months
due to our summer holidays
and
the schedules and work load of the construction crew.

Here's what the bedroom looks like today.

Built in drawers and doors replaced a very small closet space.

We have so much more room for our clothes and its much better organized.

I purchased:

new pillows
memory foam mattress protector
cotton sheets
bed skirt
throw

Chester seems to approve!

We are leaving the distressed floor as it is...
I am not planning on buying antique rugs which originally thought I would.

Not sure about art work on the white walls...
they look so peaceful and serene.

All white bedding is my favourite.

I am working on my list
"3 weeks in a carry on"

More about that next time!

Beautiful! I love the built-ins. Sometimes it takes living with something a while before you decide what to put on the walls, if anything. It's lovely just the way it is.

I love your bedroom renovation! The built in storage is beautiful and works well, as you say. I also favor all white bedding which is what we have in our bedroom.

Leslie, your bedroom is lovely, so light and airy! I love your built in storage. Maybe some pastel rugs for the floor? Winter can be chilly underfoot.
We have the same lamps on our nightstands. We have had them for years and they provide low, soft lighting for our bedroom.

Wishing you restful nights in your "new" bedroom.

We will live with the white walls for awhile before we decide if we will or won’t put up some paintings.

I like white towels in the bathroom and white bedding in the bedroom. It feels calm and serene...what I want to put me in a relaxed mood before bedtime.

I think we purchased the lamps at Sears years and years ago!! Not sure about rugs. I like the uneven and distressed heritage floor and I have cozy slippers!

All those drawers and doors!! Your room looks so calm and inviting. Worth waiting for I'm sure.

Your bedroom looks absolutely gorgeous, the details are all perfection and I know how thrilled you are now, and will be in the future. I say leave it as is for now - enjoy the space and tranquility. Time will tell if you want any art or rugs.

It's lovely Leslie. I hope you enjoy it for a long time.

I love those closets. It must be so much easier to store your clothing when you have the appropriate built in closet space to accommodate your belongings.

So peaceful and fresh. What a great achievement, Lesley. I love it !
Agree with your approach, let the dust settle and the finishing pieces will come to you and find their own place.
I’m on a few weeks holiday in Southern Europe right now - it’s still hot! My suggestion is to pack what you REALLY enjoy wearing for the temperature, then rinse out like crazy!!!

I keep walking into the room and just stop and look at the transformation...so happy that it’s finished !

We will definitely enjoy the fresh space! It’s such an improvement over the floral wallpaper and tiny closet.

It is fabulous having more space for our clothes and scarves and accessories. It’s a big improvement !

Yes bedside lamps are enough for reading but I usually don’t read in bed unless I am sick. I like to sit up to read.

Mary enjoy your holiday!
I am packing my favourite clothes...I want to feel comfortable and dressed appropriately for our adventures!

Ah! We are bed cover twins!
I think it’s by Tommy Hilfiger.

Looks lovely, very calm and peaceful! Just a thought, what about hanging one of your own photos (possibly a white rose or a tranquil water scene) over the bed? you could frame it or print it on canvas. Or maybe one of your own paintings, that would be cool!

Your renovation looks exemplary. Love the white and the built-ins. Beautiful. Wonderful how built-ins provide excellent storage and organization while taking up minimal space. Returning to your bed will ensure a better night sleep. Another big plus. Susan

We will wait and see...a serene scene might be lovely over the bed.
I like the idea of a simple white rose!!!

Bedrooms should be peaceful and calm places...
soft white just felt like the colour to achieve that feeling.

We are really loving the space...the new cotton sheets are whisper soft too which feels so light and airy...my sleep is not quite as good yet...am going to write a post on the topic as I am doing some research.

What a well designed storage space, it looks as if it could have been there since the beginning. My bedroom is white too, with green accents, and I just love waking up there each morning.

Your bedroom must be a lovely calm place for a restorative sleep. Greens are very serene...
My husband has a great design sense and he understands the arts and crafts era building style. I love how it turned out and am enjoying the storage space and clean lines.

Lovely! Here's to (hopefully) good sleeping now your back in your own bed.

Lovely reno -beautiful drawers and closets. Instead of art above the bed (not a good idea in an earthquake zone), perhaps a linen cover for the headboard (the bed is lovely and it would soften the lines against the shaker panelling)and some beautiful lumbar pillows would make it cozier?

La Vie Quotidienne said...

Oh it looks spectacular. I love the built-ins, so classy and tranquil.

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

Better sleep for sure!!!

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

We would not cover up the hand made headboard as we commissioned a local artisan to make it out of Quarter dawn wood in the arts and crafts mission style. My husband agrees about art above our heads in the event of an earthquake! We use two soft pillows to sleep on and the larger ones are removed at bedtime. I use a satin pillow slip so cool and gentle on my hair and skin...a wee bit of luxury as I sleep!

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

There s typo in my reply...should be Quarter Sawn Oak!

Thank you Adrienne! We are enjoying the room so much.

Renovations look fantastic, nice and relaxing. If you do think about redoing your floors my son in law has his own business in Victoria area and has good reviews. Lawson Floors; he has done quite a bit of work restoring older floors. He has a Facebook page under his business name.
