A POP of colour and my favourite IPhone APP.

New in The Humble Bungalow.

Le Creuset Dutch Oven

A friend shared her secret to keeping her Le Creuset pots and pans
looking like new.

(it's Bar Keepers friend!)

I made a paste of this cleanser
soaked our stained white enamel pot for a few minutes
then rubbed it with a scratch free scrubber and voila
clean as new!

My current read...

Hooray the hellebores are blooming!

One bloom can make a big statement in a small vase.

Rain or shine
I'm out every day for a walk.

My goal is to walk 7,000 steps.
The IHealth App on my IPhone makes it easy to keep track.

This Saint James raincoat helps keep me dry.

(a picture from the archives)

Purchased several years ago and still going strong.
I can wear a vest or sweater underneath if the temperatures are dipping.

Another walk would be needed to reach my daily goal...
it is already 4:00 and I have to start preparing dinner after I publish this post.

Some days are easier to fit in more activities...

Are you motivated by a fitness app?
Do you go to the gym?
Have you worked with a personal trainer?

Hi Hostess, I couldn't resist commenting on the beautiful red pop of color(s) in your kitchen. And the red Le Creuset dutch oven is a very handsome pot...:). I bought a Saint James navy peacoat last fall in Park City, Utah. Really love the coat and have always like the brand. I didn't comment on your upcoming trip to Italy. What fun combining sightseeing and some arte culinaria. :) A cold day in my neck of the woods and your lovely kitchen is a cheerful sight. ~Amelia

Such a gorgeous colour! Will be lovely in the kitchen. Finally got out in the garden today, and ordered some seeds from www.westcoastseeds. Love your red Helebore. ( I have burgundy and white). Thanks for blogging ,and cheering us all up .

Your Le Creuset certainly adds a pop of colour! And colour is so welcome just now. Your hellebore is a beautiful rich shade, too - I don't know that I've ever seen one like that; they are usually pink or creamy white shades.
I received a FitBit for Christmas and have worn a pedometer for years to help me track my movement through the day. 10,000 steps a day is my goal and I usually make it. Moving around the school adds up those steps for me. That's a great coat for our climate!

I love having some red in my kitchen. I bought a couple of bright kitchen utensils in a shop on Ile-St-Louis this year. I've been using that app for a while and I like it. I have a sore knee so my longer walks are becoming painful. I've a similar coat (purchased years ago) that works well for our weather. That red hellebore is exquisite.

I love your Le Creuset Dutch oven. They have such pretty colors. I just got a 21/2 quart in a pretty shade of blue. The first one I got is still beautiful after 30 years of use.

I've been "collecting" Le Creuset for 46 years. I have many pieces in the original "flame" which I believe was the only color made at the time, and newer pieces in red. I love it and do use the same paste for cleaning. I'm going to download that app - I could use the encouragement. xo

I do not have any Le Creuset, but if I ever do it's good to know that Bar Keeper's is the answer (I always have it in my cupboard). I'm very impressed with your walking rain or shine, truly. I've never been one to walk in the rain (I do realize you live in an area with much more rain, though, and you all are probably better about getting out in it). I keep promising myself to get back to regular walking and I just am not doing it with consistency. I used to be a great walker - very consistent. I do not like going to the gym - yes, I have tried it; it's just not for me. I'm not one for going to classes either nor have I ever tried a personal trainer. I'm basically a solo act and prefer it that way, I just need to get some discipline (that I used to have) going. I do yoga every morning - it's what keeps me from being all stiff and kinked. I do some other exercises and light weights. Sometimes I follow YouTube workout videos of various kinds. I'm just not dedicated and consistent like I once was - wish I could give a better report.

Thanks for posting this. I inherited a set of Flame Le Creuset and now I know how to keep them sparkling clean! Enjoy your weekend!

I don't use apps on the whole but a friend of mine does and we clocked up almost seven miles yesterday, strolling the Thames Path, chatting and admiring the views of the city. On the whole, I am a solitary runner and walker and that suits me best. I tend to measure time or mileage and have got good at estimating. A daily five mile walk is always a fine thing.

I have a couple of red Le Creuset pots, often used and everything turns out great in them. Thanks for the cleaning tips. Could you refresh my memory where you buy your Saint James pieces? I want to go there next time I’m over in Victoria.

I have looked at many of The Saint James coats over the years and never bought a wool one. Yours must be beautiful to wear, softl and classy.
The red colours in our kitchen all started from a red towel that I bought in 🇫🇷
Stay cozy!

Our garden has been too dressed with a thick layer of mulch and looks amazing right now!
We have quite a few white hellebores, several magenta and a couple of black ones. I bought the first black one at Van Dusen Gardens in Vancouver. Hope you are enjoying your weekend Wendy!

We have a few black hellebores and Gardenworks have many unusual varieties for sale. Some frilly and some mottled I like how early they bloom and how hardy they are in our garden. Your 10,000 steps a day is a great way to keep fit! Congratulations!

I saw your most recent post and the picture of your red Dutch oven made me smile!
Hope you get some relief from the sore knee. It’s difficult getting our steps in when we have achy joints. I am grateful for painless walks but I did have hip pain for months and a bout of shin splints which was no fun.
Hope you are enjoying your weekend.

When I was in Vancouver I saw a Le Creuset store on South Granville Street! It was so bright and bold with the various shades of pots. They are quality pots and lovely to look at too!

Flame was the only colour available for many years. I am glad that they make other colours now. Such fun cooking with quality pots pans and tools.
I think the IHealth app is a standard app included on the IPhone.

You will love the cleaner! It works like magic on the pots!
Happy cooking !
I had my first Italian language lesson and I absolutely love the teacher her name is Giuseppa and we learned the alphabet, some words, phrases and sang Volare!

Walking works for me as I never can commit to going to the gym. Even swimming which I love is seasonal...outdoor pool and only in warm weather. I too struggle to maintain my long walks. The weather often makes me want to stay cozy indoors. The app is truly excellent to motivate me to get up and move.
You may find it a helpful tool. I walk with friends when they are available but our schedules are all so different that most of the time I walk by myself.
Good luck!

Hope you like the cleanser!

Sounds like you know your area well. Time and distance are key...walking with a friend chatting and looking at the beautiful scenery is a lovely way to stay fit.
Enjoy your weekend!
